I don't think that's the case at all. I was checking to see how he would respond after that. I thought he played pretty well against the Patriots. Division rivals, I believe on the road, a rookie showcasing himself against a "Tom Terrific" led ball club and he played within himself. Didn't dazzle but also didn't show signs of a player overwhelmed by the stage or show signs of a player consumed by thoughts of the LAC game. Overlooked by others I'm sure, but that says something to me. He stated that he had put the horrific game behind him and learned from it and it proved to be true words and not just lipservice. His last regular game he threw for a TD. No Ints that game or in the one prior. I detected no lingering effects of the Chargers game.

I don't know if you've taken "make things happen" out of its original context. Trying to make things happen, as in he was doing his best to get the offense going (ex., entering the game and picking up the first down on 4th down to extend the drive). He pressed the issue, and paid for it in instances during those games. We already have a QB in that franchise mold, in Josh Allen, so I can't be desperate for one. We were watching the same game I promise you, but of course you'd see a rookie going 5-10 and a completing a nice back shoulder throw for a TD as not very impressive if that rookie is named Nathan Peterman. You were right about Tuel, Brohm, and Brown. I was right about the hire of Sean McDermott during the coaching search. I also spoke about drafting Peterman and it happened. I think Peterman has a shot at starting week one. We'll see how it plays out.

Peterman's first rookie start could fairly be described as "historically bad" but not his entire rookie season. Peterman's ability to move the offense vs. the Saints is what got people really wondering about what the Bills had in him. He produced slightly better than Tyrod Taylor vs. The Bradys and he put points on the board versus the Colts. Peterman was pressing to make things happen. It happened in the LAC game, it happened in the snow game, it happened in the playoffs. Playing better situational football is something that I think he can and will learn to do.

If by "sticking with" Peterman, you mean affording him the opportunity to participate in an open QB competition during the off-season despite an up and down rookie campaign, then yes, the coaches would be sticking with him and doing their due diligence in the process. If that's not what you meant, then you're likely just very disingenuously, using Peterman's past---his rookie season---where he threw 52 total passes in mostly spot duty, as evidence of where he stands presently and are placing a definitive cap on his potential based on that past, for the sake of rendering the idea of promoting Peterman in the future an illogical one. If Peterman wins the starting job, it'll no doubt be due to him showing growth from his rookie season and nothing less.

Spoken like a guy who could care less about the coaches doing their due diligence to find the guy best suited for the starting job. You know good and well that if Peterman were drafted 7th overall you wouldn't consider one start against a sack-happy defensive unit, three passes against a very tough Jags defense while filling-in during a late game situation, for your injured starting QB, who could only lead the offense to three points all game, and 52 pass attempts overall as reason enough to write off a rookie QB. Peterman posted a QB rating of 100 twice, while throwing for a score in those games. Tyrod Taylor bombed in the Patriots game, but it can be said that Peterman was the more productive QB in that game, even if his numbers weren't significantly better. Peterman was a rookie...Taylor was not. Peterman's "several chances" came during limited action as a rookie playing under a dreadful offensive coordinator and you know it. It's absurd of you to suggest that any QB on the Bills roster, should be denied the opportunity of displaying improvement from one season to the next and denied the opportunity to compete for a starting job...especially one who was a rookie just a season ago.

The way I see it, it's McCarron and Peterman's spot to lose. Sort of like the champion in a prize fight, don't get outclassed or dominated by your more fan-pleasing, haymaker-throwing, game opponent and you've got a good chance of going home with the title even if not in spectacular fashion. I think Peterman will prove to be further along in his development than people believe right now.

[Vague Title]Our bills need to consider this

That's possible but it's also possible that they aren't checking for him. -

Why they haven't brought him in could be because he doesn't fit the character of players they want in the locker room. It's one thing to inherit trouble, it's another to invite trouble into your home. -
Alright I agree to the challenge. Josh Allen vs. Nathan Peterman for the starting role barring injury or a McCarron victory. $56.30 (Allen's junior year 56.3 completion percentage at Wyoming) vs. $56.00 (Peterman's NFL career completion percentage (49%), tds (2), and ints (5). Loser also posts a congratulatory internet meme of their QB to the winning QB (Allen and Peterman only). Second week of OTAs begins tomorrow...let's do it!

I miss Leodis McKelvin interviews...

I understood what he was conveying, he just wasn't eloquent. Side note: She looks like she still gave up the panties. -
Much had been said about Josh Allen's accuracy leading up to the draft, so if you lose how about you send me $56.30 into an opened PayPal account representing Allen's college completion percentage in his final year. I lose, I send you a dollar figure not to exceed Nathan Peterman's Buffalo Bills jersey number. Just a proposal.

My guess is that all ten Peterman completions were of the unimpressive, dink-and-dunk variety. from BuffaloBills.com "Benjamin's best play on Thursday came on a play down the seam with Peterman hitting him in stride as he went straight up the field after the catch for what would've been a 20-yard pass play". Don't feel we'll be getting balanced performance reporting from posters in here. Peterman threw a pass too high that turned into a pick and McCarron's stat line was too unimpressive to be recorded or noted apparently. If it's not a McCarron sexy girlfriend sighting, or a sexy Josh Allen throw, I don't know that it's getting reported on in Twitterverse or in here.

Yup and had it "simply" been McCarron's day to take 1st team reps on the 1st day of media accessible OTAs, you along with other the posters who think Peterman starting Week 1an unfathomable possibility, would have no doubt attempted to use it against this thread as a sign that coaches think far less of Peterman than I do. But since Peterman got all the 1st team reps today, let's just downplay it to mean nothing more than simple alternating of 1st team reps between Peterman and McCarron.

If he is successful at adding velocity to his throws the way he's set out to do, he will be significantly better because I too believe his ball placement is very good when having time to set and throw. In college he was very good at throwing his receivers open. No reason to believe that with more work on his mechanics and more confidence entering year two, that this ability isn't put on display more often than in his rookie campaign.

Exactly. McDermott would not have come out to confidently tell the press that Peterman was "ready" to start in the Chargers game if he had not shown great progress as a rookie during practices. You've gotta be doing a good deal of positive things to get the coach behind you as a rookie, despite having a solid vet available. As you stated in the snow game he made great throws, but he also made great throws during preseason, a back shoulder completion to Zay Jones thrown on a line (during a two minute situation I believe) being one that really stood out and showed his capability and willingness to take and make tough, necessary throws as a QB. I don't know if people knew or not, but he was one of the better QB's in his draft class at completing the deep pass. Don't know why so many people think the idea of Peterman making strides from his rookie season and impressing the coaches to the point of being awarded the starting QB position is so farfetched.
