  1. This really sucks but hopefully nobody blames Beane/McD for the recent extension which will now further complicate the Bills salary cap and offseason plans in a very negative way. The silver lining here, we may already have a very viable and affordable in house replacement here who some have been begging to start at guard or center last year based on his 2016 metrics: Ryan Groy. Eric Wood you will be missed and glad you at least got to make the playoffs too after being here for the 2008 and 2011 debacles.
  2. 1) When I posted this I had no clue what the story was about, the end result is irrelevant. If I knew it was about Wood and his career ending injury I would have stated as much. Yes this really sucks but in no way was there some sort of 'exploitation' attempt on my behalf. 2) When I posted this I provided a link, I did not say this was 'my source' but a very well know reputable source but some of you obviously don't know how to read and like to make up things that suits your agenda (this is what REAL message board trolls do BTW). If this was already posted in another thread obviously I don't read and comb through every post here but it wasn't on the main board as a stand alone topic which is why I created it knowing it was likely significant given the source who I actually have met personally in the past. 3) You are right, just ignore me if you don't like my commentary or posts. I don't personally attack any posters here even if I think they are clueless idiots that lack no basic understanding of the NFL or Bills. Furthermore none of you know who I am, what I do for a living, what possible connections I might have etc. The hate for me by a certain faction here is based on false claims that I'm allegedly other posters from the now defunct official bills message board and my belief in NP from day one that he was a steal in the 5th round. And guess what, I was right about that too because he was inserted into the starting lineup by midseason even though it didn't work initially and people hate that I am/was right about it.
  3. FYI, a blockbuster trade or major move may be imminent. Possibly something I reported on as insiders and sources out west are buzzing tonight.....
  4. Looks like sources out west are truly buzzing this week, I will also be circling back with my west coast connections in light of this breaking news. For those of you that don't know, this formerly FFToolbox's account, a major Vegas insider well connected to NFL circles reporting this: https://twitter.com/ScoutFantasy
  5. Things don't always go as planned, but if they do the sky is the limit with NP given his unique skill set and talent. He's a very smart kid (has a masters), hard worker, leader and very gritty on the field which is why he wasn't afraid to sling it despite the costly turnovers. My point is that if they don't NP is still probably going to have a career with the Bills or another NFL team as a backup unless he doesn't want it.
  6. Unfortunately a lot of these kids will never escape the ghetto thug life no matter how many millions of dollars and good fortune a career in pro sports can bring them.
  7. Personally I'm in awe of the Patriots, and it's insane to think they are about to win their 6th NFL title and go on another 3 out of 4 year championship tear like they did from 2001 - 2004. Whether you love or hate the Pats, all fans should truly enjoy this because we'll never see something like this again in the NFL ever.
  8. No backpeddling, I said 'at worse' because I believe that is the floor with NP....a very good NFL backup. His ceiling is Drew Brees since he's pretty much the same exact player coming out of college that he was years ago.
  9. John Dorsey is a great GM and KC was foolish to let him go after completely turning around their team and accumulating boatloads of talent. Yes Cleveland is still Cleveland but they can easily turn things around if they finally get a franchise QB. And even if they stay put with both of their top 5 picks this year they are guaranteed two blue chip players. But the smart move would be to move one of the picks for a kings ransom and accumulate as much talent as possible the next few years.
  10. This isn't really a good thing, just means the Bills will stick to their usual plan of signing '2nd tier' type FA players on the cheap and letting a bunch of current players walk in FA. This also confirms my suspicion that 2018 may be the true 'tank' season for this new regime because it's going to be hard to win a lot of games with a roster full of rookies and 2nd year players. And even if Peterman makes huge strides might not be enough to come close to last years win loss record in 2018.
  11. It's a number of reasons steptide: 1) He's a 5th round pick, therefore he's no good because he lasted that long in draft. Nevermind the fact that most mid round guys are strictly developmental and probably shouldn't start an NFL game until at least their the 2nd NFL season at the earliest assuming their team believes they are ready. The fact the Bills thought NP was ready as a rookie either shows they are clueless or speaks volumes about how ready they thought he was in just his first NFL season. I still tend to believe the latter. 2) Fans still yearn for the next Jim Kelly but don't realize how rare JK and true franchise QB's really are. But even if we draft another 1st round QB this year it doesn't mean that guy is guaranteed to pan our or will be ready to play right away. He may still sit behind a guy like NP especially if he struggles in his first camp/preseason. 3) Most drought fans prior to finally making the playoffs again this year believe the standard for a QB is a guy like Tyrod Taylor, somebody that ocassionally plays a great game but is mostly below average throughout a 16 game season despite posting very deceptive stats. So when a guy like Peterman comes in and has a 5 INT game which essentially kills his qb rating on the entire season it makes the TT's and Fitzpatricks of the world look like superstars to them. 4) Most fans in general simply don't understand an NFL franchise thought process. The Bills (and just about every other NFL team) aren't going to make a predetermined judgement on NP because of what he did or didn't do in 2 NFL starts and a few games of mop up duty (including the end of the Jags playoff game). They are going to judge him based on what they see during the offseason and most importantly in training camp and preseason this summer to see if he's made the progress they expected. And again, even if this team drafts a 1st round QB it doesn't mean they are just going to toss a 5th round pick to the curb. Bottom line at worse Peterman is an NFL caliber backup QB, and depending what the Bills do this offseason he'll get a shot to be a starter here. If for some reason the Bills pull a Cardale Jones on NP then he'll be on another teams roster next year but still think that's a longshot scenario.
  12. Josh Allen is the biggest boom/bust QB in the draft and either going to be the next Big Ben or Losman/Manuel. Either way he no doubt be overdrafted (possibly as high as the top 10) even though most insiders have him graded more as a 2nd/3rd rounder prospect. Hopefully the Bills stay far away though given their track record with similar players mentioned.
  13. The only guy the Bills want is Darnold and still think Cleveland takes him #1 overall especially since John Dorsey is a proven commodity at GM and understands he's the best QB and/or player in the draft. Cleveland is actually in a great spot because if they land their franchise QB with the first pick they can then trade the #4 pick for a kings ransom to another desperate team looking for a QB. Could easily go from 0-16 to 8-8 or better very quickly.
  14. Crossman has survived 3 different regime's in Buffalo so he must be doing something right, but yes we still need a more explosive return game.
  15. A lot of 1st round QB's also look lost, in fact most were calling Jared Goff a huge bust after his rookie season with the Rams when he through more INT's than TD's and struggled mightily in every aspect of game. Just take a look at the quantum leap he made from year two and what a difference a new offensive coaching staff and talent upgrade at WR made. As for Peterman, again the guy is a 5th rounder that probably had no business seeing live action last year but he obviously showed enough behind closed doors for this team to bench Taylor midseason and give him a look even though it backfired. And I still don't think people are giving him enough credit for the Colts game as well considering we lose that one we don't make the playoffs. Also I still think 2018 may be a 'step back' season anyway regardless who starts at QB given the expected and imminent roster overhaul incoming. The big knock was arm strength and people still don't understand that is something can be fixed with something called hitting the weight room which NP is no doubt already doing in the offseason. This was also the apparent fatal flaw with guys like Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, Tom Brady etc and we know how their stories worked out even if their arms weren't that great early on in their careers. Other than this issue Peterman has just about everything that NFL coaches and GM's salivate over which is why many thought he could be drafted as high as the 2nd round last year anyway.
  16. The end result is the following list of players for Buffalo, in order of the positions listed in the guide: RB Damien Williams FB Derrick Coleman WR John Brown WR Andre Roberts TE Jeff Cumberland OT Austin Pasztor DT Daequan Jones DT Kyle Williams DE Ezekiel Ansah DE Arthur Moats LB Bruce Carter CB EJ Gaines Interesting names of mostly '2nd tier' guys we would likely target. Bringing Moats back to Buffalo would be interesting but he's pretty much a 3-4 guy so don't see it happening. Names of most interest to me are Daequan Jones, Ansah and Bruce Carter.
  17. Just an FYI, Bucky Gleason who's well connected in Orchard Park circles wrote a piece on the Buffalo news today pretty much saying that reading between the lines he expects Nathan Peterman to be the starter in 2018. You have to be a paying member to read but here's the link: http://buffalonews.com/2018/01/24/bucky-gleason-looking-for-bills-next-starting-qb-he-could-be-under-your-nose/ "Looking for the next starting QB? He could be right under your nose"
  18. Per my report yesterday, this is true. Bills aren't breaking the bank to make a blockbuster trade and want to keep most or all of their 2018 draft picks. They would love Sam Darnold but realize it's probably a fantasy unless he somehow falls out of the top 10. Definitely could seem them trying to package guys like TT and Glenn to move up though, assuming both aren't traded for mid round picks before the draft.
  19. I thought about this too, but to be honest I think people are reading too much into the Carolina connection and thinking it's automatic that some of their pending FA's will end up in Buffalo (or now AZ). But if anything this hire shows that the Ron Rivera coaching tree is legit or it might end up like Belichik if McD and Wilks don't end up having long term success away from Carolina. I still tend to believe that McD's success was more the biproduct of Rivera who is a legit defensive guru.
  20. I have nothing against Dennison, not a great OC but he does have a solid track record and won a superbowl. I think most OC's were going to fail here this year given the circumstances but if he does end up with the Jets good for him just hope he don't try and steal Nathan Peterman from us!
  21. I've only made a few posts like this if I'm confident in the source, and in this case it was the same one that shared the Brian Gaine hiring with me which I reported and was later validated well after I reported it was a done deal (I reported it at least a week in advance). My gut feeling tells me this source received this info directly from Brian Gaine but he wouldn't confirm that which I respect. No secret that Gaine would know a lot about Beane and the Bills offseason plans since he was a major part of the new front office. Other than that I don't proclaim to know the inner workings of One Bills Drive but it's well know there's been a lot of leaks out of there in years past based on how the organization was run. We'll see what happens in the coming weeks and months but I strongly suspect most of the content in my original post will come to fruition especially the not so earth shattering stuff (i.e. moving on from TT/Cordy Glenn and upgrading the front seven).
  22. You aren't the only one. I get along with most folks here even the ones that insist on flaming me, but thank you for having the courage to speak up. At the end of the day I'm a serious Bills fan that tells it like it is. And thankfully the drought is over even if we got somewhat lucky and didn't truly earn it. Also I agree with the sentiment that if it comes down to signing a guy like Alex Smith or Sam Bradford we might as well just roll with Peterman unless that guy legitimately beats him out and is head and shoulders better in camp/preseason. But even if it's dead even in training camp you still go with the younger guy with upside like Peterman. Either way I don't think this QB draft class is very impressive beyond the clear cut top 2 (Darnold and Rosen), too many JP Losman and EJ Manuel types in there and I hope Beane is smart enough to avoid them unless it's another mid round flyer pick like NP was then sure why not because worse that can happen is you find another backup type QB.
  23. Just a couple points of clarification in response to some posts on here: 1) I know I said Bills are 'all in', but what I mean is that if they don't get Darnold then NP is the guy they want to continue to develop, build around and presumably start in 2018 unless he's terrible or legitimately beat out by whatever journeyman vet we sign. But I do agree with the folks that he has to earn the job vs being handed to him like we have with other QB's years past. But if he continues to progress like I suspect he will he should easily beat out most veterans on the street we'd probably be interested in. 2) As far as the Bills interviewing Mason Rudolph or some of these other guys, understand that but what I meant is that there is virtually zero chance the Bills spend their 1st rounder on them. If they should fall to the 3rd/4th/5th round or somewhere around there like NP did last year obviously that might change things but at that point they'd just be another guy competing for the 3rd QB spot behind NP and whatever vet we sign. 3) For those that have PM'd me about my personal draft board: I have Darnold #1 for QB's. Rosen #2 (both top 5 picks) Also have a 2nd round grade on Josh Allen (he'l likely go much higher though), 3rd round grade on Mason Rudolph, 4th on Lamar Jackson. 6th rounder on Mayfield (going to be a huge bust mostly because he's a Manziel clone on and off the field). Sad thing is a lot of these guys will be overdrafted given how desperate a lot of teams picking in the top 15 are for a QB. Which is also why I think the Bills won't be foolish enough to make a big mistake again like they did in 2004 with Losman and 2013 with Manuel especially since the playoff drought monkey is off this regimes back and they have a potential steal in NP. *Also a true dark horse QB to watch out for is Tanner Lee, I have a 4th round grade on him but he could go as high as 2nd round. Very similar QB to NP and coaches still covet pocket passers who thrived in pro style college offenses. Perhap's he could be our Kirk Cousins behind NP if we spend another mid round pick on a QB
  24. Happy 20th bday to the best Bills fan site out there and glad to be part of it!
  25. I'm sure that's the plan, I don't expect 'big splash' FA signings but the Bills have money to spend and will certainly look for key veterans on defense (yes including some Carolina guys) they can bring in on 2nd tier type of deals. If we stay put in the first round and don't land Darnold, pretty sure DT, DE and LB will be on the table with our back to back picks unless their is a guy they can't resist based on their draft board even if it's at a position that's not a priority need.
