Those were some of my points...

emmitt had over 1700 more carries than Thurman... extrapolate Thurman’s 4.2 over 1700 carries and he retires around 18000 and the record

You are totally downplaying smiths durability and productivity through those touches.

Thurmans body was DONE by the time he was in Miami that last season. Transferring Thurman’s 4.2 per carry to another 1700 carries is honestly just foolish. The guys body couldn’t take it. Emmitts did. And tha attribute needs to be equated into the argument.

Yes. I mean no one had that guy linked to the Bills that I saw and he posted “they are picking Ron Darby” In the week leading up to the draft. Clearly he was saying, if he was available.

Ya. That one came from left field. I would say that would nail down somebodies credibility if they called that one. Haha

Laugh at a conspiracy-monger who looks like a ludicrous fool and what does he do? Double-down, and be twice more ludicrous still.

    Let's unpack Gugny's escalation :

His theory? Having uncovered the plot of a secret o-line cabal to throw an NFL game, justice from McBeane was swift and merciless:

    • Except it wasn't swift was it? The same linemen continued to start the weeks following the crime. Me? If I was the coach and discovered my players sabotaged the team, I'd sit them down, even if I had to scrap every practice squad bare to do so. But I'm not a "high-character" kind of coach like McDermott, who was apparently satisfied to put "deal with players fixing games" at the bottom of his very long to-do list.
    • But justice was merciless per Gugny. Sure. In the case of Incognito, the heavy price for throwing a Bills game was a new contract on March 21 - with a base salary of $3,650,000 and a $1 million signing bonus. Who says McBeane doesn't rule with an iron fist? If Richie had thrown two games they'd have probably cut that sucker all the way back to 3.5 million.
    • But Incognito wasn't the only miscreant punished per Gugny. Eric Woods was also muscled out for his part in the crime. Obviously the doctors were paid off, the hospital forced to sing the tune, the x-rays fabricated. Given how complicated that had to be, you'd think it'd be easier just to punish Eric with a million dollar check like Richie.
    • But other saboteurs were purged, per Gugny. The whole "Moving up to Twelve" thing was just cover for McBeane's secret vengeance. Granted, Cordy Glenn didn't even play the game in question, but Gugny probably has him pegged as the puppet-master, running the plot behind the scenes.
    • Meanwhile, main suspect Mills somehow escapes McBeane's wrath. Go figure, huh? I'm guessing Gugny sees that as temporary. Soon the hidden hand of justice will strike : Mills will be hit by "lightening", or eaten by "sharks", or exposed to a Russian nerve agent.
    • And poor Tyrod just gets no respect. After all, the o-line played just as bad Thursday Night against the Jets, but apparent no one is going to the guillotine for that crime.

This is just gold here. Thank you for this.

Not even being sarcastic.  I've been doing this too long and feeling like they are losing the offseason like they lose the regular season is not fun.  Wrong or right if I just felt like everything was great it would be nice.  So sick of losing and then also feeling like they are going in the wrong direction.   I'm all for drafting a QB but they've been outmanuevered as far as draft position and now we have little offensive line and no pass catchers.  That's before we introduce a professional coach who's career point scoring average a little over 2 field goals.  It's just too much.  I need to step away.  Come back for the preseason and hope the coaches and GM have made some fixes.

    geez dude....

  5. I have no clue what I want to happen.... I know it involves a qb and that's about it. I've talked myself in and out of about every possible scenario involving that position at this point.

just gonna try to sit down after work, grab a big glass of "process" to sip on, and enjoy the draft night hopefully.

it just so happens to be my birthday on the 26th so baker Mayfield jumping out of a cake for the bills first round selection would be kinda cool.

Hey, man child, do you really believe Incognito is retiring due to injury related issues?  Do you believe it just because he said it?

yes I do. that being said.... how bout I give you incognito.... explain the other 2 into your theory. one retired due to injury and the other didn't play. or are there conspiracies that go along with those 2 as well? you seem to be chock-full of that sort of nonsense.

it was a dumb point(or lack thereof), dude. you didn't think it out and it didn't make any sense...... and i'm the man-child. that's cute.

When I was 12, I attended my first Bills home game.  It was 1995.

The Bills beat the Chiefs 44-10 I think.

My dad and I were waiting on the players to walk out to get autographs.  Jim Kelly walks out and the a crowd just consumes him.  I wiggle my way through and give him my card.

As he's walking and signing the cards...I end up behind him.  He signs mine and being that he's 6''3...I couldn't reach up to his hand because I'm getting swallowed by the mob of other fans.  Someone else takes the card.  I'm heartbroken.

I follow Jim all the way to his RV's.  Once Jim walks in, everyone left except me.  I had teary eyes and a guy walks up to me and asked what happened.  I told him and he said "well I'm Jim's brother....let's take care of this".  He puts his hand on my back and walks me into Jim's RV.  When I walk in, the first two people I see are Jim's parents.  I was frozen and they just smiled at me.

Jim's brother walks to the back of the RV where Jim is sitting.  Jim's brother then walks up to me and grabs my hat off my head, gives it to Jim and he signs it.  I didn't see Jim in the RV but could hear his voice.  His brother walks back to me, puts the hat on my head and said "hope this makes your day" and then walks me out.  I was the happiest 12 year old in the entire world at that time.

    cool story. thanks for sharing.

Honestly, lame as this may be, right now it's Andy Dalton getting us into the playoffs.

My sons are 10 and 6. I have been married to my wife for 12 years. They are all good Bills fans who had NEVER seen ANY real success, ANYTHING that meant a damn thing at the end of the day. But they keep the faith. Well, I got a ton of joy from my family losing our collective minds (including my mother in law, who decided just this year to start watching games with us) when Andy Dalton hit that TD pass.

(My ten year old isn't really a sports guy though, and when we lost to the Jags, he cried. I was really surprised because he's never cared THAT much. I said to my wife, man this really upset him, I didn't think he cared this much. She said, he's upset because he wanted you to be as happy as you were last week when we won. Damn son. Damn. )

my wife and I got a hotel room at a new years party that night up in erie pa. I packed my bills tie just in case they pulled it off. after we had got checked we went to a local bar to watch the game.... came back and got dressed up to party all night(with the bills tie that didn't match my suit in the least) at the banquet in the hotel and I seriously had people coming up all night and sincerely congratulating me for the duration. haha. what a night, man..... I'll remember that random bar and that new years party for the rest of my life no matter what other memories the bills make me going forward.

  8. I was only in elementary school back in the glory days of the early 90's and not nearly as emotionally invested.

I would have to say my favorite live game memories were EJ manuel to stevie as time wound down against the panthers. at that point I thought we were really on to something with him and the ralph went nuts.... and then even though it was a loss, I made myself really soak the feeling and atmosphere down in Jacksonville this year as we got the ball with a couple minutes left and about 70 yds to go. really made sure I appreciated that scenario and the magnitude.

and then obviously I will always remember where I was when boyd broke loose for the td that ultimately helped us into the playoffs, the reactions and the week that followed. so far for me that's an all timer.

  9. I’m expecting 2018 to be the what I thought 17 would be..... bad.

Usually the more we get through the offseason and the more I think about it. The more I always talk myself into a good year. I’m feeling the exact opposite for this offseason. The more it goes along and the more I reflect on it the worse I feel about 2018.

Oh well. Got a playoff bid in there. Now grab our qb. Take the same lumps we’ve been used to for almost 20 years now and I still think the future is bright.

    Shocking win at Atlanta.

Shocking win at KC after clearly being the worst team in football for the prior 3 games.

Indy getting jobbed on their 2-pt conversion in the snow game.

That's 9-7 instead of 6-10.  And even with that you need the Dalton miracle.

This is so lame. You can literally look at almost any teams schedule and do this for or against them.

  11. Protected the ball

    Took the ball away

    weak afc

i personally think we take a slight step back this year just based on the fact I don’t think you can bank on those types of turnovers year in and year out and the AFC can’t possibly be that lame again this year.

That being said I can’t stand it when people give “the miracle” all the credit. Bottom line is the bills did what they needed to over 16 games and the ravens didn’t. People usually only use that lame excuse to support a lame narrative about how the old qb was awful, the team still sucks, or that we should have tanked.

Only Problem with that is what if you don't trade to 2 to get allen but trade to 6 to get Mayfield but then hes taken at 5 then you are stuck with no qb you wanted

well ya.... i'd rather have Mayfield at 2 or wherever else. so whatever. i'm just not huge on allen. but I don't get paid to pick players so i'm not gonna pretend like I ultimately know one way or the other if its gonna pan out.

Why would you say this to a long time season ticket holder, is it because truth is the Bills always just miss when it comes to waiting for a QB to drop to the value they hold said QB at?

IMO do what they can now or some other team will pull a Jet on them and then it's too late. Take the top 10 pick now and hope the draft day trade even happens, sadly I will not count on it. The waiting game fails everytime just look at the last few decades.

ugh.... will you change the freaking record already? you and your typical doom and gloom. the new guys in charge have done plenty already that no other staff has done. will you quit with this crap already? it was the same thing during the season week in and week out the whole last 2 months.

I've been confident since the trades in august that they would be going and getting the qb they want and nothing they've done since then says differently. you gotta stop with this stuff man. good lord.

    In conclusion...

    • 3) IF the same pedestrian passing yards was good for Buffalo in 2017 then the same pedestrian passing yards should be good for Buffalo in 2018.

uh. it wasn't good for them. that's why the old qb is now gone. that's why I was ready to move on from him after 16. you just mistake my rational view of the prior qb, and me not having ridiculous takes on him or bashing him constantly, as apparently saying he was good enough. that's not the case. he wasn't good enough. he's gone.

and again.... I don't care what the circumstances were. when people say McCarron is gonna open up the pass game they literally have no evidence to back that up. its wishful thinking. the guy managed games on a loaded roster.

if people wanna argue they think he's improved since 15 and that's why he'll be an upgrade and open the offense, that's fine...... but the bottom line is he's done nothing to prove it as of yet. can that even be argued? do you look back at 160, 180, 200, and 212 in his four starts and think "oh man, that's an upgrade. that's an upgrade on the passing attack"??? I get it. you're the whole "anyone but taylor" type of guy. but McCarron has shown nothing, outside of one 4th quarter comeback, to show he'll open anything up. if taylors numbers weren't enough for you then how on earths do mccarrons make you think he'll be an upgrade.

this isn't me writing off McCarron. I think he may have improved in the last couple of years and I think he might surprise people. but I wont pretend he's an automatic upgrade when the only sample size we have from him is very similar to what we just had.

His numbers - matter as much as Tyrods numbers.

2-1 as a starter in the regular season, 0-1 in the playoffs.  He led the Bengals to a lead late in the 4th QTR only to have 2 morons on defense get consecutive 15 yard penalties that put the Steelers in FG range and the Bungles lost by 2 points.

6 TD's and 2 INTs.    AJ came into a game where he played after Dalton left the game with an injury and he scored 2 TD's and 2 INT's .

closing out the 2015 regular season he scored 4 more TD's and 0 INT's   - indicating he "protected the ball"

In the playoffs (again) against the Steelers he had 1 TD and 1 INT.  He had the lead with under 2 minutes

    1st and 10 at PIT 26

(1:36 - 4th) J.Hill right guard to PIT 20 for 6 yards (R.Shazier; J.Jones). FUMBLES (R.Shazier), RECOVERED by PIT-R.Cockrell at PIT 12. R.Cockrell to PIT 9 for -3 yards (C.Boling; A.Green). The Replay Official reviewed the fumble ruling, and the play was Upheld. The ruling on the field stands.

    ...

    ...

    ...

    1st and 10 at CIN 47

(0:22 - 4th) (Shotgun) B.Roethlisberger pass incomplete deep right to A.Brown. PIT-A.Brown was injured during the play. PENALTY on CIN-V.Burfict, Unnecessary Roughness, 15 yards, enforced at CIN 47 - No Play. PENALTY on CIN-A.Jones, Unsportsmanlike Conduct, 15 yards, enforced between downs.

    1st and 10 at CIN 32

    (0:18 - 4th) PENALTY on CIN-A.Jones, Unsportsmanlike Conduct, 15 yards, enforced at CIN 32 - No Play.

    1st and 10 at CIN 17

    (0:14 - 4th) Chris Boswell 35 Yd Field Goal

you are exactly right. they matter as much as taylors.....so you're telling me that games of 160, 180, 200, and 212 indicate he's gonna open up the pass game? people rushed to run the qb out of town that posted subpar numbers like that but this guy has similar numbers and is gonna be a sure upgrade that's gonna open things up? commmeeeee onnnnnnn man.

    that's just silly talk.

and you don't have to give the play by play. I watched the game. he has a nice fourth quarter comeback on his resume. its most definitely a positive....  but they scored 16 pts..... yup. that seems like he really holds the pass game wide open when he plays. again, he might be an upgrade. he might win some games. I really hope he does. but lets not pretend that anything he's done in the past was anything other than manage games on a team that freaking LOADED.

  16. at what point does a player need to produce actual numbers? the top pass rushers are consistently on top of the sack lists year in and year out. the nfl records stats for a reason. its becuz they usually paint a solid picture of how somebody is performing....

so let me know when the numbers will actually matter and I can justly criticize hughes for his lack thereof

    2015 season[edit]

McCarron was named the backup quarterback to begin the season after beating out Keith Wenning and Terrelle Pryor during training camp. He played in his first preseason game on August 14, 2015, completing 11 of 15 passes for 97 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.[57] He started in the final preseason game at Indianapolis and completed 15 of 28 passes for 219 yards.[58]

In Week 9, he appeared in his first career game against the Cleveland Browns.[59] On November 29, 2015, he completed his first career pass attempt for a three-yard completion against the St. Louis Rams.[60] The following week, McCarron completed 2 out of 3 passes for 19 yards against the Cleveland Browns.[61]

On December 13, 2015, starting quarterback Andy Dalton fractured the thumb on his throwing hand while trying to make a tackle in the first quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Although the Steelers won 33–20, McCarron came in and completed 22 of 32 passes for 280 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions.[62] The following week, McCarron became the first Alabama quarterback to win an NFL game since Jeff Rutledge of the New York Giantsin 1987, when the Bengals beat the San Francisco 49ers 24–14. In his first career start he completed 15 of 29 passes and one touchdown.[63] On December 28, 2015, McCarron completed 22 of 35 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown in a 17-20 loss to the Denver Broncos.[64] On January 9, in the AFC Wild Card round, McCarron completed 23 of 41 passes for 212 yards, with one touchdown and one interception, but the Bengals lost to the Steelers, 18–16, ending their season.[65]

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJ_McCarron

is this supposed to prove you point? so in 2 of the 5 games he saw significant time in he tossed for over 200 yds(280, 212)..... along with 2 int to go with that 280.

he hopefully has improved over the last couple of years and I sincerely hope we found a gem with him but the dude has done nothing to prove he's gonna push the ball down the field or be an upgrade. its funny to me you bring up yardage in the argument as to why McCarron will be an upgrade when the guy merely managed games and most definitely wasn't slinging the ball around the yard.

    30 minutes ago, ShadyBillsFan said:

McDermott and Beane signed AJ Mccarron.  I'm good with their choice

i'm fine with it too. but lets not pretend his numbers indicate in the least that he's gonna significantly open up the pass game.

he very well could open it up. and I hope he does. but prior performance isn't what people should use in their argument.

TT averaged 187 yrds/game in 2017. Seems like AJ is a big upgrade and he should improve.

Not sure why so many don't want to give the guy a chance.

McCarron averaged 184 a game when he saw extended time in 2015 with an elite squad of wr's..... i'm totally for giving the dude a chance but this whole narrative that he's a big upgrade, is gonna push the ball down the field and open up the offense is literally 100% unfounded and there is no proof backing up anyone that claims it.

where are people coming up with this stuff?
