If Carson Wentz can lead the Chiefs to a victory over a playoff team in Houston or Pittsburgh, I don't want to hear about how great and powerful Mahomes is anymore. Last game he missed time in a big moment, their backup came in and won a playoff game.

50/50 shot that Broncos game means nothing or everything for Denver. If I had to guess, Denver drops their next two games and need that game to get in.

Was it his left or right ankle he played through last time? Interesting breakdown here:

Bills Pats Flexed to 4:30 Kickoff [December 22nd NOT Jan 5th ]
SCBills replied to Diggstheprocess's topic in The Stadium Wall
Jags/Raiders is such a gross game and 49ers/Dolphins would have juice if the Fins won yesterday, but I can easily see why they'd flex Bills/Pats to put Josh Allen in that window. -
12/15/24 Week 15 Bills @ Lions Game Post Game Thread
SCBills replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Get this Defense to the Playoffs healthy and let's go. McDermott and our Defensive postseason letdowns have plagued this team for years, but with Josh Allen and our Offense, just get there healthy and put it on McDermott/Babich to make sure this Defense comes out ready to go. No excuses this year. Every year they've been able to point to major injuries to key guys and/or the volume of injuries. It's time to see them step up and perform with a healthy unit. -
Mack Hollins and Ty Johnson are 100% re-sign guys Hollins is such a good WR4 in this Offense. Elite blocker and makes plays down the field when called upon. Add in his Special Teams ability and locker room presence and Beane struck gold with this signing.

I’d be surprised if he plays on a short week, and if he actually misses Saturday, I’d say odds are high he misses Christmas Day against the Steelers. If that was Allen, and we were in the Chiefs position, I’d be fine taking my chances to make sure he’s healthy as can be for the playoffs even if it risks the 1 seed. Especially given their OL struggles blocking and the Texans and Steelers have great pass rushes. (Watt got hurt but it’s a low ankle & could be back for KC). But we don’t believe it until we see it because he had this same injury, played through it and was dramatic af about it.
-
Hopefully he’s ok asap because he needs the reps. Im not expecting him to get to elite this year, or probably ever, but we really want him to be average/above average & he needs reps to get there. However we need to do it, put Bernard and Williams in bubble wrap heading into the playoffs. Today started feeling way too much like last years playoffs.
-
He’s played on a high ankle before, right? Regardless.. makes it interesting with Houston immediately coming up and Pittsburgh 5 days later. And if we somehow steal the 1 seed, that’s going to be a tired team with a beat up Mahomes Wild Card Weekend. Then again, it could be another one of his phantom injuries that he plays through in dramatic fashion or Wentz does just enough.

It is a lot of Josh Allen, but in fairness, he has one of the best OL’s in football with a ton of legitimate weapons. No Jefferson or Chase, but every skill position group is above average and deep. Now on Defense, they need to be better. Today was different than the Rams game, and a bit more encouraging as Ed Oliver showed he is capable of taking over a game against an elite OL up against an elite C.

12/15/24 Week 15 Bills @ Lions Game day Thread
SCBills replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
CBS & other Gameday shows have just been killing the Bills Defense as letting down Josh Allen. Only they can change this narrative. -

Refs preparing for the playoffs. KC can have as a bad of a tackle situation as possible.. doesn’t matter when refs don’t call holding in the postseason. -

What a great Bills/Lions segment on Countdown! -
Kyle Long isn’t someone to jump on “conspiracy theories”, yet…

Defense is built to stop average and below offenses.

IF this comes to fruition, that Rams loss could be the best thing that ever happened to this team as that loss has typically occurred when there isn’t a next week. -

Torn between watching the Chiefs play a close game with the Browns, only for Jameis to spike the ball in game winning FG range with a timeout remaining, not realizing it was 4th down OR go to the gym before our game. Tough choice. -
Id call around and try to make a trade if im Beane. The guy is elite at drafting good players late in the Draft, but we cannot seem to get the DL right. It’s his one blind spot. If they don’t get it together this season, drastic changes need to be made there. You have to have a difference maker.. And fwiw, the Chiefs DL is the Bills DL, except they have Chris Jones and we have Ed Oliver. That’s it, that’s the difference. Karlaftis is Rousseau and everyone else is some version of what we have. Thats how important having a difference maker is on the DL.

I’m hopeful on Kincaid. The talent is there. The fit, so far, is clunky. As for Elam.. I truly hope he starts today, plays well and maybe even pushes to start moving forward over a healthy Rasul. But even if he does that (which probably won’t happen), we’re now 3 years into his rookie contract. Best case scenario is we have to decide who to pay between Elam and Benford and I think we know who that will be, unless he prices himself out and we go the Chiefs route of not paying CB’s top dollar.

Everything woke turns to ***t: NBA and WNBA Edition
SCBills replied to Big Blitz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Honestly feel bad for Caitlin Clark. The league hates her. Theres nothing she can do to change that. She tried to extend an olive branch in the TIME interview, only to push away many of her fans and then somehow make players/owners attack her even more? The league will never have mainstream success, even if the product improves, because they are basically the black female/leftist lesbian version of the UFC. UFC gets away with being overtly political because the product is good, they built up a ton of following before going down this path and its fanbase is 90% men, and men typically lean right. WNBA cannot succeed with only lesbians and activist women watching. And they have zero desire it seems, to extend beyond that. Anytime they attempt to, as this past week shows, the league pushes back and cements itself as an activist leftist sports league…. With a bad product to offer in exchange. The NBA keeps it afloat, but if the NBA is even in a death spiral, zero chance the WNBA can succeed… even when they’ve been handed their Michael Jordan on a silver platter. -
Until proven otherwise, it’s the Defensive Line .. and it’s not particularly close. McDermott doesn’t become a liability if our Defensive Line is getting after the QB. I don’t expect them to be a monster run stuffing unit, because they’re specifically not built to be that .. but they are built to rush the passer with the amount of resources and bodies we put towards that in a game. If they get it together, McDermott doesn’t have a chance to hurt us with a panicked in-game decision.

SCBills replied to TD716's topic in The Stadium Wall
No, it doesn’t warrant an elite player contract. The comparison to Edmunds is because we see the otherworldly potential but, at some point, it has to click. He has to show out this postseason. Same for Oliver or I’d float his name for a trade this offseason. Enough is enough and the DL cannot be the reason we don’t get to a Super Bowl. If it is, blow it up. -

Something flips for the Chiefs in the playoffs lately. A by “something” I mean the refs stop calling offensive line holding. The OP is 100% correct. This Defense is designed to slow down/stop 70-80% of the league, even without any elite players. And that’s not nothing.. look at the Bengals this year. But when we face a good offense, led by a QB who’s locked in, it’s the same song and dance. Case and point.. we accepted a penalty to get the Rams to 3rd and 17, and our defensive philosophy was not to stop them — instead, it was to play safe, allow underneath, rally and tackle, then see if the Rams make a mistake. They didn’t, because their offense is good and Stafford was locked in. 4th and 5, and we give it up. Forcing long drives and hoping Mahomes/Chiefs make a mistake in the playoffs is not a strategy. But, too often, that’s how we play it.. especially when refs are blind to offensive holding in the postseason.
