Game Thread: Los Angeles Rams at Detroit 8:15 PM ET NBC

Stafford is making some absurd throws out there. -
I didn’t say that. If you inferred that from my post, that’s not what I was alluding to. I gave the reasoning for why the NBA schedules regular season games on MLK Day.
-
The NBA puts games on MLK day as a tradition because a very large portion of their fanbase is black, percentage wise. It’s partly symbolic, and I’m not saying that’s a bad thing before you get yourself all worked up. It’s also the NBA’s regular season. They aren’t airing Game 1 of the NBA Finals during the day where half of America is working.

Yea.. I’d love for the Texans to take out Baltimore, but they give me the vibes of a team that caught fire, at home, against a beat up Browns squad that was due for regression. The caveat being the time off the Ravens have had. If Houston can get up early, I do wonder if Lamar could press given his lack of playoff success. … but I’m not betting on it. -

I think that’s fair though. We were under the assumption that we’d have to play the Steelers in a game where all of our advantages were taken away due to weather.. weather so extreme that it isn’t even football anymore. However, we were offered the opportunity to play today in ideal conditions. We lobbied to play tomorrow in wind/cold, but nothing that should truly affect us. The league gave us the ok to change the playoff schedule.. not just this week, but basically ensuring we must play KC, if we win, on Sunday (which they’d probably do anyway) but this now affects, potentially, two weeks of their scheduling. No excuses. -

So which is which? I think last year, excuses were somewhat valid. This year, what’s the excuse? Bad weather, in which the league provided a solution that we turned down in order to put ourselves at a rest disadvantage? Nah, not accepting that. Just win. -
Random talking head says something about the Bills

There’s also an in inherent risk of having a team in Miami, Jacksonville and New Orleans in September/October. -

Am I the only one who doesn’t want to hear a word about excuses? AFC CG, we weren’t ready for that yet 13 seconds was self inflicted Damar Hamlin, weather, injuries etc I have no appetite for weather or rest disadvantage.. figure it out. It seems we were given the option of playing today, indoors.. it seems we said “no thanks”. We are clearly aware of what that means by playing another day later. It’s always something it seems, and it’s exhausting as a fan.. and surely for the team.. but at some point you need to simply overcome it. And hopefully that point is this year. -
Khalil Shakir might be my offensive version of Taron Johnson

If Davis is going to miss multiple games this postseason and/or be hobbled (should we continue to advance), I’d love to see Sherfield outside with Harty rotating in for him and Diggs. See if we can get Harty deep 1-2 times per game, and if not, use him to open up underneath routes for Kincaid and Shakir. I too wanted Addison, but I am interested to see if perhaps we got the right guy all along when it comes to needing to win in January. Having a big body with a huge catch radius when throwing in the elements, who will only grow as a blocker as he develops, is something we desperately needed last year .. and now have this year. He also played at Utah, so he’s not facing the cold for the first time. -
The NBA is putting regular season games on MLK Day. They also have a somewhat different fanbase demo than the NFL. The NFL would be putting one of a handful of coveted playoff games on a Monday afternoon, by choice, for a holiday that most of their fanbase is working on. We’ll see what the ratings are .. at best, they would hope for a March Madness scenario where it’s such a big deal that people just accept call-outs and zero production on the first Thursday and Friday of the Tournament.

It would’ve been an interesting crowd. Steelers are a national fanbase and the Bills have a ton of fans within driving distance of Atlanta. We know Allen can throw in weather. We’ll see if Rudolph can. And an inside game would definitely allow them to target Dane Jackson if Douglas can’t go. And without Davis, the deep shots may have been limited, but Allen should have time without Watt out there. Anyway.. it’s not happening, and it seems we want it that way .. so just don’t complain about the lack of rest. Beat the Steelers and then beat the Chiefs at home. Nobody is going to care about any of this if an option was provided by the league for today. -

If reports are true, the Bills could’ve played today .. inside .. in Atlanta. I don’t want to hear about this. Clearly they aren’t worried about that. -
QB - Even RB - Even (Cook is the best RB of the group even though I’ve been down on him lately) WR’s - Bills TE’s - Chiefs (out of respect, but Bills TE’s are no joke) OL - Even (Torrence has been struggling / KC’s Tackles have been struggling) DL - Even Secondary - Even (with Douglas) ST’s - Even Coaching - Time for McDermott to show us why he took over defensive play-calling. And fwiw, I think Allen is the most talented QB in the league, and (if) he gets a Super Bowl, will be recognized as such. Both teams have top defenses, the difference to me is that the Bills have more explosiveness in Diggs, Kincaid, Shakir and Cook than the Chiefs do in Kelce, Rice, MVS and Pacheco. And that’s assuming Davis misses next week, should we get there.

It’s not that deep .. we’re better than them. Go out there and prove it. 1) Allen, limit the nonsense 2) McDermott, show us why you took over the defense

This game was awful, but Cole Beasley was tweeting all during it. This tugs at the heart strings a bit. -

Miami really does look noticeably slower in the cold. And Tua, no comment. He isn’t built for this. -

If we beat the Steelers, I don’t want to hear a word about rest disadvantages when we play the Chiefs if that Atlanta report is true. Just. Beat. Them. -

They missed the blatant holding, but they call that a lot as roughing.. zero reason to give refs a chance to throw a soft flag. -

Yup. KC came out to make a statement. Miami is playing like how you’d expect a team from 1970 to play in this. -

I’ll be interested to see if KC can defend Miami, because Miami’s defenders looked like they were completely unsure out there … no pass rush and nooone anywhere near any receivers.
