  1. I am not just basing the hot seat on Steelers firing Tomlin - actually I think the Steelers roster is not doing him any favors and he may also want to move to a team with a more competitive roster. There is reason to doubt that an accomplished coach like Tomlin will want to go thru a lengthy rebuild post-Big Ben. Didnt I already say that the Steelers dont fire head coaches? But Tomlin can also decide to leave if the Steelers go for a rebuild. There are too many contenders ready to jump at the chance to get Tomlin, who checks every box.
  2. I already acknowledged that Steelers dont fire HCs. It can be a mutual parting (that is why I said Steelers / Tomlin on the hotseat) - like Carlisle with the Mavs. After the way they imploded down the stretch, it It is hard to see the Steelers contending. It is not just the 1-5 closing stretch - it is the way they lost - losing to a Ryan Finley led Bengals team (with 89 passing yards) - a competitive Tomlin may also decide to move on since he does not want to be part of a long rebuild.
  3. McD will be climbing the list after 2021. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2939461-gauging-how-hot-every-nfl-coachs-seat-is-heading-into-the-2021-draft Zimmer is on the hot seat. And Tomlin / Steeler are also kinda on the hot seat. While the Steelers dont usually fire head coaches, that team has underperformed for a while with no improvement in sight. Without Big Ben, Tomlin may also decide to leave for greener pastures. Oh, and Carroll may also be gone if Wilson and he are not on the same page a few games into the season.
  4. Still waiting on Diggs (lock), Beasley (if they have a separate slot receiver ranking), Bass (shd get some votes) & Poyer / Hyde (shd get some votes). Oliver, another Olineman and a young DE (B, E or R) will get some votes next year.
  5. I dont think they will. Many reasons: Stronger opposition (even the AFCE is stronger this year) Teams have figured out Daboll Offense a bit (see what happened in the playoffs) I still believe we will still get our share of wins since the defense is stronger
  6. Easy yes. 17 Games. Better questions would be - will we average 30 ppg? or will we get 500 points in 16 games?
  7. Slightly different take. FWIW, get seats in and around section 113. That is where the away team’s tunnel is. Hv fun.
  8. https://www.nfl.com/news/jessica-pegula-daughter-of-bills-owners-makes-u-s-olympic-tennis-team Wishing her all the best. She will represent the Bills well.
  9. Hey look on the bright side. He is coaching the same talent level as 2019 / 2020 Jets. But going from HC to OC is definitely a demotion:)
  10. This. The fact that those 3 only had 58 targets shows how badly we need a pass catching tight end. There is little doubt that a healthy Ertz on the field, Allen will go to him a lot more. So replacing partial targets is not the way to look at it - since there is endogeneity with targets and personnel.
  11. I thought they wanted him but were only offering the minimum and the Lions beat that with 1.127 mill. So he was a 2021 tight cap casualty. Do I have the narrative wrong?
  12. Can someone explain to me why the Bills need to "Trade" any kinda draft pick for Ertz and his 8.5 mill deal? There is one team interested in Ertz - just one - The Bills. Why bid against yourself? Wait for the Eagles to release him (no way are they keeping him) and then sign him to a 1 year 5-6 mill deal. With the 2021 Cap where it is, no team is going to pay Ertz more than that. I woulda normally been wary of Belichick, but even he is not going to need a third FA tight end in one offseason.
  13. We have been very aware of this possibility for a while (I know I have posted it since the second round of the draft). That being said, we all know that, at least with Hughes, it is too too premature without knowing how the rookies and Epenesa and Obada do in pads and a Bills uniform. Addison, however, is fair game (I wanted to include him in a trade with Atlanta for TE Hurst). Some writers are starting to take note of the Bills' surplus at DE. FWIW, I like it that these are trade candidates rather than release candidates - shows they still have reasonable contracts and have value. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2944933-1-player-each-nfl-team-should-consider-trading-before-the-2021-season With respect to other teams' assets, I wouldnt mind trading for a safety from the Rams or WFT. Need some depth behind Hyde and Poyer.
  14. That is why they got those big tackles in. They want Spencer Brown to be a people mover. He specifically practiced run blocking with Joe Staley - and his versatility to play in any run blocking scheme was mentioned by various scouts (no way to verify that since there is no video). But there is another point your post raises. You label YBC as an indicator of OL effectiveness. I will submit that, unlike an Anthony Lynn or Greg Roman, Daboll has not been so great with the running game. So it is a joint OL-Daboll thing rather than just an OL thing. He does have middle of the pack running stats primarily because of Josh Allen's improv.
  15. There is a very important point underlying this post. If Rousseau follows the Campbell path to fitness, he too can be a 280-290 lb guy. Beane said two contradictory things while introducing Rousseau a. Rousseau is still growing into his body b. He sees Rousseau at his ideal weight now (260 lb) I interpret this as: Nobody knows how much more growing Rousseau has in him. If he stays 6' 6", then 260 lbs is his ideal weight. If he grows more, he might put on more weight.
  16. Campbell was traded for a 2020 fifth rounder. At 2 yr 23 mill in 2020 and 2021, I woulda loved to have Campbell in there instead of Tommy Doyle. And he woulda helped us last year as well (instead of Butler and Jefferson).
  17. Rousseau at the Canes’ Paradise Camp where the current Canes get to hang out and learn from Alumni. Campbell, ofc, has mentored Rousseau throughout the Draft process. Good to see the young one soaking it all in. I always thought Rousseau was a big dude. But Campbell makes him look puny. He is teaching Rousseau a power move - but is Rousseau big and strong enough for that? Anyways - something to look at during the slow news period.
  18. I was about to agree, but upon reflection I am not so sure. Gilmore, Kiko, McKelvin, pre-injury Aaron WIlliams, Jairus Byrd, Nigel Bradham, Manny Lawson, even Leodis ... did I miss someone? I submit that the 2013 defense was pretty loaded dehind the Dline too.
  19. Dareus 2013 >> Star 2021. Dareus was the single greatest DT talent at the time and was playing for his next contract. Hughes 2013 >> Hughes 2021 Age is a biatch Kyle 2013 ~ Oliver 2021 OK this may be a wash since I do love Oliver - but Kyle was Kyle ya know Mario Williams 2013 >> Rousseau / Epenesa / Basham 2021 . Super Mario was the #1 overall pick for a reason man!! I think if they come close it will be a good achievement, but no way, at this time can we make the statement that 2021 DL >> 2013 DL But, just to humor OP - the 2021 DL does have calling cards that 2013 did not have - 1. Depth: 2013 the drop off from the top 4 was huge. 2. Much as I liked Pettine, I think McD- Frazier have a better Defensive system So, it all depends on how quickly the rookies / Epenesa / Oliver takeoff.
  20. Very nice post. This is one aspect that almost no beat reporter seriously considers in putting out the 53. I think some of the other UDFAs / late signings might make the 53 through a role on ST. We might find our next Lorax.
  21. Quite sure as of now. pls google "josh allen vaccine" and you will get at least 50 sites inferring allen is not vaccinated - includes Buffalonews, Democrat and Chronicle, WGRZ (10 questions with Kyle Brandt) etc.
  22. I was trying to answer your question in a serious manner. That, however, my friend, is a frivolous argument. Are you seriously comparing a safety to a long snapper? {still being serious} Safety is a pretty important position especially in a passing league. What if I told ya, Simmons is better than Jamal Adams, Honey Badger and Minkah Fitzpatrick - names you might have heard of? Two safeties gets drafted in the first round, on average. It is not so useless a position as you make it out to be. Our defense has performed decently the past few years in no small part because of Hyde and Poyer (even Belichick said so).
