I'm there with you at this point.  My opinion may change as I watch more and read more

I believe that they would make a trade up, but I find it a bit hard to believe that Beane and McDermott would be sharing any information like that with the players.

hey man. do with it what you like. you don't have to take anything from it. its not like its anything we didn't already know anyways. I don't have a hard time with it at all becuz the same chain of people have fed me a couple other nuggets that were spot on.

he didn't say he heard it from them. just that from what he's gathered from being around everyone and being in the facility long enough that he's confident that's how they go.

and I don't find it hard to believe at all that certain vets of the team have a been given a good idea of which way the team is heading.

Do you really think he missed those throws by mistaking the grass for his receiver? I saw what you saw. He was off his game because of our defense. Coverage was good and the pass rush was effective, if only that it disrupted plays. A number of those passes thrown in to the turf were clearly due to this disruption. They were swing passes and short timing routes, if my memory proves accurate.

I really don't know what it is with Bortles, because he is clearly not a good QB, but to state that he in unable to hit the side of a barn, while he picked apart the Steelers, unprepared as they may have been, is the idiocy that you so often describe.

bills d played really well..... bortles passing was awful though.

No, Bortles' complete inability to hit the side of a barn from the inside held the Jags to 10 points.  He had multiple passes hit the ground 5 yards ahead of his receivers.

totally agree. sometimes when i'm at a game its harder for me to soak in all the play of certain people on the field...... so by the middle of last week I mustered up the courage to watch game from my dvr. MY GOD WAS BORTLES BAD. plenty of open wr's and he's one hopping balls 5 to 10 yds away from them. it was awful. he hit those throws against pitt and it made them loosen up against the run quite a bit.

    Thanks for sharing.

I am skeptical because I doubt McBeane is sharing their draft strategies with members of the team. It just isn't done that way. Also, its about three months too early to have your "draft strategy" set

well I have no idea why the people i'm referring to would have any reason to lie. but you can take from it what you will..... I also knew rex ryan was gonna be the guy a bit before that happened from the same chain of people. now obviously a boat load of things can change from now until the draft. and being "prepared" to use pick as ammo obviously isn't the same thing as for sure doing it. we shall see.

like I said, not too earth shattering. only really confirms what I already believed. the only thing it really does for me is rule out the possibility of a high profile FA. I just cant see them paying a guy a ton of money and still moving picks for a qb.... I think its gotta be one or the other.

  5. Now stick with me here..... For what it’s worth I have a very good friend that’s very close with a certain individual that is very close with a veteran on the team...

Said veteran informed certain individual that then informed my good friend, that what he’s gleaned and heard around the facilities is that they are prepared to use picks as ammo to get their guy in the draft.

Now this isnt earth shattering news by any means but the one thing I think it does is rule out a run at a very high profile FA like cousins..... if it’s true. But I have no reason to think anyone would be lying about it. Becuz like I said, it’s not like it’s some big crazy new thing.

Its hard to get yac when the QB waits for his receiver to be standing still.

Well that train is never late. You honestly are relentless. how about we just acknowledge the dude has a real point instead of needless incessant digs at the qb.

there's the fact that Benjamin has never been a yac guy and then got hurt and that Matthews looked like an undersized TE laboring down the field but even slower than regular sized ones. And that clay is really the only pass catcher on the team to ever have shown the ability run after the catch and that’s seemed to pass him by.

the dude has a point. why keep beating the dead horse?

Beane was not here for the draft nor most of the FA signings. Beane's biggest FA signing was - BOLDIN!!!!

So why are people giving credit to Beane for something he hasn't DONE, I don't know. His biggest trad acquisition - Kelvin Benjamin. Who caught 16 passes! AMAZING IMPACT on the 2nd worst passing offense in the league!

dude... whoa.... chill man... talk about really random rant of the day.

and I give him credit for seeing we could aquire valuable assets for the upcoming draft while still being able to win games.

seriously man.... you gotta take a breath here.

Do people even flash neurons at some of what they write here?  I agree that McBeane deserve credit for rebuilding the secondary and bringing in some quality depth on D.  If they thought they could find players who did as well or better, woot!  They did it.  So I have no quarrel with them for moving on from Gilmore and trading Darby.

But Darby was on his freakin' rookie contract.  He's getting $800k this year and had no dead cap.  That's practically minimum salary.  And the guy's contributing on the team contending for the NFC championship, it's hard to say he's underachieving for his rate of pay.

I noticed that too. but I was just gonna let it lie. haha

    Thanks.

Maybe I have not made myself clear on how I think the Bills should handle Hotrod and the QB situation.

I agree that Hotrod is not a great QB.  However, he is not a garbage QB either.  As demonstrated, we can get the playoffs with him.  The first QB in the last 17 years to be able to do so.  That means something to me.  Our offense took a big step back this year including Shady's ypc dropping by 1.4 and our point total going way down. I think the OC we fired 48 hours after the season was over probably contributed to that as well as the QB.

The off season is when we should try to improve EVERY POSITION including QB.  Key word IMPROVE.  I do not want to just throw away a QB that we can win with on a wing and prayer that we can find someone in the draft or FA.  In my opinion, that's drought thinking.  We're now in the post drought era and it's about winning.  If we can find someone better, we got a great backup.  After this years playoffs are we still thinking backup QBs aren't important?  We got 2 backups going head to head in AFC Championship game.  Cheese meanwhile are sitting at home because they don't have a good one.

I would like to see the Bills keep Hotrod, sign a vet, and draft someone.  Let them battle it out in PS.  Best QB plays.

Passing yards are cool but they are not the end all be all.  The game is played on the field, not the stat sheet.  For example, in week 13 in Cowboys vs Washington game, Dak threw for 102 yards and Kirk Cousins thew for 251 yards?  Who do you think won?  One of them's team won by 24 points.

It's a shame you can't recognize and give credit for the good things hes' done.  Doesn't mean you are CoT whatever that is.  I don't think Nate Peterman is very good, but I will give him credit for making a great play vs Colts on the TD in the EZ to KB.

However, when someone makes an idiotic statement like Hotrod has never thrown a long pass to a WR in stride on the numbers in 3 years time, yeah, I'm gonna dispute that.

everything about this post is just so RIGHT.

the only part I don't know about is what I bolded about tyrod and another vet.... I just think with his bonus and to bring somebody in that could actually make it a competition would wrap too much money up into a position where there just wouldn't be a great return in the investment... you either keep taylor and let him and a rook battle it out. or go find a vet qb the OC hand picks and let him battle it out with the rook. but that's just me picking nits.

WHY did the OP not go further with this???

Coach of the Year -- Bills' Sean McDermott: If Bills fans were ready to put Andy Dalton's name on the New Era Field wall of fame after Buffalo made the playoffs for the first time since 1999, then McDermott should have a statue erected in front of the stadium.

The shortcomings of the team are more reason to consider McDermott for NFL Coach of the Year -- not just in the AFC East. He squeezed nine wins out of a team that was projected by most to win between five and seven. He dealt with the loss of talent (Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, Stephon Gilmore and Marcell Dareus) but managed to get the most out of his players by focusing on the daily process of what it takes to win in the NFL. -- Mike Rodak

what do you even mean "why wouldn't the OP go further into this?". its a click away dude.

I didn't copy and paste anything from the first link becuz you could click on it and it was available to the public.

I copy and pasted the 2nd one becuz it was closed to people that didn't have insider access.

The team and org deserves a lot of credit for the moves they made and the past season. IF...IF...IF (big emphasis here on IF) they can have another good draft/FA period while adding a quality QB the future will be extremely bright long term.

agree 100%.  i'm cautiously optimistic that this last season wasn't beginners luck and we MIGHT actually have some guys that can take the bills to the promised land

  13. Looks like the bills cleaned house in afc east offseason awards. they gave us coach of the year, hyde got DMVP and then white ended up rookie of the year. pretty cool read and always nice to finally see good things being written about the team.

    http://www.espn.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/86561/bills-breakthrough-season-reflected-in-afc-east-awards

and then another article from "espn insider" about re-grading the offseason of each team.... bills come in at the #5 best offseason with an "A-". I did a copy and paste of that one below becuz i imagine not everyone gets insider. i'm sure there will be a handful of people that lose their minds about a certain statement in the last paragragh. but whatever. another positive, and accurate, read on the team. very excited about the future for once!!!!

    http://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/22113660/nfl-re-grading-every-team-2017-offseason

"The grade rises because rookie draft choices Tre'Davious White and Dion Dawkins were immediate contributors in important spots. Both players look like building blocks for new coach Sean McDermott and new general manager Brandon Beane. Fifth-round pick Nathan Peterman did not impress in two starts at quarterback, but he can still be a developmental player.

Safety Micah Hyde was the Bills' biggest investment in free agency. He started all 16 games, picked off five passes, earned a Pro Bowl berth and was named second-team All-Pro. The team's other safety addition, Jordan Poyer, matched Hyde with five interceptions, showing again that McDermott knows how to get production from a position he has coached in the past (Kurt Coleman picked off 11 passes for Carolina in 2015-16, when McDermott was the Panthers' defensive coordinator).

The decision to bring back Tyrod Taylor was obviously the right one, then and now. Buffalo traded receiver Sammy Watkins and cornerback Ronald Darby after our initial grades were published. The moves smelled of tanking, but Buffalo reached the playoffs and added picks. It helped that E.J. Gaines, acquired from the Rams as part of the Watkins trade, became a solid starter when healthy."

A few points I think people are missing:

    1) Daboll is thought of VERY highly by both Bellichick and Saban who have had him on their teams multiple times. They don't hire idiots.

    2) Daboll was going to be the New England OC if McDaniels were to leave for a head coaching job and WOULD have been promoted to OC LAST year when he was with NE as Tight Ends coach if McDaniels got a job as a head coach last year.  So Bellichick clearly thinks he is qualified to be an OC in the NFL.

So for people who are down on the hire, we stole him from Bellichick more or less once McDaniels leaves. For once we out empired the evil empire.  Feel better?

i'm not trying to be difficult I'm just curious about where the bold was heard or read... is it legit? or just rumors? I honestly don't know much about the guy and the bolded is pretty promising if it can be backed up.

ej and trent didn't have winning records or go to the playoffs. but I wouldn't expect you to be able to use any sense in the matter. so whatever man.

keep spewing your garbage around here.... it only makes you look ridiculous.

I think you can be supportive of Tyrod. I just hope you understand that the offense was kind of a joke this year. So naturally Tyrod is gonna shoulder the blame.

I understand that the delivery of peoples thoughts on Tyrod can be harsh. I know you want to defend a guy you support.

I have reasons why I would want Tyrod to not be the QB next year. It's because I don't believe his side of the ball earned the right to go to the Playoffs with the defense. Even when they got to tag along riding on the backs of the defense they put up 3 points in another game the defence handed to them so they could drop out.

The offense has had a tendency to not score points. I don't feel I'm a bad guy for feeling that way. It could be I am blaming Taylor for everything but bros I never seen him light it up this year enough to interested in another try. Even with all the excuses you could afford him.

I could be wrong. It might be possible every excuse is the reason and Tyrod is the man. I just seen enough personally to not give it another try. If you believe Tyrod is the man and a 10-3 exit from the Playoffs is excusable then we just disagree and that is fine.

Look Tyrod is a fine back up. He's proven he can come in and manage a few games enough to win. He's the elite of back up quarter backs even in my view.

almost nobody is saying the bolded there.... its the overtop idiotic irrational posting about him by a select few people that keep these threads going this long.

and I don't think anyone was riding that defense into the playoffs this year. it was horribly inconsistent and most of their rankings were at the bottom of the barrel. just like the offense. the team got to the playoffs becuz they had a knack for turnovers and not turning it over. taylor played a part in that.... in fact, other than that I don't think the team was very good at all and that worries me going forward becuz rarely can a team depend on large amounts of TO's year in and year out.

its very simple for me. I dunno why people go all postal on him. he's won more than he's lost over the last 3 years with inconsistent targets and an inconsistent defense. IMO that's more than a backup qb could do in the nfl. BUT he's basically shown his ceiling. its not enough. its time to move on.

..... its just the handful of people, one of which started this thread, that have clear agendas and cant formulate rational thoughts on taylor.

I know it may be hard for you to believe it but you and a handful of others with over the top irrational views are the only ones that would be doing this... lets not lump rational fans into that category. while most realize we need to move on, your thoughts on the issue are not the majority.... and thank god for that.
