  1. In reality though, that hasn't been called a catch all year. Whether you thought it was a catch or not, it hasn't been called like it was on that play all year and that's what he took into consideration when announcing that call. I think we all hated it because we feared it was going to be called in New England's favor.
  2. I would hate this. That's too high for Washington IMO and I am the biggest fan of Rudolph. Pass
  3. The guy came up in the clutch in the postseason and helped lead them to a super bowl win. I don't care what anyone says about a few years ago, when's the last time we had a QB that led his team to a super bowl after being underdogs in every game? The guy deserves a lot of respect. I hope he gets a starting job. He earned it in my opinion. The big question that always needs to be asked is can the QB win in the playoffs or is he an Andy Dalton...he answered that.
  4. I like how he stated that running QBs don't get hurt yet Watson missed most of the season because of a rollout play that blew his knee out. I like how he mentioned that the running QB durability thing is a myth yet Watson missed most of the season due to a blown knee from a rollout play, Aaron Rodgers who runs a lot for a QB got hurt running, Andrew Luck got hurt running and he ran a lot...am I missing something. Luck and Rodgers ran the ball way more than a lot of fans think. They are far from in the pocket passers, they take off with their feet a lot. My question with Jackson is can he take a hit in the pocket. It will happen. Can he stand in the pocket under pressure make the big throw and take the hit and get right back up or will he just take off running every time he gets a little pressure? I think he needs to add some weight before he can stand in the pocket and take a hit in the NFL. JMO
  5. Well, some fans want to spend free agent money on QBs and Star Lotulelei and other names. That takes big cash probably means Williams doesn't come back with a decent salary. It is certainly a debate in my opinion, especially if you are expecting a lot of guys to be paid in free agency not only other team's guys but some of our own. We have a ton of holes. Cap room must be spent wisely. If we get a QB at any level of play that isn't through the draft, it will cost us a lot of money. There's a lot of factors to take into consideration here. Whether to resign Kyle or not is certainly in that conversation. That's why I wrote a paragraph about his importance as a leader and mentor to young guys.
  6. I fully expect a DT drafted within the first 5 picks and maybe two overall in the draft. Kyle is past his best playing days but that doesn't mean his experience and tricks wouldn't be helpful to the young DTs that are transitioning to the NFL (if we draft them). I wouldn't mind giving him a one year deal that has a decent salary to be in rotation with the young guys and help them learn. We have enough cap, we don't need to cut every single player on the team with a decent sized cap number. Plus, his leadership in the locker room, especially with possibly another big roster turnover is really important. Our locker room came back together after falling apart a bit this year and I think that is a testament to the quality veteran leaders like Kyle. Here's to hoping Kyle Williams is with us next year.
  7. If he's there in the second round because of he doesn't have the experience though...I'd take him there no doubt To me, he will be a riser as we get closer to the draft but as of right now, he's around a 2-3 round pick. I think he will end up being a late 1st or more likely an early second. Deep class of DTs this year
  8. True but some prospects are hard to pass because of their talent. This kid is one of them.
  9. He has rare pass rushing ability for a man his size.
  10. I agree that the linebacker class isn't great but there are a few that have potential in the later rounds. I am in love with this DT class. Wouldn't be surprised if we double dip in this class. The wide receivers are underwhelming but there are some talents there. I'd prefer looking at the tight end class and potentially replacing Clay. This is a pretty darn good TE class to get their next Greg Olson for their new QB. Such a deep runningback class, could see us grabbing one in the 4th or 5th rounds. There's so many, we could get a good one that late. Hopefully finding what Karlos Williams could've been before he got fat.
  11. Tim Settle to me, he is a 6'3" 330 pound is our guy. He flashed this year with absolute domination at times. He wasn't always the one to make the tackles but he caused havoc in backfields for Virginia Tech, playing in front of the highly touted Tremaine Edmunds. He has the power to toss players around but his quickness is astounding for his size. He reminds me of Marcell Dareus a bit with his build and quickness. 10 sack Marcell had the first step and foot speed to double with his power moves and this guy has that same ability which he flashed at times this year. Settle had 36 tackles this year with 12.5 TFL and 4 sacks. He was unblockable at times. He could shoot the gaps but also push the pocket back with his sheer strength. He is a relative unknown by most fans because he just finished his sophomore year only having a one year flash. Normally, I'd pass on a sophomore prospect that hasn't had a lot of experience in college but this guy has the talent for me to overlook that. He had 17 tackles with 7 TFL in his freshman year with less playing time. He's clearly shown that he can live in the backfield and disrupt a QB's pocket. I feel like he has 1st round talent and even high first round talent. He just looks like a young Marcell that got us 10 sacks a few years ago. However, with such a deep class of defensive tackles in this year's class, he could make it to the second round and hopefully to us but I doubt it. He was a big piece of one of college football's best defenses. Any love for Tim? I think him and and Taven Bryan will be risers. They have a special ability to get into the backfield and get to the QB that teams are looking for nowadays. With Payne, Vea, Hurst, Wilkins and Harrison also in this class, there's some talent to pick from here. I laughed at the thought of drafting two 1st round DTs but I'm not laughing anymore. This is a talented class. Wouldn't mind one bit double dipping in this class.
  12. I think it's at least a possibility. I don't think they'd hand him the job but if he's brought in as cheap and reasonable competition, I think he in a battle against a rookie would be a good thing. If the rookie truly earns it then you go with him and you have Anderson mentoring him that way or if Anderson is the starter, he could provide a decent fill in. Wouldn't be my favorite option, obviously, but I can't deny his experience in this league and being in a similar situation a few years ago and doing well with it.
  13. He does an excellent job of finding the soft spots of the defense. He could have a bigger role in this offense moving forward as Daboll may be able to help him. With a new QB could provide O'leary with somewhat of a breakthrough season for his standards next year.
  14. If Ridley were there with one of our first round picks, I'd have a tough time saying no if we got our QB too. He's be a great weapon for whoever our new QB is. One of my favorite wide receivers in this class is DJ Moore. Is a 5'11" 215 and plays big. His quickness and cutting abilities both with and without the ball are impressive. I think he will go in the second round. He improved every year in college. Gallup and Allen Lazard have also caught my eye at points. There's a lot of potential guys that are tall in this class but none of them are sure things by any means. If we get a young QB, I'd have a tough time not getting him another weapon this year. Try to surround him with more talent to help him out. But with so many needs, this need might be pushed aside pushed aside in the draft and we may look to find a guy in free agency.
  15. Fair enough. Whoever is QB next year can definitely use a healthy Benjamin that's for sure. Hoping we get a speedster though in the draft at some point that can get open. I think Zay will have a better year as well. If Buffalo were to add a WR in the draft, who are your preferences?
  16. I just see a guy like him benefiting from a speedy underneath guy who can get away from corners and find the open spaces. Big guys have a tough time with that. I like having a tall receiver but I also think an underneath guy is necessary who is fast and a solid route runner who can get space from his defenders on quick patterns. Carolina kept funchess and has Olsen but they got rid of Benjamin and added some fast underneath guys. Mccaffrey certainly helped Cam this year. They need more talent at the wide receiver position. I think you need to have a balance or speedy guys and underneath guys but every team needs to have that underneath route runner who has speed and can get open. Tom Brady collects them. Antonio Brown does this. Quick separation on underneath patterns kills defenses. Like I said, a balance is necessary in my opinion but the underneath guy is more just as important. Get a really good slot receiver and a young QB will have a much easier time.
  17. Actually, they got rid of Benjamin in Carolina and brought in faster receivers and Mccaffrey to get more speed and help Cam out because he couldn't throw into the tight windows with the big guys. Hopkins is 6'1" 214...I don't consider that big by any regard. Speed guys are needed to get open for players like Rudolph in my opinion.
  18. It'd be hard for me to trade up and get a QB and not upgrade the oline. You're just setting the young guy up to get hurt or play through a ton of pressure. Why do that? With Groy and Miller that's a lot of ifs. I think they may do well too but I'm not handing them the positions without some legitimate competition. We need some more youth in the line.
  19. I disagree with this part. Rudolph doesn't have much experience throwing it to covered players. He's had a some throws that were contested but most of the players he was throwing to in that system were wide open by several yards. I've seen plenty of his games and seen this in all of them. I think he needs burners that can separate. Big bodies are for the QBs that have perfect placement and can throw the back shoulder throw and the fade very well...I think Rudolph would need great route running wideouts and guys that can fly. Not saying he wouldn't benefit from time to time from a large receiver but I think he'd utilize the faster wide receiver more.
  20. Obviously they can find a replacement elsewhere but there aren't a plethora of options out there in FA and on our team. The center position on an offensive line is probably the second most important position on the line. The center holds a lot of responsibilities. Drafting a center high is certainly something they could do. I'd rather have a young first round talented center who can grow with a new QB. If you have a solid young center, it helps the guards with their assignments and makes the entire line better. I don't want just a decent replacement thrown in there. Additionally, it's no secret that Incognito is up there in age and that right guard isn't locked down. It was always a need but maybe not the most pressing one. Now, it certainly is one of our biggest needs. Why should we settle with fill in offensive lineman when we are a run first team? That doesn't make sense to me. Build a great offensive line. We could use 2 offensive lineman in the draft and depending on what happens with Glenn, maybe a third in free agency. Let's not be stupid and avoid those positions this draft. It would be quite the shame to waste Mccoy's talents behind a poor line.
  21. I don't think Allen should be a year one starter. If he can learn behind a veteran QB and clean up some of his decision-making...look out.
  22. I'd be bringing in someone to compete. I'm not just going to hand him the job. I'd draft someone and have them compete. We need depth too and Incognito is old and RG is up for grabs too. We could use a few new lineman
  23. Obviously it's brutal to hear. It's never what any fanbase likes to hear but this is a business and this team has to do their due diligence if they want to be back in the playoffs. I get it, it sucks. My heart goes out to him and his family. I wish him the best but you have to try to pick up the pieces as fast as you can and that means scouting these players and finding a replacement. We can't just sit here and cry about it.
  24. Isaiah Wynn out of Georgia can play multiple positions on the offensive line and has had a great week and year. Scouts are raving about him at the senior bowl. He's very versatile as he played guard and left tackle in his career and some say he can play center. He's very quick with his hands and his feet and plays with aggression. Could be a late 1 to early 2 round prospect.
  25. First of all, thank you Eric for your service here and we all wish you well. We now need to look for his replacement. Do we go the free agent route, draft pick or next man up? Is Groy the replacement or are we looking to draft one of this class's top centers? This class has quite a few options at the center position but this would be something that would need to be taken in the 1st or 2nd round. Or do we hit the market and try to sign a guy like Ryan Jensen who was a first year starter this year for Baltimore but played like on of the top ones in the game. He's already stated that he's excited to see where this offseason takes him so he may be available. The more and more the offseason goes on, the more I think we will not be trading any of these picks to get a QB. Now we have another huge hole on the roster that needs to be filled. What are you thoughts on replacing wood?
