  1. I think defenses having to read and react loosened things up a bit those first 2 years.... can that really be argued against?
  2. you are significantly downplaying the value of most likely not having 22 to's in just over a half a season. I've read plenty of your stuff around here. you seem smarter than that. i'm over it at this point. I rarely even bother to come into these threads about the old qb. I really like allen….. but if i'm staying on topic I think its fairly obvious just based on ball protection alone and how that would help the defense, the bills would AT LEAST be in the tail end of the race with the former qb, and a light schedule coming up. I woulda been fine with allen sitting behind that for a year or earning the spot as well.
  3. bro, you'd be better off finding a brick wall to beat your head on than talking about the old qb with that character. I've seen a lot of good points brought up by either "side" in this post as I logged on this morning...…. and then theirs teddy just over there sailing heaters over the backstop into the crowd...
  4. I know somebody who can probably name 10...…..
  5. I don't think the actual thread was nearly as annoying as when I clicked into it and somebody was all butt hurt then insisted on just posting a page worth of links to other threads.
  6. huh? taking all scores given up by just the defenses the bills are only allowing one more point per game. did you not look at the chart that was posted on the prior page? are you choosing not to just for the sake of being difficult? listen, I don't think the bills are the tops defense overall in the NFL. but the numbers, given some context, suggest they have an argument for top 5 and at the very least are much better the pretenders you have been claiming they are for weeks now.
  7. right and they are only allowing 1 defensive point less per game than the bills. I don't think anyone would debate that the jags have a very good defense. they are suffering from an inept turnover prone offense, just as the bills defense is. the jags were universally regarded as a top 3 defense coming into this year. probably still should be... and that team is a perfect example of how a bad offense can skew a great defenses stats. you kinda proved my point for me actually. .
  8. a job made much easier when your teams have only 7, 10, 11, 11, and 11 giveaways as opposed to 22 in just over half a season. I have absolutely no clue how you gloss over that so easily. its absurd. going into the 4th quarter the bills d had given up 17 points. I don't know how much more you can ask for in those circumstances. it would take a generational type defense to overcome the obstacles put in play by the bills offense. people apparently forget it was HISTORICALLY bad before the jets game.
  9. 22 giveaways in 10 games. Good for 2nd worst in the league. We’ll see how that changes after the bye. If at all. Might get a little better I suppose
  10. all other than the jags have offenses in the top half of the league in least giveaways...titans have 12 less giveaways than the bills. bears, ravens and Texans have 11 less. skins have 15 less! jags are the only team even close at 3 less this is only in a half a season. those are HUGE advantages to said defenses. but don't let silly facts like that get in the way or your narrative.
  11. i'm gonna go right ahead and quote this post, then bold the last line so the "characters" that cant seem to grasp that our offense has given up more td's than any other team can maybe start to see how silly they are being.... you team that number up with the fact that they are 1st in yards allowed per game, will still be top 5 in sacks after their bye week, will still most likely be top 10 in TO's after their bye week and 13th in 3rd down% and you EASILY have a top ten defense. add to the fact that they are doing this while dealing with an offense that is 2nd in the nfl in giveaways and it can easily be argued that they are a top 5 unit right now. when that's double the amount of any other team, but one, in just over a half a season.... then yes, its a large amount. but by all means. ignore it. do your thing.
  12. right. same. verdicts out on all of them. but I would say they havnt been any better with arguably more support around them. ESPECIALLY rosen.
  13. I think it could be argued that darnold was well on his way to making that list.... or there already. its at least up for debate
  14. it was the first drive as the bills were driving. Mathieu freaking clobbered him with the ball a good 5 yds away. it was about as blatant as it can get. agree 100%. I don't buy the "he hasn't earned it yet" bullcrap. its not the NBA. it doesn't work like that. these aren't ticky tack calls he's earned or not earned. they are DB's blatantly running through jones.
  15. lets not forget the 10 points in the Texans game that can be directly attributed to special teams giving the Texans the ball inside the bills 40. and then another 7 in that game given up by.... I wont speak his name. any game the offense has even been able to stay turnover free, not even sustain drives.... just turnover free. the defense has been stupid good.
  16. I had heard a rumor on one of the sports networks(ESPN or NFL) that there were inner whispers happening hinting that even if he wasn't injured it may have been time to give him a breather. but I don't agree with the OP. start the rookie. reps reps reps
  17. a part of good business is placing yourself in an atmosphere where you can flourish. I know plenty of people that have taken pay cuts due to better situations elsewhere. good luck finding a better one than the one he was in already. also good business by any team would be to look at the fact that a 3rd rounder is putting up better production than bell was at a fraction of the cost. how could other teams see that and not take it into account?
  18. maybe. I cant remember that much detail. I just think it says quite a bit about what he values in his career. you're set up in a legendary franchise that's WINNING with a loaded offense and an offer almost double what any other runner is making..... but you just want more money. like I said. have fun taking that running style behind an offensive line of a team that could afford you. and again.... if you are a team that was interested in him how aren't you factoring in what conner is doing now at a fraction of the cost
  19. ya. after you decide you aren't taking the contract, it could be argued he made the right move to sit..... I guess my issue is not taking the contract to begin with. have fun with your couple extra million on a team that can afford you that doesn't even have half the talent the steelers do..... I think it was a really foolish move. if you are a team looking at him you have to look at what conner has done and wonder I live here in erie,pa on the outskirts "stiller" country and I cant remember the details but I think I remember hearing it was around 13 or 14 maybe? that's almost double what the next highest runner was making at the time. and don't give me the wr/rb stuff.... bell acts like he's the first dual threat the league has ever seen. they've been around for years.
  20. right. I guess i'm basically saying the decision to not take the initial deal was the foolish part..... have fun trying that "patient" stutter step stuff behind a colts/Texans/fins/lions line. let me know how that works for you bell.
  21. one could argue staying put behind a top 3 line with elite wr options outside and a HOF qb while STILL getting a payday and having the potential to go down as a legend in a city of legends might have been best long term. instead he turned down a huge deal. left his teammates out to dry and a 3rd rounder came in to outproduce him behind said line..... solid move, bell. see above for a good response to that
  22. mark me down for both
  23. wishful thinking but it has the feel of the bears team last year that was universally known to be devoid of talent on offense and was a top 5 unit on defense.....came into the offseason with plenty of money. they went out and bought the farm for their 2nd year qb. robinson, burton, Gabriel..... I don't think its coincidence that their defense took one more step to arguably the top in the league with some help from an improved offense(and mack obviously). only big difference is they also went out and got nagy to help mitch out. I dunno. as an optimist it has that feel to me.
  24. Or the problem could be some fans taking the thread so seriously....
  25. right. i'm not in any of those camps. never was.....But I think its fairly obvious they butchered their qb situation and every time after week 1 that Peterman saw the field I felt was inexcusable and huge mark against those guys.
