  1. I'd only trade down if we're confident we're still getting a pass rusher like this. We really need one to help the defense take the next step.
  2. I'd rather make him a coach. He offers no value as a player on the roster, he was horrific on the field. I'd rather that 3rd QB spot go to a young developmental prospect.
  3. It's obviously only a good thing if it leads to winning. I definitely remember the continuity "logic" coming out of OBD when Jauron got year #4. It's great if they end up being the right guys, but I think this year #3 is really going to tell the story on the GM and HC whether it's good or bad. I haven't made a big deal about the combined record for these 2 years because I did agree that a rebuild had to happen. But this is where we need to see the big leap.
  4. I know 9-7 with a 1 and done playoff appearance hits the standard for a lot of people, but that's not ever going to be something that should actually move the needle. And I've never even blamed McDermott for the team's overall record in these 2 seasons. It's a rebuild on a team with holes, it would be unrealistic to expect the world so far. I would've judged him the same exact way if Dalton didn't complete that pass and we didn't make the playoffs, I wouldn't have taken anything away from him for that, just like I don't think that automatically wipes out anything negative about him. So that being said...how does any of that change how bad he's been at managing games and in that instance, literally not knowing the implications of what the difference in a tie vs a win was for the team's playoff chances?
  5. This is such garbage. Of course this is the one game where Mahomes can't hit even a wide open target for a TD. I hate football.
  6. I mentioned the high-level and probably lazy version of this. I had forgotten the timeout he had used before that too. Brutal. But yeah, it's hard to see him ever being a guy that's going to outsmart a top coach. The hope with him will be that he'll be a good teacher and we'll have so much talent that it'll soften the blow of how bad a game manager he is. We could definitely do better than McDermott, I think he's a dime a dozen guy.
  7. I wouldn't mind it as long as it's not the "big" acquisition at WR. If it's really just a supplemental move.
  8. When McDermott basically tried to play for a tie against the Colts last season in the snow game, and punted on 4th and 1 from the Colts 40 in OT, and then essentially admitted after the game that he didn't know the implications of what a tie would've done to their playoff chances.
  9. Yeah it's why I never badmouth anyone who leaves a team or goes somewhere questionable for the money. They should go get all they can while they can.
  10. I hope...but they also may go the FA/cheap trade route with Foles or Flacco.
  11. I didn't like Whaley and hated the EJ pick and didn't like the Clay signing...but it's hard for me to kill him on Dareus. He was really good and at times dominant during those 2 years before the extension.
  12. I'm glad he at least sees it. I felt like a lot of people here were still judging him as if he was playing the way he did that first season, and I didn't think he was. He was adequate at best this year.
  13. Haha my favorite Ralph moments were when he hired Marv to be the GM or whatever fake title that was. He led off with a couple of jokes that nobody understood, it was dead quiet at the presser and then he made some comment about paying Tuesday for a hamburger today. I had no idea what was happening.

  15. I'm interested to see if people here will try to make cases about Allen being overrated if we ever get him a nice supporting cast.
  16. Oh I totally agree, especially the game in NE was troubling because it looked like they were sleepwalking through it and it wasn't even competitive.
  17. This is one of the most ridiculous things that gets thrown around on this board sometimes. Yes, it is year 3. They did start the process in year 1, as they should have. And the Bills agreed they were still in the rebuilding process since they rightfully tore it down after 9-7 and a 1 and done with a team that didn't have a high ceiling. I don't know how that in any way wipes out a year of the process. The goal from Day 1 for any regime is to build a perennial legitimate contender...a mediocre season along the way shouldn't alleviate that expectation at all.
  18. If we actually improve significantly, which should be expected in Year 3, the Pats shouldn't automatically mean we're starting 0-2. It would be a huge disappointment if we're not way more competitive in those games. People can say whatever about the score of especially that first game in Buffalo, but the Pats were in control that whole game. I never thought we were going to win. All of that needs to change.
  19. I've always thought that about the Chargers and basically always pick against them in the playoffs...but I do think this year's team is a little different. I think this group is tougher and will be up for the challenge in NE.
  20. I like Josh quite a bit...but yes I would make that trade in a heartbeat. Mahomes looks like an all-timer. KC obviously never would though.
  21. There was this one time when a defensive coordinator with the Jets got the head coaching job and resigned at his introductory press conference and then took the Patriots job.
  22. I was actually hoping the Jets would end up with McCarthy. I'm not sure anyone's done less with more than he has.
  23. I'm at a strange place with this because I do think we're behind on the rebuild in terms of talent overall after 2 off-seasons...however...if they got the most important position right which it appears they may have, that obviously lessens the sting.
  24. Frank here would've been pretty cool. I'm not big on McD so yeah I probably would've been excited about him here. That being said, I haven't watched enough Colts games to know where Frank is in terms of gameday/clock management, which is what McD struggles with the most. I did see when he went for 2 to win when they were down 1 at the end of the game and loved that even if it didn't work out. Not sure we'll ever see that from Mr. "I'd rather tie than lose".
