I always love these “I’m done” folks. 17 year playoff drought didn’t do you in. Nope! It was retaining a QB.

You’re not done, see you in the fall!

right?!?!?  it wasn't the 17 years that broke the camels back. he decided to pack it in after the playoff season!

    CLASSIC.

Not entirely true. Milano was removed as a starter with Humber's return which coincided with the 3 game stretch of Jets/Saints/Chargers. After that they reinserted Milano and their run defense went from tire back to average after that. Front 7 has holes I expect them to fill big time but they atleast in my eyes rebounded back to good enough against the run D to not be a liability.

I wouldn't go that far.... they still gave up 190, 160, and 190 in 3 of the next 6 games after the mid season collapse. that's pretty awful. the other games were fairly solid. 55, 93, and 100.... but those first numbers I showed are really really bad.

just an inconsistent d. hands down. no matter who was playing.

I fall in the crowd who wants us to package #21 and #22 to move up, BUT I really really hope a couple nice front 7 prospects are there at #53 and #56.

Green the DT/DE from USC and Nnadi the DT from Florida State come to mind.

oh ya. i'm 100% for moving up to get the qb.... in my ideal world we could make one high profile signing on the interior Dline and hopefully a contributor/depth to the LB's and go into the draft with that area looking much better than it does now.

I think the following would be accurate:

    inconsistent,

    opportunistic, and

back-heavy (secondary way better than front 7)

(given the poor state of our offense, "tired" might be applicable, too)

right there it is... clean up the consistency issues and add some horsepower to the front 7 and it can be a top unit.......... but the 2 words that immediately come to mind are "opportunistic" and "inconsistent"

Is there anyone who wants Taylor as their first choice?

It strikes me that the Tyrod Taylor debate is essentially between those who utterly despise him, and inflate their opinions with cherry-picked data, meaningless invective, outright lunacy, and (as I believe is your case) straw-man arguments versus those who view him as somewhere around average, with clear downsides, and upsides, but not the worst option we have.

At this point, I don't even think Transplantbillsfan has TT as his first choice.

    bingo

Dude, I love me some Mayfield, but you got to try harder on that drawbacks/flaws thing.

    I see three:

    1) short.  short QB aren't drafted in the 1st often, because they do struggle

0 2) public clap-back to many slights/perceived slights.  can he learn to stay within his own head and tune it out?

    3) question on how consistently he sees the whole field and finds passing lanes vs rolling out.

well I was joking around. he obviously has flaws. but I would hate to pass on a star becuz of a couple of inches. and as for the slights? should any buffalo fan care about a public intox? haha.

  7. did anyone else catch the interview with tre white on nfl network a week or two back? at one point he was talking about the draft and that he wouldn't mind seeing a corner drafted high becuz they had a spot to fill..... I tried not reading into it too much but it basically made me think that or wonder if gaines may have informed his close teammates already that he had no future plans that included buffalo.

difference is you seem to like to use the little petty insults, but it's understandable considering the source.

go back and read what I initially wrote about rush saying the game was fixed and then him saying it was a taylor excuse..... that's honestly just a really dumb/ignorant response. It warranted saying so.

    good talk, bruh.

    Bumped for Kirby

well there ya have it! they threw the game! literally no crappy offensive lineman has missed an assignment on an elite pass rusher before! they obviously did this for taylor!

You're better than this awful take. I think.

lol.... have you read anything from him since midseason? he's most definitely not above this.

The talk was about how the team threw the game to support Tyrod over Peterman. You called it dumb to suggest the team wouldn't do that even though there is evidence of different. Now you call me ignorant, does calling names make you feel powerful? Pretty impressive how the COT resorts to name calling all the time whenever they do not like a conversation against there saviour.

dude..... how exactly does saying the team didn't throw that game = an excuse for tyrod? that literally makes no sense.

  11. 9 minutes ago, Rocky Landing said:

Yeah, that's not the first time Mills has sucked.

If you're suggesting that Mills, or any other player, intentionally threw the first half of that game because of loyalty to Tyrod, or some other similar conspiracy theory, you're as high as xRushx.

The Bills were a rudderless ship with Peterman at the helm. I'm sure, from your other posts, that you'd love to put that on Tyrod (or McD, or the entire rest of the team, perhaps). I don't. I put it on Peterman. They looked like a different team in the second half.

gug and rush have both come out and stated before they thought the bills line threw that game...... its honestly just dumb.

And yet, a number of articles were written about how Brees wasn't being "Brees" in terms of the usual way of chucking the ball all over....how the Defense and running game were the principal players of their success. Also, you don't wait until the horse is ready to be shot before you move him to the stable from the wild fields of roaming free....you see when it's healthiest and best AHEAD of such disaster....wanting to run Shady into the ground is not a recipe for success.

I might be wrong, but I'll go out on a limb and say that whether Shady plays for the Bills or for another team, if he's used in his current role, about 10 games in he'll start to wear down and he'll start missing a step here and there, maybe even sooner depending on how games are played. Now, if Beane were to Draft a guy to be the "lead" back, and use Shady as the compliment, then even though I would advise against spending that kind of money on a back-up RB, at least Shady could be fresh and able to contribute throughout the season....I just don't think Shady can keep the heavy workload for an entire season including, hopefully, the post-season.

I would argue, with a better team and pass game around him like you talked about earlier, shady would be even more lethal on less touches.... and maybe even prolong his career.

or not.... but I think that's a real possibility. sadly, I think by the time they get the pass game figured out the tread will be all but worn bald.

He’s not expendable. Elite backs aren’t expendable. Look how much better Dallas is when Zeke is on the field. Jacksonville has Fournette and Pittsburgh Bell. The Chiefs offense was better than ever once they added Hunt. The Saints didn’t win again until they had 2 Pro Bowl backs. The Bills would never gut what they do well to do something differently. The biggest misconception in football is that an elite RB doesn’t matter. The NFL has wised up to this over the last few years as we are seeing a return to 1st round RBs.

right. the "dime a dozen" argument drives me nuts. sure a 900-1000 yd back for a season is a dime a dozen. but gamechangers.... ELITE backs are far from a dime a dozen and you have to grab them early.

if anything a passing game makes shady a complete NIGHTMARE(even more so than he is now) for opposing defenses. the guy is lethal in space. if teams had to back off and give him that space..... good lord it would be a thing to behold.

  14. #5 is really the biggest point here. And the one the “anyone but Tyrod” maniacs can’t seem to grasp.

Does it really matter who the qb is next year as long as the bills get their guy in the draft this spring? I keep seeing “I can’t sit through another year of Taylor. Blah blah blah..... uhhh I could totally sit through another competitive playoff push knowing a rookie is developing and waiting patiently to take over.

Other than cousins does anyone truly honestly believe any of the vet qb’s out there push the bills past 9 or 10 wins?

I wonder if you would have replaced McCown with Foles, a year ago.

Fair point. Foles is in a unique environment with qb conducive coaching. I don’t think of him what a lot of people might.

He’s was in a perfect storm having coaches willing to work with your strengths(both former pro qb’s) and having an amazing squad all around him. I believe Wentz is the real deal but put those 2 on a lot of other teams, ESPECIALLY FOLES, and I don’t believe they produce at that level. Foles not even close. We’ve seen it

i wouldnt mind mccown FTR. I just don’t go around here needlessly bashing Taylor to prove why. It would be a fairly lateral move. But he would be cheaper so there’s that. But whatever.
