  1. There are a lot of rules that can be tweaked, improved, eliminated ect. The one thing I would change when it comes to rules is the enforcement of the rules themselves. Many of the rules are subjective and depend on the judgement call of the refs. And I get the "human element" of it all and that they can only see what they see. They have to see it in real time and at real speed with 1,000, things happening all around them. It's a much tougher job than Joe Fan wants to admit. However, in a day where the NFL fines players every week for miniscule things such as blocking...the errors made weekly by the officials go by without them being held accountable. But we do have the technology now to assist them. And that's what I think they should do. There should be an Electric Official assigned every game to call obvious penalties, overrule the bad calls and things like that. Furthermore, when there is a replay I wish the NFL would do what the XFL (or maybe it was one of the other "spring leagues" did...they all kinda blend together) and show the replay official in the booth with live audio so we can hear what they are doing/saying in the review process.
  2. I have a pull out couch and a camper. We're covered.
  3. I share your concern with Brown. First Id heard that he had surgery was yesterday and I immediately thought of how he looked when he didn't have an off-season program a couple years before. Hopefully it's just precautions that kept him from participating. Anyone know if he was swinging a bat at the Micah Hyde softball game? What I'm most concerned about with Brown is that if he can't go or he doesn't play well because of the altered off season is his backups to me are a big bag of bleh. Beane made a point around the draft when discussing Collins that they see him at RT depth and then maybe some guard. And I really like Ryan Van Demark...on the left side. He didn't look great in preseason when they had him at RT. Now maybe a year past that he's improved there and is serviceable but we won't know til we know. As you said at C at least there are some options if McGovern struggles. I think Beane grabbing one of if not the best pure C in the draft is a signal that they aren't really sold on one of either McGovern at C or Edwards at LG. I think over the long term Edwards is a placeholder on the OL and we eventually see McGovern shifted back to LG and the rook at C. But if that happens this year or next...who knows.
  4. Torrence was the guy I wanted before last draft. I was delighted he fell to us in the second round. For a rookie, he looked really good. And I think having a solid RG helped Spencer Brown as the season went on and communication between the two got better. They were beaten on stunts a fair amount, especially early on in the season. I think more reps with Brown will make them pretty solid for this year.
  5. Apparently, business is no longer boomin'.
  6. Tyreek is singlehandedly trying to repopulate the Dolphin fan base.
  7. Statistically, I believe Josh will be Josh year in and year out. But there are things in play that could alter his production a bit. - The subtraction of Gabe Davis. No secret that for multiple reasons, Allen has had a much higher INT% when targeting him. Plus the numerous time we saw last year that they just were not on the same page. - The addition of Joe Brady. There are a lot of things we still don't know about Brady. But Brady did seem to simplify things quite a bit in limited time last year. I do think that Allen may end up with some fewer passes this season. That's not necessarily a bad thing. - I expect the additions of Coleman and Davis in the draft along with a year 2 Kincaid and possibly a healthy Knox will hopefully reduce the importance of Allen in the red zone running the ball. I don't see him even near the amount of TDs rushing he had last year. - Decision making. This is where Brady is another factor. Just the different ways Josh goes through his progressions and where his eyes are at the start of a play. Add in the fact he should be able to cycle through faster without giving an extra second to look at Diggs before moving on. I'm thinking by the end of the year he has roughly the same passing numbers with reduced rushing output. But I believe the story will be how the "turnover machine" cut his INTs in half.
  8. I'm sure all 26 of them are in an uproar.
  9. Here's a spoiler alert. A lot of heartbreak. Some numb feelings. Then more heartbreaking losses. And even now as I've seen Norwood's infamous kick at least 200 times in my lifetime...I still watch with the insane hope that it goes through the uprights.
  10. Looking over the FA lost and it's not stocked full of difference makers...as can be expected this time of year. A few names I'm looking at that could be in the mix. I'm looking at the EDGE position as even with the rookie I feel like it's still a spot that could use a boost. Shaq Lawson- an obvious choice. Solid yet unspectacular. But they know what they would be getting. Carl Lawson- Could have something left in the tank after being mothballed by the Jets last year. Feel like he's got something to prove... especially if he were to line up against the Jets. Emmanuel Ogbah- Buffalo has shown interest in him in the past. Could they do what they did with John Brown and others and circle back to grab him at a value? Jerry Hughes- 12 sacks over the last 2 years in Houston. Would maybe be good as a rotational rusher.
  11. It's also still on Netflix if anyone wants to delay their anguish for a more convenient time.
  12. Not likely to happen, but stranger things have happened in this world. This is the kind of bet you throw $20 at and forget about.
  13. Listen, I saw Beane on McAfee. He said he was drafting a WR with every pick. He didn't. What a liar. He should be thrown into the pit. Or trade him to the Commanders.
  14. So you can accurately quote a line from Hamlet, however can't come up with anything original and use an overstated very old and boring meme punchline. Here's a bit fresher one you can have for free. Guys like you are the reason they put chairs next to the beds in hotel rooms. See, a bit more style to that one. You're welcome.
  15. Not whining at all. Said how much I enjoy these threads. They are seriously some of the best unintentional comedy on the board in my view. This due in large part to some being very overly sensitive. For proof, see the post I quoted in this reply. You are after all the one who chooses to whine about what you perceived as whining on something I wrote a day or two ago. The hypocrisy is blinding.
  16. Show me on the doll where my statement touched you.
  17. No. There's a reason why LS is its own roster spot. Here's the thing. Let's say things stay where some think they will and McGovern is the starting C. SVGP is the likely backup. What happens if McGovern gets hurt? SVGP is now starting. You do not want your LS exposed to injury risk over the course of a game...so chances are they would need to sub him out on STs. It's not a position that just anyone can do... especially with the variance of snap distance between a punt and FG/EP. Throw into that on the FG team it has to be an expert snap each time into a small window with a kneeling down target. These things take reps, practice and skill. Ferguson is one of the best in the game. We've seen games (even playoff games) decided by a substitute snapper.
  18. Looks like that's 16 games. What's the 17th?
  19. Ok. So here's the question. You're accused of a crime and need a set of lawyers to help you do you pick Marcia Clark and Chris Darden or 2 random TBD lawyers? Maybe I should do a poll?
  20. Dude seems like a good guy. Always seems like he's ready to party. He may be here anyway being I think he lives in or near Philly. And the dude did help raise some cash for the Patricia Allen Fund at OCH. But I'm not inviting him to the game to root in his brother. I'll invite him up for the home opener, though. He can crash on the couch.
  21. Ohhhh I LOVE these meltdown threads. My favorites are the ones that give the whole "That's it. I'm not watching" responses. Because we all know 90% of them will watch anyway. And even if you don't watch...it literally doesn't impact the NFL in any way shape or form. Unless you're prepared to organize a massive boycott with millions of people) of any and all networks that stream the games along with every single one of the sponsors that pay to have commercial time or forms of in game advertisement. Because that's where the money train comes from in 2024. Same mentality of someone getting a bad meal at McDonald's and yelling about taking their business elsewhere. They won't miss you. But hey, you showed them for sure.
  22. I'll take it a step further. Now that Diggs is gone...heading into the season Kincaid is the most important player on offense that doesn't wear #17.
  23. Make Miami/KC a Christmas day game in freaking Brazil or Mexico.
  24. It's one of my favorite parts of the NFL season. Watching Jet fans get way too hyped before the season. Getting way too loud and arrogant. Then the season typically goes like this: Preseason: "J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!! WE'RE BACK BABY! THIS IS OUR YEAR!!! JOE DOUGLAS...BEST GM IN FOOTBALL....GUY BROUGHT IN SOME STUDS!!! MIKE FREAKING WILLIAMS? AND WE GET RODGERS BACK?!?!? RODGERS SAYS NO MORE DISTRACTIONS!!! LFGGGGGG!!!" Week 3: "Eh it's just a slow start. Couple guys are hurt. Lots of season left. Hey yous guys see Rodgers on McAfee this week? Said some really weird things again." Week 4: "Mike Williams got injured? I'm sure he'll only miss a game or two" Week 6: "WTF are they doing? Why didn't they fix they OL? Brought in a broke down WR who's now on IR and drafted 2 RBs? Man, they need to fire Joe Douglas " Week 10: "I mean, yeah mathematically we can still win the division...but if we make the playoffs we're the team NO ONE wants to face. By the way, you guys catch any good college games this weekend? Who looks good for the draft next year?" Week 12: "JUST END THE SEASON. FIRE EVERYONE. CUT RODGERS. WOODY JOHNSON...WORST OWNER IN SPORT. I HATE BEING A JETS FAN. AND MY VIAGRA Doesn't WORK ANYMORE."
  25. Gilliam hardly ever shows up in the box score. And typically it can be weeks before an announcer says his name during a game. He's never helped my fantasy football team and is not on the field much when I play Madden. Because of this a chunk of fans every year say he's easily expendable. He is not. For his low salary he fills several roles on the team on both offense and special teams. It may sound like coach speak but every team needs a few guys like this that are just grinding away and doing the dirty work. And he's very good at what he does by most accounts.
