Mike Gesicki is a free agent. Would the Bills take a flyer on him?
SCBills replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I see Dalton Kincaid TE, Utah mocked to us in some RD1 Drafts. Id rather go that way than sign another big money TE, if we feel that’s a move we want to make. Not sure I understand the need for a second really good TE though… I’d rather invest high draft picks into OL & a WR. -
They followed up and said he dislocated in back in Week 5 and played the next week, but now there's more concern and it sounds like a potentially more serious injury than the first time. Their Center Ted Karras has a quote where he's talking like they are expecting to be down Jonah Williams and Alex Cappa, along with La'el Collins of course.
-
Echoing what others have said, sounds like their starting tackles will both be out. Collins, obviously, and Williams is reportedly going to be out with the dislocated kneecap. Cappa, not sure, but last I saw of him was at Bengals practice last week in a boot and on a scooter. Judging by Karras’ comment, he seems to be expecting them all to be out on Sunday.

This. Maybe Burrow and the Bengals attack differently and aren't so hyper-aggressive ALL the time, but Burrow would've gotten lit up in that game. Miami has top 3 DL talent in the league with Phillips, Chubb, Ingram and the interior guys. On top of that, they just blitzed nonstop. When they didn't send the house, it was simulated pressure. Ravens Defense is obviously way better in the LB/Secondary, but the Dolphins Defense is psychotic at times.. amplified by the fact they knew the defense had to go for broke.
-
Yea... not going to equate these two things. Burrow/Bengals would've had the same opps we had to utterly obliterate the Dolphins, but in the process Burrow would've left the game bloodied. Dolphins played that game one way, and it was focused on hitting the QB with a Defensive Line that is quantum leaps beyond what the Ravens have.

I think you're being far too simplistic as well. Why does Allen need to be "near perfect" but Burrow does not? Would you rather have the Bills OL or the Bengals OL? Would you rather have the Bills DL or the Bengals DL? I'm taking the healthy Bills OL over the beat up Bengals OL. The DL's are pretty close, but for all the hand-wringing post-Von's ACL, in games I've seen of Cincy, our DL gets more pressure with 4 than theirs does. We all know the Bengals have top 3 weapons in the league. And your physicality comment isn't lost on me. I'll be very interested to see if the Bills man up, because the Bengals came out early a few weeks ago with a vicious energy that we did not match early on. I think Tre White's play over the past two weeks has been very encouraging, and Kaiir Elam was drafted for games like this. Those two need to watch Ravens film, because they can certainly play like they did. One last thing... for all the Burrow simping some here do, he has played a handful of playoff games now and has not once turned in a Josh Allen/Patrick Mahomes performance. Once again, yesterday, his defense made the play to win the game. It's the same script we saw last year. Burrow has the better weapons... but his OL is leaky and he doesn't have the take-over ability Allen has. He could carve us up... heaven knows I am not sold on McD/Frazier's post-season defense... but I'm going to give them some credit and say we show up Sunday.

Hard to say I come away from the Dolphins game encourage by the passing weapons after all the drops/miscues, but... -Diggs is Diggs -Davis looks like "Playoff Gabe" is a thing -Allen & Beasley finally looked to be getting their rhythm back -Shakir, while the drop was really bad, is going to be very good Have to imagine those 4 are up moving forward and we'll see how things shake out with McKenzie and Brown, perhaps Crowder. ---- In regards to the OL. The Bengals are a better overall defense than the Dolphins, but the Dolphins know us very well and are built specifically to rush the passer. Talent-wise, Miami has a top tier DL. Bengals are built more like us... Solid to above average DL that typically don't collapse the pocket quickly with only 4, a top notch linebacker duo, stud slot corner and question mark secondary, led by a great Safety. I do think home field matters here, and our Defense (while similar) has a slightly better DL and a secondary with more potential IF, big if, Tre White and Kaiir Elam build off their play from yesterday.

Picks weren’t on him. Fumble was.. gotta eat that. Me personally, just check it down once in a while. Even if it’s just a designed check down to keep the chains moving and keep the opposing defense honest. You want to launch another laser after we get 7-8 yards on a 2nd and 5 when we need a small semblance of momentum/possession.. have at it.

Gabe Davis looked like the high end WR2 we all thought we were getting out there. Absolutely dominated his matchups all day.

I agree that we have similar, probably even better talent than the Ravens (I posted about it above), but until this defense shows they can do what the Ravens defense just did, to an elite offense, in the playoffs … people hype the Ravens Defense over ours for a reason. Bills Defense can get their flowers if they go out and lock the Bengals down on Sunday.
-
Bills have the personnel to play like the Ravens .. just hasn’t been their move. Ravens DL is solid, but not anything special. Similar to ours. They have a top tier LB duo. Similar to ours. Secondary-wise, no reason White, Elam, Johnson and Poyer can’t be physical, chippy and in your face like the Ravens DB’s. Talent is similar. It’s attitude and scheme that we need to replicate.
-
Will have to see how that goes throughout the week. We know Collins is out. Cappa was in a boot, on a scooter all week. Jonah Williams, they said “questionable” to return, but that looked worse than questionable.
-
I get what they’re doing to try and score with no time left, but you can’t make a mistake like that. No margin for error with the way they’re doing this. Going to need a miracle now.
-
That Ravens goal line play may be the worst play call I’ve ever seen … literally trying to think of something worse.
-
Bills are destined to have to beat the Bengals and Chiefs to get to the Super Bowl. There’s really no point in watching these games preceding that. Other teams constantly with the bizarre nonsense game after game with those two teams.
-
Ravens Offense is, by far, the worst in the playoffs … maybe one of the worst I’ve ever seen in the playoffs. They’re the Tebow/Broncos right now, but Huntley is a worse runner than Tebow.
-
How sad that you feel the need to post this on a Bills message board the second Burrow breaks free from his strugglebussing by the Ravens.
-
Roquan with the huge miss right there

All I see whenever Sal C has to attempt to explain to (insert host) why we wont just start Elam opposite Tre.
-
Absolutely. He has his faults… but he called a game today that should have resulted in an absolute massacre. We also don’t know what every route was on some of those shot plays. Allen just chose to go deep, but I can’t imagine we’re just running 4 verticals all the time.

Ravens have the most limited passing game I’ve ever seen in the playoffs.
