  1. brand new staff. massive roster turnover. then STILL breaking the drought and making the playoffs and giving the team postseason experience.... all while accruing ammo in the draft to go up and get a qb they deem fit to carry on the momentum....

how could anyone wish for a tank in that situation. I've heard a couple people talk that way and it disgusts me. this last year was the definition of having your cake and eating it too. it was the most enjoyable season I've had from start to finish(not just that last week) in my 32 years and the future is looking bright. cant ask for a lot more.

I love everyone saying this is insane money.

It's what bona fide starting QBs in the NFL make.   Compared to what you and I make, sure it's insane.   In the NFL, he's getting exactly what he should.

If the Vikings win a Super Bowl with him, is anyone going to think the guy was overpaid?   If they win two, he'll be a bargain.

right. and i'd have to say if they land cousins its them and philly as the favorites.... on paper at least.

windows come and go quickly in the nfl, it seems. they need to maximize their chances. they have an elite roster and are getting Dalvin cook back in the lineup. they have the potential to be scary good for a short time here.

First person that comes to mind was that running back from University of Arizona who dominated the combine, 40 in particular....but wasn't any good.  He was taken in the 2nd round and didn't do squat in the NFL.  Can't remember his name.

Bruce Campbell dominated the combine a few years ago.  He was an offensive tackle from Maryland was taken earlier just because of his measurable s.

    He's in the CFL now.

I'm fairly certain his last name was henry and he was taken by TENN even though they had plenty of talent in the backfield already..... and that was that.

I'm surprised Bills fans of all people are rejecting a 1st round pick for Foles. We're probably the only team that this makes sense for. We would still have a 1st round pick AND the QB that just beat the Patriots. What am I missing here? Hell if we want to solve the QB position once and for all we use our other 1st round on someone like Lamar Jackson and let them sit behind Foles. Time to think outside the box.

I personally think foles was in the perfect situation on that team and with those coaches. that's a dream staff to work with if you are a qb..... and a really good team all around.

Eagles have fielded - not solicited - more than one inquiry and offer for Nick Foles. Eagles' basic answer is it's going to take more than the 1st and 4th round picks they got from Vikings for Sam Bradford. Foles is Super Bowl MVP and best insurance policy in NFL.

No to me. He will be remembered as the only qb we had during a 10 year span that could operate a modern day passing offense. Also showed up with no offseason and went 7-5 with wins against GB, @ NE @ Det smoked the jets twice. Beat the Pats with Brady playing 1 half and Jimmy G playing the 2nd. 2 guys everyone raves about. That 14 team ends the drought if EJ doesn’t play in Houston. A pocket qb that understands he’s important to the the team and live to play another down. That’s what most good QBs do. Not take hits and not get hurt.

duuuudddeee. easy now.... a lot of qb's could have went 7-5 with that defense and where the offense was routinely getting the ball.

orton did a serviceable job considering his circumstances but if a qb couldn't win games with that 14 defense they just suck. I sure did enjoy watching him basically come in with what looked to not be a care in the world and have some nice games here and there though. definitely had a fun bravado about him and it was a cool story.

Im going to guess he doesn't need surgery. He's a big thick guy and he was only benching 225. If it was a skinnier guy benching twice his weight for instance I think it would do way more damage. The guys I know that have had bad tears did it with high weight low reps

I would assume this was cumulative effect of a couple months of chasing reps and developing spotty movement patterns during his sessions chasing said reps. like you said. this is light weight for large mammal like that. I don't necessarily think it was the weight that did it, as it was most like a glitch in his mechanics over months...... which, like you pointed out earlier, are usually compromised with any barbell pressing movement.

as the local fitness pro in my area I work 2 different high school football teams and a wrestling squad. as well as training a handful of the athletes personally.... In the summer programs I have to bang into these kids heads that they don't need to be hammering out the bench and chasing numbers there.... if we do its a closer medium to shoulder width grip for the lineman and its mostly velocity and dynamic work at submaximal loads.

hopefully its not to serious and doesn't nag him for awhile. tough break.

    road games don't matter?

    18 point freaking 3!!!

geez man. please go back and read...... he had initially stated he wouldn't be giving them a dime to go to games if taylor was qb.... I then said that if he had been going to the games in orchard park to spend his money that I didn't witness any real awful money wasting games this year. he then said he played awful on the road AND at home. I then went on to refute that...

as a general rule taylor WASNT good enough this year. but he played well at home. which was my initial point when he said he wouldn't  be going to any games. I had assumed he meant in orchard park becuz that's where most bills fans go to watch the games. get it now?

    Where are the missing weeks?

    QBR  -   18.3, 51.4, 63.1, 31.4,  29.3 and 27.2

these were just his home games.... that was the argument. he said he played awful all year at home.... that wasn't the case.

taylor had just as many bad games as solid ones.... i'm over him. lets move on. I was ready to do that last year at this time. but when somebody says he was awful all year at home or away, that's just not true. so I went and got the numbers for the home games. 2 of which were downright HORRIBLE, while the rest were average to fairly good.

The strutting around and squawking is almost as weak as Gugny starting the whole mess by calling Stank a "manchild" -- Gugny is a pretty successful **** stirrer in case you have missed that.

Talk about using the internet to inflate ones stature, it appears you have the market cornered.

/end conversation.  Have fun in Study Hall.

right.... when you need to start picking stuff like that out its obviously done. you're all class. lets pick out grammar and lay broad statements and when somebody refutes it with actual evidence we'll just say "nope, i'm right. just becuz..... i'm really sure it was hard to get my message because of the fact I used "becuz".

grammar shaming is seriously the lamest last ditch option. just makes me laugh. good call though. nice work. I could 13 yrs old and it still wouldn't change the fact that you were wrong on what I pointed out.

EDIT: its spell shaming. what an idiot I must be.

Leg work?  I watched the games.  In three years, if you haven't figured out that Taylor's stats paint an inaccurate picture, then I really don't know what to tell you.

If having under 100 yards passing in most halves of games = success to you, then great.  To me -  it means the QB sucks.

As for the wins - you can thank the 50+ yard field goals, crappy opponents and lucky/gift INTs that happened in nearly every win.

The Bills won EXACTLY ZERO games BECAUSE of "how well Tyrod Taylor played."

There are no stats you can look up for that, I'm sorry.

And the fact that you're citing QB Rating ... well ... that's just silly.

My assessment of Tyrod Taylor is absolutely accurate and absolutely fair.

if you walked away from most of the home games I cited and felt he played awful. then no..... the bolded is 100% inaccurate.

and just so i'm reading this right...... becuz they didn't win BECAUSE of him he played awful? I just wanna make sure we are on the same page here. plus i'd like to know just how far gone you are.

  14. my stance hasn't changed on this no matter what they've said. I think there is hardly any chance of taylor playing for the bills next year. I can only hope it doesn't draw out for a long time and they sign their vet with the first couple of days so they can let taylor and that bonus walk.

    Do you work for ESPN?

look at those numbers. team it with the W's.... and then with a straight face tell me he played awful at home. you were wrong. its fine. you didn't do any sort of leg work. you made a blanket statement and it was wrong. deal with it..... the irony is you calling me the "man-child"

dude..... it  just makes you look foolish. he didn't play awful at home as a general rule. that's the bottom line. you can not like taylor, be ready to move on and at least still be accurate and fair.

I'm sorry, manchild.  But you're wrong.  That 5-2 record at home that you keep throwing out had little (and I'm being generous by not saying "nothing") to do with Tyrod Taylor.

This is an old conversation that I'm not going to continue with you.

    Toodles.

well that was a errant message that I was in the middle of. somehow my fingers hit post before any of it was done..... go look at the numbers for his home games and you literally cannot fabricate that he played bad.....

no need to be a complete jerk.... but I get it. its sorta your thing.

    Toodles.

week 1 vs jets- 262 total yds, 2td, 1 int, 92 rating.... putrid right?

week 3 vs den- 226 total yds 2 td, 0 int, 126 rating..... another awful game right?

week 6 vs tampa- 321 total yds, 1 td, 0 int 96 rating..... soooo bad right?

week 7 vs raiders- 166 total yds, 2td, 0 int, 101 rating.... awful? not really?

week 9 vs NO- 56 yds, 0 td, 1int..... he seriously was awful that day for sure

week 12 vs pats- 65 pass yds, 0td, 1int.... again. seriously bad.

week 15 vs fins- 266 total yds, 2 td, 0int, 94 rating..... another awful one I guess?

I'm ready to move on. personally I don't care who the vet is next year. that means nothing to me becuz its all about whomever they draft and their development. but what I wont do is make false statements to prove why. maybe before being a complete jag-off you actually do some research next time.

I'll still love the Bills if Tyrod is the starter next year.

I won't spend a dime on them until he's gone ... but I'll still love 'em.

And no ... it's not a "protest," and I know the Bills wouldn't feel it/give a ****.  It's simply a decision I've made to not spend hundreds of dollars to go to a game and watch crap football again.

I mean.... they went 6-2 at home and then snuck into the playoffs.... unless you were going to away games how much crap football did you actually catch in orchard park?

I got to see NY, DEN, and Miami and never walked out thinking.... man i'm not giving these guys another dime. though i'll admit i'd never drive 15 hours to a playoff game again. lets not pretend like they were awful last year or the qb played awful at home as a general rule.... that just wasn't the case.

oh the horror of sitting through another potential 9-7 season with our new rookie waiting in the wings to take over! kill me now!

all that being said. I just hope they find a reliable vet to sign in the first day or 2 of free agency before tyrods bonus is due and we can move on and then it wont get talked about anymore.... doesn't matter what vet is starting the season next year. its all about the draft and hopefully getting the guy they want.

  18. 3 hours ago, Thurman#1 said:

    Me too.

I love them even when they make mistakes.

But we see last year differently. I have no interest in the playoffs. Didn't last year either. I want this team to be competitive for a Super Bowl title. Nothing less means squat to me. Last year's team was not good enough to be competitive for a title and frankly I wish they had lost more games instead and improved their draft position.

I'm glad for people who feel this was a monkey off their back. My monkey is still there and will be till we're truly an excellent team.

Most teams need to see and experience the playoff atmosphere first before they make their run. I have no clue how you couldn’t be happy for the team to get playoff experience while adding draft capitol for 2018.

I think last year was an absolute success for the present and the future. I’m sorry you didn’t get to enjoy it.

People that are happy about the playoff birth are also capable of thinking about the long term as well. it’s possible to enjoy last year, recognize it was a step in the right direction, and still want a Super Bowl. I literally don’t know how you can look back at last year after having a brand new staff,  the talent they unloaded, the draft capitol they got, and then the run to the playoffs they made and say.... “eh whatever. Wish we had lost more games”. IMO that’s absolutely crazy... and sorta disgusting to me honestly. I’m not trying to be a jerk. But it is to me.

Losing isn’t the only way to get there man. In fact I would argue this years model is a more stable version.

If a fan cant sit back and enjoy last season after 17 years I honestly don’t understand the point of watching at all.

which QB?  The difference with the rookie if they take a 1st round guy is they don't need him to instantly play better.  The benching would be even more inevitable than this year's and it will be "look at poor old under appreciated Tyrod again" in the national media.  I believe McDermott and Beane have zero appetite for that.

this is a really fair point. and as a guy that has gone to bat for taylor quite a bit.... I don't think he could find a level of play good enough to quell the benching talks all together. which goes back to your "band aid" point.
