No GM would take Burrow over Allen, not even Cinci’s. He’s elite, but he’s a notch below Allen & Mahomes. He has the best weapons in the game and was riding in the backseat during their Super Bowl run last year. RB.. Do they? Joe Mixon 4.0 YPC Samaji Perine 4.2 YPC Devin Singletary 4.6 YPC James Cook 5.1 YPC Logan Wilson & Germaine Pratt over Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds?….

Of course, I agree, we can still win the Super Bowl in a worst case scenario of the 3 seed … but there is no denying the massive difference between the following potential scenarios: Bye. Home against Jax/Bal/LAC etc. Home for AFC CG. vs Home against LAC/Bal etc. At Bengals. At Chiefs.
-
Me, personally .. Poyer - Gone Singletary - Gone Saffold - Gone Phillips - Gone *Poyer likely gets paid, but the other three could be welcomed back on VERY team friendly deals. Edmunds - Back (gets paid) Shaq - Back (team friendly) Marlowe - Back (vet deal) Klein - Back (vet deal) Oliver - Trade for a 2nd RD1 - WR RD2 - OL RD2 - OL RD3 - S/DT RD4 - DT/S RD5 - RB I doubt we trade Ed Oliver, he’s very good, but he’s not elite .. and I don’t see the point of paying big money to a very good DT long term.

I think a lot of people noticed the head hit, but they cut away from it really fast as the play was going on down the field. It’s also a play that happens all the time. People just noticed it because it’s Tua. I hate it for him, but if you can get concussed that easily .. you either need someone to coach you on how to protect yourself, or maybe you’re just unable to given physical stature. I know guys like Brees had long careers, but Tua and (for other reasons) Kyler seem injured all the time.

Hasn't Morse said one more won’t change my mind, nor will another after that or the next after that? Hes consulted with neurologists and, for whatever reason, concussions don’t worry him long term. Also, I’ve heard somewhere that there’s a thought it isn’t severe concussions that mess people up, it’s the repeated minor head injuries. Im not saying Morse is right or wrong, just that we all seem to think he should hang ‘em up after the season, but everything he’s ever said indicates he’s unbothered by concussions.
-
My (uneducated) guess at the positional breakdown given we rarely play the Bengals. OL - Bills (If Morse plays) TE - Tie WR - Bengals RB - Tie QB - Tie DL - Bills LB - Bills CB - Tie S - Bengals ST - Tie Next Gen Stats was scrolling a stat during MNF about how Burrow is killing teams with his WR’s getting 3 feet + of separation. Game may come down to Bills DL vs Bengals OL and Tre White’s Progress / CB2 not being liabilities out there.

Are they though?.. I feel this is a narrative that’s taken on a life of its own. “The red hot Bengals” They were a Stevenson fumble on 1st and goal away from potentially losing to the Patriots … a division team we toyed with a few weeks ago. They went down big to a bad team in the Bucs, until the Bucs literally kept giving them the ball over and over on their own side of the field. They’ve won 7 in a row, and lately it’s been ugly. We’ve won 6 in a row, and much of it has been us just going through the motions and/or also playing one good half. injuries play a big part this time of year .. We’ll have to see if Morse can go, but the Bengals are without Hubbard on DL and they just lost Collins from the OL.

Put Ehlinger in. This is just stupid now.

That check down, Herbert throws every time if the play breaks down and no one is open after a second or two. Mahomes. Maybe 1 out of 4 times. Allen. McDermott would need to have one of Josh’s family members held hostage in a secret location under the guise Allen must throw the check down to free them.
-
He is the king of watching him play, thinking he looks good… (looks at scoreboard) … 10 points at halftime.
-
Aikman has a point about the QB not leading guys into hits. That’s two of them in the first half alone where he led his guy into getting blown up.
-
I’m normally on the “league is soft” side of things but Derwin James can gtfo with that .. no attempt to even tackle, just bad intentions.
-
That’s the most violent hit I’ve ever seen live… Right up there with Andre Smith on Justin Fields.
-
I would lose my mind if our cornerback defended a 3rd and long like that … yikes
-
This doesn’t seem like a real football game..
-
This booth ref is on some nonsense tonight. “The ref made a good spot” … as we watch him make a terrible spot. “Well, the ball doesn’t move” … as we watch the ball hit the ground.

Nick Foles is not a serious person right now

Bills open as 1.5 point favorites against Bengals(O/U 49)

Burrow can obviously beat Mahomes and he can beat Allen. He’s likely QB3 in the NFL… but the gap between Allen/Mahomes and Burrow is big. My opinion on that doesn’t change one bit if Burrow lights us up. He has ELITE playmakers everywhere. WR1 elite, WR2 elite, WR3 elite for their respective roles. Not even Miami or Philly goes 3 deep like they do with Chase, Higgins and Boyd. Still, go back and watch last years playoffs. Bills lost to chiefs despite Allen being quite literally unstoppable. Bengals rode to the Super Bowl with their defense and their FG kicker driving the bus .. Burrow was a passenger along for the ride. He’s elite, yes. He can’t take over a game like Allen or Mahomes. He doesn’t have the mobility to do so. He’s not a statue, but if plays break down, he doesn’t have the ballerina skills of Mahomes or brute force and speed of Allen. He can also be beat. Watching Allen and Mahomes, one gets the sense at times that only they can beat themselves. Burrow can be slowed down. All 3 are elite passers. The mobility is what separates Allen & Mahomes, along with their ability to accurately hit any spot on the field while moving. -

I’m really not sure what to make of the Bengals. No idea what their defense is like .. especially with their two DE’s hurt. Is Hubbard playing against us? Hendrickson is playing through a broken wrist. Their offense is loaded with skill position talent, but Burrow still gets hit a lot and they just lost their starting RT for the year. Tampa was blowing their doors off and then imploded. Somehow the Pats came in and pulled an inverse of the Bengals/Bucs game as the Bengals almost blew a big halftime lead… probably should’ve blown that lead if Stevenson doesn’t fumble. Part of me thinks people give the Bengals too much hype and the Bills too little. Guess we’ll find out a week from today. -
I’d think all that matters for the NFL is meaningful games in Week 17 and Week 18… and they have a ton of them. It’s why, as Peter King pointed out, they schedule so many weak games for meh teams early in the year. It’s why perennially good teams play 1st place schedules and perennially bad teams play 4th place schedules. Keep as many markets in play for as long as possible.

James Cook -- 5.8 ypc(!) and his longest is only 33 yards.

This. He was sold as a WR playing RB that is simply a pass catcher who can run to the outside. The guy is running off guard plenty and always seems to fall forward. He definitely can use an off-season of S&C, but he’s a lot better at playing actual RB than I thought he’d be as a rookie. Conversely, we’ve barely seen any of the pass catching role that was such a big piece of his college career. He has a ton of potential in this offense. -
Quick check of Fins fans, and they are furious over this trade now. They went all in on Tua and he’s turned into a pumpkin. The Chubb trade further decimated any ability they have to get a QB in the draft, and they can go after a FA QB, but they’re not exactly flush with cap space.
-
It almost makes sense, if your Dorsey, to call plays with one read .. check down to the RB in the flat … until you back teams out of this type of defense. It’s clear we do have that play call, because there’s times Josh drops back and immediately checks down. They typically pick up 8-15 yards every time. Will be interesting to see how Cinci defends Josh. I’ve always thought he would torch the style they deploy against Mahomes, because unlike Mahomes, Allen with simply run through the light box and away from the spy on some designed stuff. Anyone see how Hendrickson played yesterday? Reader is really good at DT, Hubbard is decent but banged up, and Hendrickson is an above average pass rusher but playing through a broken wrist right now.

I loved today’s game found a new way to win

No idea what happened on that first Bears drive, but the defense deserves props. Fields & that Rushing offense have been gashing teams, and they were throttled by us all game. On offense, Allen was all over the place, but as said above .. not worried about him - he’ll turn it up in the bigger moments - Also, watching some other games, passing offenses in the cold were disastrous all over the country.. errant passes, turnovers, drops etc.. Bears defense isn’t much to write home about, but to run to the level we did against any NFL team is impressive. That was absolute ground assault. -

Took a bit, but good to see them just put away a team.
