  1. How is this the same mistake over and over? Isn't this the highest The Bills have ever picked a QB? Haven't we all been clamoring for the Bills to draft a franchise QB in the top ten for decades? Didn't Beane move Heaven and Earth to get in the position to do so after a surprising playoff run? Don't confuse the franchise making the same mistakes to you not liking player after theyve done exactly what fans have been asking for.
  2. So it's average at best if Allen turns into a franchise QB, but a total disaster if he's not?typical bills negativity and a terrible take. How about this... It will be the best draft ever if Allen is a franchise QB and average if he's not.
  3. It is a lot of trades but I am starting to think 1 of the 4 top QBs fall and in the end I think it will be Allen. I don't think the Bills can pass him up if he is there at 12 and I have a bad feeling about the dude. He might be great but damn it don't feel like it to me.
  4. And this seems reasonable..... https://www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/news/sports/wp/2018/04/24/final-2018-nfl-mock-draft-patriots-trade-up-but-not-for-a-quarterback/?noredirect=on
  5. Sorry, I misspoke. What I meant to say is it is ignorant to infer that.
  6. You can not infer that. The deal Ballard made for the 6th pick was a trade he felt was in his favor and a deal no other team in the NFL would match which is not hard to understand since getting 3 2nd rounders ofr 3 spots in the draft is an absolute haul. A subsequent trade no matter the team will be a trade that stands on its own. That trade could be with the Bills for that matter. But I ask you, knowing what the Bills have, knowing what the Jets offered and assuming what you said is true about Ballard being a liar and he would have moved out of the top 10, what would you have offered that would trump the Jets offer?
  7. No way I would want my GM to overpay this significantly for the 3rd pick when he has no idea who will be there. If you do, that's a you problem.
  8. March 17th 9:00am Beane calls Ballard: Beane: I'll give you our 21st, 22nd and 65th for your 3rd. Ballard: Hmmm. Give me 5 minutes March 17th 9:05am Ballard calls Maccagnan: Ballard: I've got a decent offer from another team, but we really want to stay in the top 10. What can you offer? Maccagnan: I'll give our 6th, 37th, 49th and next years 2nd rounder, which should be around 35. Ballard: Silence.... more silence... "Where do I sign?" March 17th 9:10am Ballard calls Beane: Ballard: I got a really good deal... Here's what I will need for you to match, Your 21st, 22nd, 53rd, 65th and next years 1st rounder. Beane: Silence... more silence... *click* Yep. Beanes fault. *SARCASM*
  9. You are correct, which is why I hated the Jets move. But, if Barkley is the highest rated guy on the Browns board, which is possible if not likely, the Browns are in a position where they guarantee they get their number one player and guarantee they get one of their highest rated if not their #1 rated QB, especially if their highest rated QB is not named Darnold. I can not remember a draft where the team with the #1 overall pick had this luxury.
  10. I agree with the OP. If Dorsey has all QB's rated the same or if you have Allen as your #1, take Barkley at 1. There is a very good chance you get Allen at 4. Minimum you get one of the top 3. I think it is the smart play. If they didn't have #4 you have to go QB. If you have Darnold as your clear #1, you must take him at 1, he won't be there at 4. It would be very similar to what the Jets did except they gave up a ton to get possibly their 3rd choice QB. The Browns would get who most believe is the #1 player in the draft and be in the same position. Most on the board love the Jets move.
  11. That's not a serious question because that isn't what happened. We have another first round pick, an extra second round pick, Tre White and we made the playoffs last year. Please think before you post.
  12. I just don't think you can trade to 5 without knowing who is available. No way Beane has the same grade on the top four and with the Browns, Giants and Jets possibly taking a QB, IMO its too risky to get hung out with your 4th graded QB.
  13. Thank you for making good sense sir. If there is a run on QB's early good for the Bills at 12. they get top 10 talent at 12. If there is not a run at QB's good for the Bills at 12 to give very little in a trade up to get the QB they may covet at 7 or 9. Gotta wait til Draft night....
  14. If you think giving up 3 second round picks to move up 3 spots with a 50% chance your #1 QB is off the board is a good move then you are part of the few that do. It was the equivalent of giving up the #1 overall pick. It rivels the Whaley move to give an extra first for Sammy Watkins. No way a good GM does that. It was a panic move by GM swinging for the fences to save his job. It's a move you make on draft day when the guy you want IS STILL ON THE BOARD, and even then it's borderline overpayment based simply on the value. Its a move you make to get to #1 not #3.
  15. Really? If there are 4 so-called sure thing QB's: Darnold, Allen, Rosen and Mayfield and the Bills trade up to #2, you don't think they have a huge chance they miss there guy? You think if the Browns take a QB and the Giants take a QB there is not a good chance they miss their guy? Do you not know simple math? No **** Sherlock, but the Jets went from 6 to 3. The Colts dropped 3 spots and gained 3 2nd round picks.??????. And you think the colts would drop to 12 for the same. Brilliance abound at TBD.
  16. I said if the player is available at 7 or 9. The Jets didn't swoop in on the Bills. The Jets made a terrible trade for the #3 pick when they have no idea who will be there. I don't care what anyone says there is no way the Jets have 3 of these 5 QB's rated exactly the same. There is a huge chance they will have to settle on a QB they didn't have rated number 1 after spending 3 second round picks to move up 3 spots. There is no way the bills can get to #2 before the draft unless the Browns announce who they are taking and pinky swear on it. You should prolly go get some kind of medication if you are going to look at the news everyday waiting on a trade into the top 5. It ain't gonna happen before the 15 minutes between the Browns pick and the Giants pick.
  17. This is a good post and I've felt this way at times too. Eventually there is going to be an exceptionally athletic QB that has the pocket presence of a Tom Brady/Peyton Manning and that QB will transform the league. It is going to happen. If Lamar Jackson turns out to be that player, which looks entirely possible, a franchise could set themselves up for years especially if said franchise has an additional 6 picks in the first 3 rounds. I do believe the Buffalo Bills will attempt to trade up to draft a traditional QB. But if for reasons Beane can not control it doesn't happen and Jackson is available at 12, IMO he will draft him. And it could turn out to be the best thing that has happened to the Bills in 25 years. How do they know? They don't know and that's why it's a terrible trade.
  18. No one can touch the Bills with draft capital if the QB they want is available at 7 (Tampa) or 9 (SF). They can slightly overpay for the player they want and keep a ton of picks. If QB's go 1, 2, 3, 5, then I hope AJ is up for the challenge and Beane has some thick skin.
  19. He looked like a cute little pee wee football player during senior week.... Josh Allens release will be about 12" higher when you take into account arm length. There are exceptions, but the dude is too short to use a 2 first rounders on. I could buy in if he falls to 12 (which he prolly won't)
  20. Bills can't make a move to #2 until they know who the Browns pick at 1. And. They can't make a move to #4 until they know who the Browns, Giants and Jets take #1,2,3. Beane is not the type of guy who is going to give up all those picks unless he knows who he can get. This board is going to be in these same hysterics for another month.
  21. I heard this as well and while you are correct that his statements of Rosen were not glowing, he studdered and stammered through the entire interview not just during that portion. More importantly, if any human being uses that interview as a tool to grade that QB, that persons qualifications and therefore his conclusions should be questioned.
  22. I could buy into the idea that Rosen has an Aaron Rodgers type fall in the draft. The question is will he play even close to as well as Rodgers. They seem eerily similar to me. Bills must take him if for some reason he falls to them. In fact, if he makes it past the Broncos at 5 then he should prolly make a trade with the Bucs to get him at 7.
