Congrats on your marriage! What kind of law does she practice? I'm actually a student at the law school now (aiming for patent law myself) and I know exactly what you mean about Lockwood being a good place to study. As an undergrad, I distinctly remember when our tour group walked by the law library and the student guide said: "So this is the law library. It's a bit quieter than Capen... (smirks). Like, one time my friends and I went to check it out and we got shooed away by the law students who were studying... so umm, yeah they're a bit more serious here. Enter at your own risk." She was definitely one of the pep-rally/school spirit/sorority types fwiw 🤣

I guess I incorrectly attributed your suspicions of his claim to a knock on the profession itself considering the whole tone of the post. I believe you're right that engineering jobs are more gig oriented, but that's a general trend in the economy overall, and one perpetuated by employers seeking to cut costs for higher profits, so I didn't see the point in bringing it up fwiw. While difficulty is subjective at some level, here's one objective way to gauge difficulty: the amount of hours the average student studies sorted by discipline. By that measure, engineering students put in more hours per week into studying than any other undergraduate field. And fwiw, I always wrote and edited all of the group projects I had, primarily because the other 3 routinely loathed writing. They also tended to be more socially awkward than average, which doesn't help communication skills either. That's not to say I don't agree with your general expectations of education on one's communication skills, but like you said it takes different skill sets to master different fields, and most of engineering does not involve working on one's communication skills. North. I never got to see the old buildings at the South Campus Most of my lectures were in Knox Hall or Furnas Hall. That's funny about the bathroom shortcut though lol. When did you get your masters?
-
If you're a troll, this is 5-star work and I'll just let you carry on. The fact that I can't truly tell if you are is what makes it masterful.

On draft day, my preferred choice was Darnold. I thought Mayfield had bust written all over him and fit the Browns perfectly. Rosen felt like a trap and I wanted nothing to do with him. I was concerned about Allen ever becoming an accurate QB, but his measurables and arm alone made him my #2 choice. By the time we picked at 7, I was over the Jets taking Darnold and happy that we at least got Allen. I've never been more happy to be wrong about doubting someone. He fits the Bills and our fanbase like a glove (no OJ pun intended).

I'm a little confused. Where are you on the political spectrum? Party affiliation? Some general political beliefs?

Ahh very cool! Where'd you go to school? I got my ChemE at UB. (sorry if you mentioned it before and I forgot) Also, it's a very strange flex to attempt to knock the most difficult of the undergraduate fields of study, @Joe Ferguson forever. Mr. Farley and I are not on the same side of the fence and yet I've found him to be very reasonable in our discussions. I tend to like the points you bring up, and you don't need to go below the belt to do so. Granted, idk the history between you two. I just prefer genuine discourse to poo-flinging.

EDIT: On second thought, I can't actually figure out wtf is happening above so I'll withhold my sarcasm for later. But to wit, it's a bit far fetched to think Kelce and Tay-Tay's relationship is a government psychological operation. Surely anyone with common sense realizes that's Tinfoil Hat Territory.

Lmao, I meant that she has a doctorate; intellectual stimulation is important for offsetting the effects of cognitive decline. I read Tib's post about doctors moments before writing my own and it must've subliminally snuck its way in my post. I was probably my third beer by then too.

Considering that both candidates are very old, the First Lady being a doctor gives me some comfort about rolling Joe out another 4 years. I think Biden will have more of his faculties remaining by 2028 than Trump will.

Thank you for your openness and candor! It was good, clear writing too. While the congressional, gubernatorial, and presidential elections in NY are decidedly Democratic in outcomes, it hasn't stopped me from voting. Especially locally. I took a class in law school called Current Topics in Local Government and it was a great experience. The main takeaway was how much more local municipalities directly affect the day to day lives of their citizens. Despite this, they have disproportionately low turnouts. I'd strongly encourage you to vote in local elections. It's a precious gift even if it's diluted at times.

3 US Troops Killed, 25 injured in Jordan
Capco replied to SCBills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It's also the most-liked post in the thread fwiw. I don't think it's "the" official policy stance of the right, but I bring it up in part because the current coalition isn't really united by policy. There are a significant number who genuinely support the US taking a step back from the current world order (which, iirc, we both agreed on in another thread as the wrong path forward), and they are standing shoulder to shoulder with people who are saying the opposite--that we don't want isolationism. Instead of looking at each other upon hearing an obvious discrepancy of policy opinions, they continue to look straight ahead at the person/thing that they hate. Idk, just a head-scratcher that I'm noticing more and more but can't quite wrap my head around it. -
Brady -> Mahomes AFC dominance is best case for league realignment
Capco replied to Peevo's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, two of them are in the AFC East so I don't mind putting off this whole solving thing for a bit 😅 -
Wow... you don't vote? By choice?

It was in the very first reply, @Doc. -

The reactions on the right are... confusing. If Biden retaliates, then he's just an arm of the military-industrial complex. If Biden doesn't retaliate strongly enough, then he makes us look weak and shows the need for a "strongman" in the White House. If Biden uses it as support for a broader plan to curtail US interventionism, then he's a foreign policy nightmare destabilizing the world order. Like... what's the baby-bear Goldilocks response that's "just right"? -
Where do you stand on the death penalty?
Capco replied to SCBills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Quantitatively, how large of a segment are you referring to? -
Reading "Brady" and it referring to Joe instead of Tom is going to take some getting used to lol.

Doesn't feel like the 49ers want the win. -
Where do you stand on the death penalty?
Capco replied to SCBills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You seem to have a very narrow view of crime. I don't mean that as a put-down either. I just think your correlation between IQ and crime (specifically violent crime) misses a lot of the overall picture. -
Playoff defense not just bad, next level awful
Capco replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think I know what DVOA is. But what tf is EPA? -
I've noticed this as well, especially since the playoffs started and I've had a chance to watch other teams of playoff caliber. Put Allen on the Greatest Show on Turf and that team is probably the first 3-peat SB winner in NFL history.

Capco replied to SCBills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Deterrence, reform, and removal are not mutually exclusive of each other. Punishment is absolutely a deterrence. I didn't commit half a dozen crimes this week alone because I didn't want to be punished. -
Where do you stand on the death penalty?
Capco replied to SCBills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I think it's cruel and unusual punishment. On the other hand, I support one's choice to end their own life via euthanasia, including criminals with life sentences. -
Reading your mention of UFA reminds me of RFA. Are there any RFA WRs worth the 28th (and possibly the 94th?) pick(s) that we could offer a contract to that another team couldn't match? It could be a clever way to turn a late 1st into something less risky and proven, but idk if there's anyone worth it.
