Frank Clark arrested for felony
Zerovoltz replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am sure you are right....but even if it were all proven true in a court.....I don't think even one member of this board would quit the Bills....and why would they? You can't even get 53 good apples in a church on Sunday, let alone on an football field. That's just how it is. ....so did all the Charges on Hill.... What is the standard we use? -

I don't see anyone here abandoning the Bills because Ed Oliver and his DUI, firearm issue is still a Bill. And that's fine. You'll see a ton of Broncos fans suddenly not care about sexual assault if DeShaun Watson ends up there....and so on. I'm not trying to advocate FOR any of this awful stuff. I am being realistic. Ried is a "second chance" kind of coach.....maybe that means he really cares about 2nd chances or maybe it means he gains an advantage by taking on some bad dudes who can play. I don't know. maybe both. If you are honest with yourselves....I'd bet most of you will "tolerate" quite a bit before you'd completely abandon your fandom. -

1. Just about every player in the NFL does charity work....including Frank Clark. I'm all for GOOD things. I root for and want good things to happen and I want to celebrate good people. But if all this bad stuff was so important, sports teams wouldn't pay them big money and put up with it. It happens because we generally don't give a crap if a guy was driving around LA with guns illegally (or not) We don't care if the guy was in a bar fight and assaulted someone. We don't want them to, but on Sundays....we don't care...if we did, ratings would be in the tank and no one would buy tickets because there are plenty of bad dudes on teams across the league that we ought to demand better......if we actually cared. 2. I'm not here to tell you Tyreek Hill is a boyscout. I'm not here to make a case that he is a good person. I would tell you to look over the facts again before you wished bodily harm on him. In college, he couldn't afford a lawyer, and in a he said/she said case, his public defender adivsed him to plead guilty and make a deal to avoid jail time. the fact remains he pled guilty. So, that's what we have to go on. I'll take him at his word....and that offense was awful. I'd implore you though to at least consider that alot of people in his position, with no lawyer, do these type deals, and I'd further advise you to read the report of the detective who worked that case who didn't believe any violence had actually occurred. ....I don't claim to know the truth....he plead guilty. I'd direct you to the more current case.....no charges were ever brought. That in and of itself isn't some indicator of his innocence...charges get dropped for stuff all the time..but he has in fact been awarded FULL custody of ALL of his children since. He did not recieve any leauge discipline at all from that case...none. He has hosted very well attended and popular youth football camps in KC before and since. Just be mindful of the entirety of the case is all. Still not a good dude, and certainly not someone I'd ever point to as some shining light in the community. 3. I maintain that if you need your NFL team to be a roster full of super good dudes...you'll have a hard time with this sport as a fan. 4. Almost every player in the leauge does charity work....any agent worth a damn almost always sets this up with the player and team...it's good marketing for both sides. Frank Clark does charity work. Lot's of these guys who aren't that great, do charity work. That isn't the indicator it might have once been....that's part of the job these days. -

A lot of fans like to debate that their team has better charachter guys. It's sports. It's entertainment....one thing is as good to debate as the next I guess....but I have come to accept that many of these guys in pro sports....and in particular pro football....are not especially smart, or good people. Fine. I'd like them all to be fine upstanding pillars of my community. They aren't. Most won't ever be. Some will be problem for the teams PR staff and stain on the community. Fine. Win on Sunday. I'll tolerate some awful humans if they are contributing to wins on Sunday. I hope they improve, grow up, etc...but win on Sunday and don't kill anyone. -

He won't do any time. The lawyers will see to that. Goodell is a different story. Melvin Ingram and Justin Houston are still sitting out there. I'd expect if KC gets the inkling Roger is going to bring the hammer...you'll see KC sign one of those 2. -
RB is a really GLARING need, right?
Zerovoltz replied to Richard Noggin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
@Hapless Bills Fan and others - I can't speak for others, commentators etc...but here are my thoughts on this. CEH didn't have a great season. He was underwhelming, and perhaps most disappointing was his lack of presence in our passing game. I'd say, he had a few moments where you could see talent........specifically, if he got moving in some space, he could juke well and break tackles. I do think that CEH was hurt more than most by having no camp etc last year. They didn't trust him in the pass/pass blocking game at all. he was a non factor. When it mattered, Darrell Williams was on the field. I think I share the opinion of many KC fans, that CEH, given a full camp, and especially given the revamped line....will have a much better year and look more like a guy who was taken in round 1 and the first RB off the board in his class. He did NOT look like that last year, but he did have moments where you could see "it". I saw some chatter here about Oline.....and I'd like to bring up again, without trying to sound too much like a KC Homer....that the O line changes are going to be of a huge impact to the KC offense. Just an overview of what to expect, and how that relates to CEH ----> As mentioned here in other posts, KC is going to likely have 5 new starting O linemen, and the expectation is, this will be the a much better unit than KC has had since Reid arrived and since Mahomes has started. This matters in the case that KC struggled badly to gain rushing yards on 3rd and short, or goal to go. Defenses understood this and didn't have to alter much of their d in short yardage....which resulted in KC either running and being stopped on 3rd and short...OR...without the D having to worry about the run....being aligned to defend the short passing game, wich KC resorted to OFTEN because they couldn't expect success running in these situations. Not being a threat to run, has hurt the O overall as we miss on conversions, and we get jammed up in the Red Zone and at the Goal line for the same reasons...teams sell out to defend the pass because KC couldn't mount any threat at all to gain yards on the ground. If the line proves to be as adverstised, you will see CEH line up and pick up those yards....and if he is trusted to pass block and run routes...he'll be a big passing game threat as well.....as he was advertised to be. If you don't see a dynmaic CEH with this line....then call him a bust. He'll have every shot to succeed this year. -

I am not a lawyer or judge or a resident of CA.....but I am confident that given the circumstances, a well paid, well connected lawyer can get a favorable outcome.... Mr. Clark is a dumbass who happens to be decent at pro football and under an extremely expensive contract for my team. Given all this.....I am rooting for him to get passed this with the means at his disposal in the hopes he'll be playing on sundays. -

I don't either....but considering that Clark has a bunch of money for a good lawyer, and the fact that he had a weapon on the front seat that is NOT registered to him...again, in a car...(the IN the car part, from my understanding gives a TON of wiggle room) ....I am confident the lawyer can make a rediculous but effective defense out of the facts and circumstances that legally extrapolit mr. Clark from a felony charge. What Mr. Goodell does is another matter entirely. -

1. The Lawyer is smart...this is an effective defense for this type of situation. 2. Frank Clark is dumb. But smart enough and rich enough to lawyer his way out of this. 3. Refer to my original statement about NFL teams and speicifically my team, having bad dudes on the team. I'm rooting for Clark's lawyer to get Clark out of this situation he stupidly put himself into. He didn't kill or harm anyone. I could care less what was in the front seat of his car short of a dead body. Hope to see him making meaningful contributions to my team, as long as he's on my team. -

....I won't argue that my team is full of milk drinking, thoughtful, law abiding, upstanding pillars of the community. We all want our guys to be that....many of them aren't and a few of them are just awful people. My team....(and every team) has bad guys on it. some a few more than others...but alot of these guys have been brought up with a bad combo of low IQ, and in a culture that values machismo, violence, and whose heros are often criminals whose badges of honor include time served. That's a bad combo....and if not for some of these guys having talent to pay pro ball...they'd be dead, in prison, etc themselves... Others come from broken or violent homes....and under presure to achieve or win or make a roster, are willing to push limits and break sometimes.... Anyhow....that's the world we live in and on Sunday....we ignore it or accept it....because we want our team to win...a fast, difficult and violent game. If you find that the character of these dudes really matters alot...then this is a sport that will be hard to support.... I have come to terms with the reality that my team has a number of horrible a holes on it. Fine. Win on Sunday. .....the exception being QB. That guy has to be mega aweseome....face of franchise...leader of men and aholes, patient with media....able to handle pressure, smart, and aware at all time who he is and who is around him and where he's at. THAT Guy can't do this crap...he costs to muhc and he means too much. -
KC will probalby have some early issues becasue of continuity....but let's look a little further at this. LT Brown LG Thuney C Humphrey RG (up for grabs) RT also a competition but Niang is who you really prefer to win this job. I will assume you end up with this LT Brown LG Thuney C Huphrey RG Long RT Niang That group is probalby quite a bit stronger, espcially at G-C-G than what they've been rolling out the past 2 seasons. For depth that leaves you with Remmers as swing tackle, Austin Blythe as backup C and G. and then you have Trey Smith being groomed to be your future starting RG...Long can kick out to LT or RT also if needed....and you could then keep LDT, Wylie, or Allegrhetti. Of those 3 Wylie has experience at G and RT. It's deeper and better overall. I do think with a rookie center, and all new guys....gelling is going to be an issue at first. Like half the season maybe...but it is a more talented group....and it is a much deeper group. BEST CASE: Brown is great, Thuney is great. Humphey wins the C job and gets acclimated quickly. Smith suprises and wins the RG job right away. Niang wins the RT job and looks good. Would give you Long, Remmers, Wylie and Blythe as depth pieces...allows you to part ways with expensive LDT. Worst Case. Brown struggles to be the LT/pass protector you hoped for when you traded for him Humphrey can't win the C job and Blythe offers JAG level Center play. Long is a shell of his former self and Smith isn't ready...so LDT or Wylie at RG Niang can't beat out Remmers at RT. The group can't gel. It's entirely possible.

This is the only response I even read....it's perfect. There is ZERO reason for the Bills to think there is anyone in the NFL that gives them any better chance to win a game than Josh Allen already does. I hate this argument. I am tired of it frankly. Mahomes is an elite franchise QB. I feel the very same about Allen. He is an elite franchise QB. Just as Mahomes has endeared himself to the KC fanbase.....we drafted him....we developed him....he's "ours" ....SAME with the Bills fanbase....the Bills took the big risk on him, they stuck with a great plan and developed him...he's taken to your city..and your fan base LOVES HIM! Nobody anywhere should suggest either of these guys should EVER be traded for one another or for anyone else. I Love it that we traded and got our guy....and the next year you guys worked the board and with assets from that trade...helped you to get your guy.....VERY VERY FEW TIMES in history has a trade ever worked out so exceedingly well for ALL PARTIES....someone ought to look into the history of that! Let's enjoy these guys on our teams while we have them and quit arguing over wich one is better.....they are both awesome.

This type of player aquisition is a Chiefs staple. they LOVE going after failed 1st round draft picks and seeing if they got something. Taco Charlton Ogbah DeAndre Baker Cam Erving Hughes Sean Lee I'm sure I'm missing a few, but KC brings these guys in as depth pieces. They don't cost much. Sometimes you get something out of them. Ogbah had 8 sacks in KC, Cam Erving started all over the line as a fill in for a Super Bowl winning team. Sean Lee completely sucked. it doesn't always work..but low risk high reward types.

I think this makes the most sense...usually week 1 is a Monday night Double header....could easily see Dolphins at Bills followed by KC at Chargers .....both teams in AFCCG VS 2 teams that are considered up and coming challengers. Buccs Cowboys problaby makes sense in the opener.....I'd love Bills Buccs as a football fan, but the TV execs probably really like Cowboys Buccs.

I'll take the team with the better QB when it's mostly a wash on the rest of the roster. Even if you thnk Cleveland is deeper and has some spots where they are better than the Bills....its not near enough to be ranked over them...Allen gets you a LOT of points as he should. 1. KC. 2. Bills. Period. -

We won't know for sure until the season is in full swing, but FWIW...KC has the toughest schedule in 2021. Buf has something like 3rd easiest. The first round bye is LEGIT. -

This is as good a spot as any for this...and it's nothing I haven't said before....but man.... It's been a fun few years watching the evoloution of Josh Allen for you guys. I can't tell you enough, that even though I was DEAD WRONG about him coming into the leauge...I wanted him to succeed.. (and my posts here always said that I didn't think he would, but that I'd love to see it) I LOVE to watch Bills games becasue of Josh Allen. He's my 2nd favorite player (behind Mahomes) I'm also happy for the Bills fanbase...you guys deserve the success and the joy of having a true ELITE franchise QB. That's all. -

All of the bolded is LEGIT. Fisher had grown from a bad LT, to barely adequate, to to decent, to above average....and as he grew, the extension he signed back in 15 or 16....that looked awful at first...became a bargain by last season. And he would have been in the final year of that only costing like 11 million or something....Chump change for an above aveage LT that was good at pass protection......had Fisher not gotten hurt VS buffalo..KC would be be rolling with Fisher at LT again this year....they still would have upgraded the interior. ....as far as Brown and the scheme in Baltimore VS the scheme in KC...YES....this is a legit concern...I think it's a factor in why Baltimore went ahead and pulled the trigger trading him to KC....I thiink the saw him as someone who was a much more polished run blocker than pass protector. Also.....KC did NOT just turn around and sing him up to an extension once the trade was consumated.....this might turn out to be a big mistake on KC's part....because if Brown plays well at LT....and KC wants to keep him....it will cost a franchise tag or a block buster extension...like No.1 paid LT money most likely. KC wants to make sure the guy can do the job at a high level before paying him. On that note....something to watch for with Brown....when he was in passing plays...his technique has been to engage his man early, and try and physically dominate him....because he can.....whereas KC's linemen have always been side stepper types...where you start out moving back and too the side to ride the man deep around a pocket.....so Mahomes is accustomed to having his tackles ride the pass rushes back and deep and around...and Mahomes will often then step up and out to the sides when he moves out of the pocket....so there is in fact some differences in Browns game that we will have to see how it all works out this preseason and early season games. -

Zerovoltz replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Never healthy....and for what you pay the guy....it's not worth the money...he just misses to much time....he's a better fit on an up and coming team with a young QB who needs target to rely on to run precise routes etc....not so much on a team aleady loaded.....money would have been better spent....on.....O line. -
1. Chiefs 2. Browns 3. Bills
Zerovoltz replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1st Blythe....If KC carries 9 O lineman...he'd be the 9th one...I suppose that's probalby likely as I thikn they'd rather not ever have to move Thuney to C. I should have included him in my write up. 2nd...that JAGS and their replacements... Lets start with Kpassonagno. I was pretty exicted when they drafted him (same class as Mahomes) I thought they'd coach him up into something really great...he's a beast of man, that just is not and is never gong to be an instinctual football player. This is problaby still the biggest hole on the roster as it now sits...KC drafted Josh Kaindoh in the 4th round....that is NOT a day 1 starter/answer to replace Kpass....Kaindoh is a project type in his own right. KC has Mike Danna (a 5th round pick last year) who is more or less a JAG...and they have some guys who are undersized Defensive tackle types that are miscast as ends, but can play out there in Khalen Saunders and Tershawn Wharton. If the season started today......Chris Jones would play DE on one side, and Clark on the other....the Jaron Reed signing allows for that to happen. Basically, Kpass left and will be replaced by another JAG or JAGS, and/or Chris Jones on the outside quite a bit. Something to watch for...Jones is an effective end when he's been used there. Baushaud Breeland....started the season with a 4 game suspension....he has a reputation as a guy who enjoys his weed (I don't care) ....so maybe that's why he's not signed...perhaps there is another suspension coming we dont' know about yet....KC has been reported to be interested in having him back. He remains an effective outside cover corner when on the field and fits what KC likes to do...I'd love to have him back if he's not going to be suspended etc. That said...as of now he isn't on the roster. KC did NOT draft a CB in this draft....they LOVE La'Jarious Sneed...led all rookie DB in alot of stuff....and was very effective all over the field and showed he could blitz....if you haven't heard of him yet...you will...he's LEGIT. ...so Sneed, Charvarious Ward on the other side again...Rashad Fenton, who has been pretty good so far...plus Honey Badger, Thornhill and Sorenson all back again at Safety. One of the deepest groups on the team, we can handle losing Breeland. Damien Wilson. A Jag when he was signed....played like a Jag....unspectacular player....never really could say he was mistake prone or anything...just never made any big plays....and was not good in coverage. a JAG if there ever was one. They drafted Willie Gay Jr in round 2 last year....started workign him onto the field more and more as the season went along..he DID show playmaking and coverage ability....and he will start there this year....almost certainly an upgrade. And then there is Watkins. I have never understood why KC poured the resources they did into this guy...Mahomes makes your 3rd, 45h and 5th targets look great as is...Watkins didn't bring anything to the group we didn't already have....and the 1st and 2nd guys in the pecking order Hill and Kelce are already bonafide stars. The RB group is supposed to eat up a good share of targets...and then you have the otehr WR's. KC won't notice Watkins is gone...and the guy they did draft....won't start, and won't make an impact this year..but he's in the pipeline.....for this year...Look for Byron Pringle to be the "Sammy Watkins" role player in this years offense...similar size and speed....but contract way way different....same result. Hope this was helpful. -
1. Chiefs 2. Browns 3. Bills
Zerovoltz replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a KC Chiefs tradition....we have played some games WAY WAY too close against teams like Detroit (a game we frankly should have lots) and Carolina...a game that Carolina attempted a 69 yard FG to win the game on the last play.....that was long enough.....but just wide right.... it's a decades long tradition....and KC also tends to play up to competition as well....like when 0-12 KC beat 12-0 GB a good while back... Just to clarify a bit more. KC's line for super bowl LT - Mike Remmers LG - Nick Allegretti C - Autin Reiter RG - Steve Wisneiski RT - Andrew Wylie Remmers was supposed to be the 2nd string RT Allegrettis was the backup C, and 3rd string OG Rieter was the no.1 C Wisnieski was a street FA brought in for the playoffs as depth Wylie was the starting RG, moved to RT. Even with the line healhty, KC was ranked 31st in RUN win rate in the NFL....they've sucked since Morse left to go to the Bills. Projected Line for 2021 LT - Orlando Brown LG - Thuney C - Humphrey RG - One of Trey Smith, Kyle Long or LDT RT - One of Lucas Niang, Kyle Long or Mike Remmers If KC carries 8 or 9 O line men...that will probably be....Brown, Thuney, Humphry, Smith, Niang, (my projected starters.) Then Long, versatile backup, LDT, his cap hit is high..and Remmers...backup OT. If Humphrey got hurt, Thuney would slide to Center, and Long would play guard. If Niang was hurt, that would be Remmers...if Brown hurt, Long or Remmers. and if Long was being used elsewhere and anotehr inury occured, LDT woudl be OG. LDT would be cut, but his cap hit is too much..so he survies. Anyhow....ONLY Remmer looks to even be around from the line that started in the SB...and he's going to end up being the backup RT again, where he belongs. We wont know until we see it on the field...but htis line is the best line KC has probably had in a long time...and almost certainly will be far and away the best line Mahomes had ever had. KC has also been a horrible short yardage and goal line team due to inability to be a threat to run....this should open the playbook back up some. Kpass was very much a JAG. Okafor was very much a JAG. KC had ok pass rush numbers, but it was because we blitzed quite a bit....not because of pressure from ends. Breeland was let go...hasn't signed....and rumors are, KC and he might hook up once again on one year deal. KC loosly rumored to possibly sign Justin Houston as well. Wilson at LB.....very much a JAG. Willie Gay, made quite a few flash plays in limited snaps last year in his place..he will start (last years 2nd round pick) It will be un upgrade for less money. KC's defensive playmakers remain on the roster.... Chris Jones, Honey Badger, La Jarious Sneed. KC was 7-0 and scored 33.0 pts per game when Sammy Watkins didn't play. He was not a key part of the offense. -
Bills 2021 Draft - Overall Assessment
Zerovoltz replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that the Bills should have tried to get one of the 3 down type dynamic RB that were at the top of this draft. I know it was rumored they liked Ettienne...but I think Williams would have been really good in Buffalo. Either way...YES...I do think the Bills should have actively pursued Ettienne, Najee Harris or Williams. .....and your memory is serving you mostly well...I don't think my comments here about Allen would be considered "ridicule"....but if you mean that I was critical of that pick and that I thought Allen would fail, then yes...you would be correct.
