I just really hate Steeler fans.

live on the outskirts of "stiller" country just south of erie pa..... they are insufferable. acting as though not only the franchise but they as fans are gracing the NFL and the masses with their presence. awful group to deal with.

here in the tri-state area us browns and bills fans all get along and have one common interest. annoyance with steeler fans.

back on topic. I picked the steelers.

can the media stop hyping the ravens yet? one playoff appearance in the last 5 years, I think, and every year they are a team to watch out for apparently.

Sounds like a good situation, you just need to step up your fantasy game.

What can I say. She must have been taking good notes watching me the previous 6 years. But I’m being bit dramatic. All too often couples can’t find fun common interests. And grow apart completely. Ours are fitness(we own and operate our own gym) and bills football. I can think of a lot worse problems to have in a marriage than my wife wanting to enjoy football games with me. Haha.

Back on topic.... the OP heard schrager completely different than what I did. He had nothing good to say about the wt’s at all. And honestly.... neither do I yet

Do guys really want women that know sports though? I think that we think we do until we actually get that. I dated a girl for almost a year who was a big sports fan loved football (soccer to you), rugby, tennis, horse racing..... but it seriously eats into your man time. You go to the pub to watch a game with your buddies and she is like "oh I'll come too", you book a race day and she wants to come along.... your Saturday afternoon in front of the football scores suddenly becomes "couple time".

Yea. I don't want that. A woman who doesn't hate sport so much that she tries to stop me watching it but doesn't love it so much that she always wants to be with me when I'm watching it.  That is the ideal balance.

    This 100% accurate.

My wife cared nothing for football when we met and eventually into year 3 of our marriage she was invested enough to actually suggest we get seasons..... cool right??? RIGHT???? Had to be....

well its been 3 years since then and while I love that we share a huge common interest now, I’ve been to only ONE freaking game without her since then. And you don’t tell your wife “i’d rather you sit this one out.” Buddies headed to the sport bar for games? If I say i’d like to head out with them I’m met with “Well I like football too ya know! ITS FINE. I’ll watch here on my own”. SMH.

Then last year all my buddies thought it would be funny to invite her into our annual Fantasy Football league when a spot opened up..... and guess who she freaking beat week 1?

There were a couple other times he threw into coverage when down and distance said check down and take 5-10 yards.

I would argue that arm talent slightly dictates what should happen in those situations.

His gift in that area is one of the primary reasons he was drafted so high. You wanna scrap that right off the get?

In 3 years if he pans out and he’s making those “WOW” moments I can see you in the stands sitting there saying “ya but it was a risk and he shoulda taken the easy 5 instead of threading the needle on a 30 yd rope for 6”.... that sounds like fun.

Im cool with it. It could be what separates him and the bills from the rest of the AFC.... or it could put him out of the league. But I think soon enough he’ll realize what he can and can’t do and adjust accordingly. Seems like a smart dude.

    I'm especially encouraged by this:

Allen threw a 26 yard strike that no other QB on the team could hope to make. Then apparently correctly threw the ball away on 2 consecutive plays. Then hit a WR in stride on a slant that could have been a 3rd down conversion if it wasn't dopped. This is just day 6 of his first ever training camp. It's hard to not be excited with where he's at this early in the process. Sounds to me like he's getting better every practice and always making at least a couple throws per practice that Peterman and McCarron don't have the natural ability to do.

also very excited about this. I feel the exact same way about this sequence of plays. the tight throw. the awareness to clock it away on 2 straight and then drill a wr in stride on a slant.... very cool to hear. dunno how people cant feel optimistic about allen.

I get that it was with the 3's. so context is necessary. but I still like his trajectory.

Haha, given my history, I just wanted to call someone a homer for once! ?

i dont know.  This sucks.  I guess this is how people felt when the Bills picked guys like Maybin, Losman, and EJ.  I defended those picks not necessarily because I believed in them but I wanted the Bills to be right.  I don’t want to be right about Allen. I want him to succeed but I don’t know how to talk myself into it.  It’s a crappy feeling.

i wasn't a huge fan of the allen pick. I also havnt been all doom and gloom about it though because if anyone has watched the nfl they know that acting like they know how a qb is gonna pan out is a losing venture. with all that being said, so far this offseason, even though I wasn't a fan of the pick the bolded hasn't been very hard for me. he's been fairly impressive. I dunno how people cant see the arrow pointing up.

    Routine?

Ive hardly posted this past moth.

What am am I supposed to compare it to?

The Jim Kelly years? The EJ years? Drew Bledsoe?

But hey thanks for the snarky reply.

I understand you have hardly posted but there has been one theme with you since the old qb got traded. That hasn’t changed the routine out of nowhere shots at the former qb. You consistently bring him up out of left field when it’s totally not needed in the convo and take some shot at him. I’ve seen 2 different people call you on it in the last 2 or 3 weeks. And now I’m the 3rd. Must be we are all imagining things.

    -Random shots at former qb

    - making sure to remind everyone not too get excited about allen.

-and some odd crusade for peterman.

Thats your posts on a nut shell. It’s just sticks out becuz it’s so routine. The train is never late.

Even if he is helping shut down the run he’s playing 1 down. If they get a stop on 1st and 10 at the LOS the guys strictly playing the run are off the field. While he is certainly helping the team it is in a limited capacity. He’s playing 1/3 of the snaps at that point. You need to be able to do more than one thing in sports in 2018. That holds especially true for a guy that signed the contract that he did. I have hope that he can be more than a space eater. You can find a 1 down space eater for WAY less than Star so he needs to be more.

We agree on thinking he has the potential to be more than that. We just disagree on how valuable a big piece of meat clogging up the drain can be. No big deal though.

No one is going to complain. Someone just asked “why is it considered a negative if someone is just a space eater?” In today’s pass happy NFL it is a negative because they aren’t on the field enough. I used the Brandon Spikes comparison for that because I think it’s valid. You HAVE to be a factor on passing downs.

Also, I’m not sure that Star can’t be. I don’t think that he is just some big slug in the middle. I think he can be useful on passing downs.

If the space eater is part of shutting down the run for 3 quarters and helping with a 14 lead by doing his job then I see very little negative about it.

I also dont know that he can’t be more. I just totally disagree that the role of a “plugger” still isn’t an important one. It would have been invaluable at times last year for the bills. I personally think if he comes in and sures up the run game and leaves space for Edmunds to hunt he’ll be worth every penny.

I think he just wants to say the PC thing.  He wants to start, no one wants to sit.

I dunno…. I feel like jim sorgi was legitimately ok with cashing a check and never having to play in indy all those years behind manning. haha.

he was honestly a professional clipboard holder...…. and I think he was cool with that. and that's okay!

  11. this scorp character may have overtaken xrushx for me when it comes to being the most dramatic poster on the board in recent memory.

its especially annoying that he likes to lump the majority of us in with how he feels about the qb.

I love how he says about 5% of the analysts out there like allen. are you freaking kidding me? a qb doesn't enter talks of being drafted in the top 5-10 on a consistent basis if he's only talked about in a positive light by about 5% of these people. dude..... you gotta dial it back. just so over the top, man.
