or David Klingler, Dave Brown, Tommy Maddox, Jim Druckenmiller, Daunte Culpepper, Cade McNown, Chad Pennington, Micheal Vick, Todd Marinovich, Dan McGwire, Rich Campbell, Kelly Stouffer, Jeff George, Patrick Ramsey, Alex Smith..........
I think that since this is Chan's first HC job in 11 years, he'll want to make a good impression. I expect him to put the best players we have into the most favorable position to win. If that means Trent is the starter, so be it. I am reserving judgement until the end of September. If we can go 2-2 in that month, I think this team has possibilities.
I wasn't accusing you of hanging out around the gym. I was merely quoting from the movie Airplane, like a few of the previous posters did. "Lighten up, Francis" was also a quote from Stripes.
My least favorites, by position:
QB - J P Losman (indecisive wuss)
WR - Peerless Price (hands of stone)
RB - Travis Henry (Mr. Fumbles)
TE - Robert Royals (couldn't get open if the defense suddenly went blind)
OL - Mike Williams (fat, lazy POS coward)
DE - Erik Flowers (complete 1st round bust)
LB - Keith Ellison (worthless)
DB - Donte Whitner (a cross between a CB and a waterboy)
HC - Mike Mularkey (inexperience showed)
OC - Kevin Gilbride (needed Buddy Ryan to slug him more than once)
DC - Chuck Dickerson (a loudmouth know-it-all who couldn't get the most out of the front seven)
Must be a good memory for you.
Lighten up, Francis. Just playing along like most of the others on this thread. And yes, Spiller looks pretty impressive.
I'm a bit more hard-core than you guys. I compare every player on this team, per position, to the rest of the league and see how they stack up. My list of players (starters only) I would keep is as follows:
1. Fred Jackson
2. Jarius Byrd
3. Brian Moorman
4. Rian Lindell
Players I'd keep as depth:
1. Andy Levitre
2. Eric Wood (if he can still play)
3. Kyle Williams
4. Reggie Corner
Players I'd put on the practice squad:
1. Aaron Maybin (who should be an OLB in a 3-4, IMHO)
2. Shawn Nelson
3. Jonathan Stupar
The rest of the team would be traded or cut. My reasoning is as follows:
My starters consistently show me something every week. My depth players either have great potential, are diligent, or have not been contaminated by this culture of losing.
The remaining players on the roster are either too used to losing (see Lee Evans), just don't have it (see Chris Kelsay), are dogging it (see Marshawn Lynch), are injury-prone (see Paul Posluszny), or are past their prime (see Marcus Stroud).
Anyways, that's my two cents.
I'm with ya, bro. I've just about had enough to the point where I'm giving up on football. If Ralph screws this one up, I'm done. By the way, I'm just across the river from you, in Camas, WA.
I agree that it starts at the top. If Ralph is willing to change for the better and do what it takes to get this team on track again, then you can't get anymore top than that. Next up, GM. We need someone who knows what the f**k they are doing. Then, get the HC, etc.
I'm hoping for either a Super Bowl win this year or the 1st overall pick in the draft next year taken by our new GM, who was hired by our new HC, Bill Cowher.
I blame Leodis only for not hanging on to the ball. He should've went down to one knee at least when the first guy wrapped him up. On a side note, replay showed Jarius Byrd #31 just standing there watching McKelvin get mugged before the ball came out. A little more urgency from his teammates could've helped Leodis.
There is one other play I blame McKelvin for. On a third and long, Brady threw to Faulk and McKelvin whiffed on an open field tackle that could've stopped that drive. The Pats went on to score their second TD that drive.
