RD1 WR, double dip WR again in the first 4 Rounds. Then focus on the Defense with the remaining picks (DT, CB, S) I'd cut Poyer and Tre, and prioritize bringing back Jones and Floyd or AJE. Keep the DL a strength, and then with Milano, Bernard, Johnson, Douglas and Benford, we can allow for two new Safeties to learn throughout the season and reset the position with youth.

Why does this team always seem like it's running on fumes?
SCBills replied to T.E.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I think this is a somewhat valid statement, but it's too early to say that. The Bills caught fire two years ago and were probably the best team in the league when we got knocked out due to bad coaching and bad luck. Last year, we definitely ran out of gas... physically and mentally. We're lucky we didn't lose in the Wild Card Round to a backup QB. This year.. if we lose to Miami and don't make the playoffs or fall short in the playoffs with the offense looking clunky, it will once again seem like last year, where we just ran out of gas down the stretch... but we could also go the opposite way and make a run. Last 4 games WR's average 107 yards total per game

Would love if the Bills can find a way to keep Jones and one of Floyd/Epenesa.. then I'd honestly go back to back RD1/RD2 WR with how insanely good this Draft is at that position, and the fact we're likely heading into the new league year with only Diggs, Shakir and Shorter. -
Some hard choices for Beane on the D-Line
SCBills replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
We restructured him, so we can cut him post 6/1 and manage his cap hit, but more than likely he's a Bill next year and then we can reasonably move off him the following year. -
Bills-Dolphins Week 18 for the Division! SUNDAY NIGHT GAME

McDaniel seemed to rule Howard out. Haven’t heard anything on Waddle, but they’d have to basically make that ankle completely numb if he’s truly dealing with a high ankle sprain only a couple weeks removed. -

When did that flip for the Pats against anyone in our division with Tom Brady? -
The Bills D is ascending at the right time.

Bills Defense looks like what you need to win a Super Bowl in the modern era.. They may give up a couple big plays. Just like we saw against NE.. But they make up for it with pressure on the QB, negative plays and turnovers. When you play elite offenses, that’s how you beat them. That’s the difference between Bills Defenses of old against Mahomes or Burrow in the playoffs and this new version of the Bills Defense. Thing is.. this Defense comes with a price tag. Von Miller is eating up cap on the bench. Floyd & Poyer are on this defense and therefore DeAndre Hopkins is not on our Offense. With Daquan Jones back, and Rasul Douglas replacing Tre White, we’re truly only missing Milano. Look around the NFL… we’ll take it. I fully expect this Defense to be Super Bowl caliber and show it Sunday Night and into the Playoffs. If, and when, they do that. Props to McDermott. But this is when he needs to shine. -
It’s really frustrating that two years in a row, we have massive WR questions down the stretch. Our most reliable weapons are a 2nd year RB, rookie TE and a 2nd year slot WR. We have a WR1 who can’t get open and takes himself off the field every other play and a WR2 who’s the same boom/bust guy he’s been his entire career. It didn’t have to be this way, but hopefully our defense carries us if the offense can’t get it together because all the potential WR money for someone like Hopkins is on that side of the ball in Floyd & Poyer.

If I’m a fan of Baltimore, I’d want them to rest the key guys. If I’m Harbaugh, I know we haven’t had a ton of success in the playoffs in the Lamar era and my QB is gunning for a personal achievement in MVP. I don’t think it’s clear cut they rest guys, given they have a Wild Card Round Bye Week, but anyone who’s dinged up isn’t playing and I think it’s 30/70 Lamar plays… and if he plays, probably a half. The good news is the Ravens/AFC North is a different animal. I’m guessing they still care about imposing their will on a rival and ending their playoff hopes. I also don’t think they care about losing on purpose with the hope Buffalo loses and gets left out. Might not be smart, but I don’t think they are wired that way.

This Hall guy at QB looks like a Vikings fan dressed up to play for them.

Diggs usage is bizarre and when he’s out there is a whole lotta meh. Runs a route and then comes off the field for the rest of the series. Davis is what he is. A great blocking receiver who is a legitimate deep threat. Not a reliable go to option / chain mover. Shakir is solid. We have nothing else. Sherfield is contractually obligated to not catch passes. Harty is a non-factor. But hey.. we all know Allen likes throwing to shifty separating WR’s, so here’s some Tight Ends. The neglect at WR has been insane.. called out every single year.. and hopefully it doesn’t doom this team. Diggs needs to figure out how to become Diggs again.. because lately the dude is basically Emmanuel Sanders of a couple years ago. -
I don’t hate Kornacki, but I’m going to go ahead and assume his cult followers aren’t exactly avid football watchers. I say this because I know two of them. My cousin and his wife. Both in R&D for Pharma, both went to NC State. I figured I could talk to them about their football team. They countered with women’s basketball and how impressive the marching band has been. cool cool …

It’s wild watching the Chiefs and how the struggles they have seem so similar to what we deal with. The two teams with the two best QB’s in the league.

So are we just done expecting Von Miller to do anything?
SCBills replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was on the “Let Von play to get better train” but I think yesterday might be where I get off. That was pathetic. He’s basically just engaging and bull rushing .. and not even an effective bull rush at that. Im sure McDermott told him to contain rush, which is why he didn’t try to beat the OT to the edge a ton, but 75% of the time that just results in Von running off the screen and leaving a massive hole for a QB to escape through. Those can’t be our two options with him. Get AJE back out there when he’s ready and then rotate Von sparingly as the 5th DE behind Shaq. -
This is why he’ll continue to be QB2 in the league behind Mahomes.. until/if he stops the urge to do this every other game. I do think Mahomes has come down to earth a bit in the first year he’s had without top tier weapons around him, (last year Kelce was elite and they had the best OL) but the fact is .. he’s willing to play QB, as boring as it can be, on a consistent basis. With Allen, it’s just a constant struggle to force him to play QB regularly. He can do it an elite level, but it’s not fun .. and because it’s not fun or exciting, it’s an ongoing battle. Just get in the playoffs though, because when Allen is on, there’s no one better … no one.

I don't love the idea of needing any help Week 18. Hopefully it's all squared away by then (aside from us needing to take care of our own business). Who knows which playoff bound teams have what to play for in the final week of the regular season.

In looking at the cap situation next year, the fact we have some contracts coming off the books and/or moveable down the road and who we have under contract, I'd absolutely make Floyd and Jones priority re-signs .. perhaps with some void years that we eat and hope Beane keeps hitting on his drafts. We're rock solid on Offense with our OL, OL depth, QB1, RB1, WR1, Slot WR, TE1, TE2 etc.. We will definitely need 1 or 2 WR's early in the Draft to infuse that group with some young talent. On Defense, we're set at LB and I'd honestly say we're fine at CB, with Douglas, Benford and Elam. Cut Tre and we might be able to take a swing at Floyd... it might take cutting Poyer too though. If there is one place I absolutely trust McDermott, it's at coaching up the secondary. Draft some DL & WR early and then empty the clip on Day 3 secondary picks. That's my view on how we can keep the DL dominant and find the money for Floyd & Jones.
