What a difference a few years makes. I remember when the best Bills team of the drought (14), went into Foxburrough and beat the Pats. And everyone said it didn’t count because Brady played a half and the rest was Jimmy G. Now people are chiseling his bust.

Well he’s played really well since that point. The guy just stepped in on an awful team and helped them to 5 straight wins to close the season. Pretty hard to overlook that.

I’m not sure Jimmy G is worth two 1sts. Small sample size, and was traded for a 2nd like 3 months ago.

Right. And then he proceeded to start in 5 straight wins for what was arguably the 2nd worst team in the nfl.

lefs not pretend that shouldn’t change his value. I would much rather move for a guy like jimmy g as opposed trading both picks away to move up in the draft.

That all being said I don’t believe for a second that any of these rumors are true.

Nothing will matter if TT is still under center.   People can boo all they want.  Unless you can win all is for naught

how does this even come up in a thread like this?

this is honestly pretty pathetic and speaks volumes. like, what exactly is the point of this in a thread talking about scheduling where literally nobody has even hinted towards talking about the qb.

    pretty sad.

And now he hasnt been healthy in 2 years with injuries to his throwing shoulder. There was a report a couple months ago that the injury was so bad some people were thinking he was done forever. If you could draft a kid in the top 5 (plus trade compensation) or roll the dice that he'll be fine as a new coach/GM what would you do?

Now this is solid reasoning to legitimately move on. Your first statement just wasn’t very accurate. This is a whole different can of worms here. And makes much more sense.

Because frankly at this point he's closer to Jay Cutler than Aaron Rodgers. I loved Andrew Luck when he came into the league, but he's really done nothing worth mentioning besides beat up on the worst division in football and get schooled in the playoffs.

This is just a lazy and inaccurate assessment.

His career record is 43-27. He’s had a 40 td season and another with 31. 3-3 in the playoffs with an appearance in the afc title game is hardly getting schooled. It’s also universally known he’s had little help from any other unit on his teams.

I think you better go check on that guy in your bathtub.

Great piece, Badlands.  I don't think it's a choice though.  Looking at what's next is inevitable, and hashing things out the motivation for why the board exists.

my thing is most of the people who probably voted "no" here are also ones that were probably saying all season how they wouldn't let their guard down and enjoy it until they finally saw the playoffs........ so when exactly did they get to enjoy anything about this year? I honestly don't know why some people are fans becuz from what I see they don't seem to let themselves have any real fun with it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the season as a whole. I let myself buy into the team early. I got disappointed midseason. and then I let myself buy into the fact that we still had a shot at the playoffs week In and week out to close the season. and then I enjoyed a trip to J-ville to watch it play out. i'm also still happy we made it. most exciting season in years. and all some people did was gripe and moan the whole time.

I agree its ok to acknowledge the bills have plenty of holes. but my question is..... if you don't allow yourself to enjoy the season becuz you don't wanna be "fooled again" and then you don't bask in it a bit afterwards, whats the point???? the bills made the playoffs for the first time in 17 years and there are plenty of fans, becuz of how they handled the season, that literally only enjoyed about a week of it. that's absurd and must plain miserable if ya ask me.

I guess I would start with college where McCarron easily win's.

Both QB's played for 4 years as a backup with close to the same amount of games played. McCarron wins again.

Both QB's have played in a playoff game but McCarron won his. He rallied his team that was down by 15 to a victory with a beautiful TD pass to AJ Green to seal the Victory. McCarron wins again.

I would say McCarron is easily primed to have a way better career as a starter. This was way to easy.

McCarron has literally never won a playoff game. If you are gonna say something is easy you need to at least know what you are talking about.

  8. this is AWESOME.... anytime I see something like this it hits home for me. my father, while riding, had a horse come over backwards on him. the horn of the saddle punctured a lung and his middle vertebrate were basically pulverized in pieces..... it took 3 weeks for a toe wiggle. 2 months for a walker and then another 6 months before he was walking without the assistance of a cane. he'll never be the same but he can at least get around.

the scary part about these back injuries is doctors really have no clue how these recoveries will go or how long they will take. sometimes progress is made over YEARS, and the unknown is terrifying. every couple of days I check in on this situation and it warms my heart to see his standing.

I already reported on this, but the Jets and Broncos are the front runners for the Cousins sweepstakes and at least from what I've heard the Jets are willing to back up the Brinks truck big time.

If Denver does land him though it will be interesting to see what happens in the draft since they were rumored to be targeting one of the top guys (Rosen/Darnold).

lol.... it was common knowledge they would be the front runners for anyone that had sense or a tv..... you didn't "report" anything.

Terrell Davis ABSOLUTELY belongs in the HOF, and it's actually a slam dunk. He had 1200 yards rushing and 12 TDs in 8 playoff games, which is staggering. Prorated, his postseason numbers amount to 2,400 rushing yards and 24 TDs over a 16 game season - and this is against the best competition in the league. Plus he was a SB MVP (deservingly so too).

Unlike baseball, postseason performance actually matters in football.

Lydell Mitchell too. He was the first to really occupy the sort of role that Craig filled for a sustained period of time.

that's just massive.... you're right, I think the nfl voters take postseason play into account BIG TIME. and those numbers are NUTS.

I already stated in a prior post that I don't think aikman or Irvin even get thought of for the hall if they didn't have the post-season success they had. especially aikman. both their cumulative numbers over their careers don't stack up very well over other HOF players of their era's.

I'll never be convinced that a good 4 year stretch is worthy of a call to Canton.  Never.

well whatever.... a bunch of others that vote on it apparently disagree.

if davis never got in I would have understood it. but I totally get why he's in as well.

I think the 2 superbowls have something to do with it as well. I don't believe Michael Irvin or aikman get in if they don't have 3 titles. their numbers, especially aikmans, are dwarfed by other HOF players of that era.

The O line should be in the Hall of Fame; not Terrell Davis.  His stats, for Canton, are pathetic.

go look at sayers. nobody is arguing he shouldn't be in.

davis ran for 2000 yds in a season and sat out enough 4th quarters that year that it equaled missing a whole game.

he had a 4 year stretch that was unheard of. some players get in on longevity and consistency(art monk comes to mind) while others have gotten in on short term, insanely dominant, impacts.

    1 minute ago, Gugny said:

Gale Sayers should be in there, either.  Five good seasons doesn't make anyone one of the best.  And Davis only had FOUR.

generational talents that were the best of their brief times. so good that they left a large impact that cant be ignored.

    agree to disagree I guess.

    Conversely ...

How the hell is Terrell Davis IN the Hall of Fame?

    https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/D/DaviTe00.htm

For comparison, here are Craig's stats:

    https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CraiRo00.htm

I think craig has a very valid argument but I cant disagree with davis being in. you cant talk about the nfl of the mid to late 90's without him. he had as dominant a stretch as a runner has ever seen. its very similar to gale sayers short lived dominance and HOF spot.... just to impactful to ignore.

    They are an option.

    http://www.azcardinals.com/roster/player-roster.html

their roster has an avg age of 28.   Beyond Larry Fitzgerald, who do they have?   I don't think many stars (I could be very wrong)

Rams, Seahawks, and 49ers.    If Garoppolo pans out I see 3rd or 4th in the division

If this were true, why did that trade two 1000 yard receivers and their aging but top RB last season?

seriously? i'm not trying to be a jerk but did you even look at the link you just provided? lol. they have stars at some key spots. david Johnson is phenomenal. he led the nfl in scrimmage yds in 16. chandler jones just led the nfl in sacks with 17. tyrann matheiu is a star. Patrick Peterson is arguably the best corner in the nfl.... their defense was 6th in the nfl last year in total yards. they just went 8-8 while missing arguably the best rb in the nfl for the whole season and their starting qb for 9 games. they are completely set up to win. they finished the season 5-4 with Stanton and gabber.

I just pray that wherever he goes it creates a trade opening for the bills in the draft.

Cousins stated he wanted to go to a team and have a chance to win.    Of the teams looking only 3 fit that category.

Buffalo, Jax and Denver (if their defense can hold)

I think Zona fits in there too

edit: I think others had responded with the same thing. Sorry for the redundance

This really sucks but hopefully nobody blames Beane/McD for the recent extension which will now further complicate the Bills salary cap and offseason plans in a very negative way.

The silver lining here, we may already have a very viable and affordable in house replacement here who some have been begging to start at guard or center last year based on his 2016 metrics: Ryan Groy.

Eric Wood you will be missed and glad you at least got to make the playoffs too after being here for the 2008 and 2011 debacles.

he wasn't in the nfl yet. i'm surprised you didn't know that. you're not usually wrong on football matters.....

The ST improved but again the Bills put a lot of resources towards it. That is a major factor. The Bills kept a lot of fringe NFL players to be core ST players. Some teams have better depth guys than Andre Holmes and Joe Webb. It depends on your priorities.

you would think if it was that big of a priority maybe they would try and find a return man worth a crap....
