New York Lt. Governor Brian Benjamin arrested
SoCal Deek replied to Beast's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It's not hard at all to change the rules. But you have to want to change them....and the people who would write a new rule are the very same people addicted to the superbowl tickets, extravagant foreign research trips, and three martini lunches. So unless you and me are going to send a Bill to the floor...good luck! -
Biden and the crises er challenge on the border
SoCal Deek replied to Unforgiven's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Not so fast. This topic is extremely complicated....and thus the problem. I'm guessing that the laws, as written, are full of what lay people call 'loop holes', so for example the current Executive Branch says "we are enforcing the law, we're just stipulating the time and date for these illegal immigrants to return for a court date'"...We of course know that almost none of them ever return for their date, and the federal government conveniently doesn't have the manpower to track them down. It's no different than people over-staying their visa (like the 9/11 terrorists). The root of the problem is that our government has failed us all miserably. They KNOW the intent of the law, but they're driving big trucks through those loopholes...on purpose. This is not an act of omission, the regime knows exactly what they are doing! -

Are you trying to say we don’t have laws that govern immigration? I’m sure we do. The problem is that the Executive Branch is choosing how they wish to enforce them. -
Not going to happen. His entire existence is built upon bomb throwing, name calling, and the Twitter sphere of hate and division. I’ve attempted numerous times to reach and get him to simply join the conversation. I’m convinced now that it’ll never happen. It’s all just scorched earth. I wish I could say that his approach had given me pause, or even advanced my longing for understanding on where he’s coming from. I’ve learned instead that there’s no desire there save for beating everyone to a pulp. Sad!

I’ve been asked speak about this subject at a few conferences over the years. The problem isn’t the lobbyists asking for favors. It’s not even the offer of meals, contributions, or sports tickets. The problem is the politicians accepting the offer! Just say NO! -
You’re very welcome….and don’t call me Shirley

My comment was of course sarcastic, but I’ve often wondered if everyone in the Congress has to take a half day seminar ever year on the constitution…and pass a test as part of Continuing Education credits. If they don’t….they should.

Shouldn't a President who has spent his entire 50 year career in and around Washington, be expected to know at least something about the Constitution?

Buffalo Bills roster - Ascending, descending, shocking, packing
SoCal Deek replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Where does Bobby Hart fit into those categories? -
It would be more productive to the discussion if you actually read this stuff, before just copying and pasting some Twitter hack's take on the actual document.

Is that Peppermint Patty's replacement? This should be an interesting year. -
Thanks...I wouldn't know Bobby Hart from the man in the moon, except that on this very Message Board smarter people than me spoke so badly about him that I made it a point to watch him in what may have been the last preseason game. He was literally terrible. The true definition of a turnstile. Now...I'm sure he's a very nice man, but it's truly hard for me to believe that there aren't more capable guys floating around America somewhere....maybe not?

We’ll show that dastardly Putin! We’ll start dipping into our petroleum savings account! That’ll fix it. Ugh!
-
Huh? I purposely focused on Hart when he played for the Bills last year. No matter how you describe it he was literally nothing short of terrible! I’m not sure what more anyone wants to see for this guy. And yes, I’d much rather give an unknown kid a shot.
-
Bruce Smith was a beast. Unbelievable athlete, and maybe the best defensive player all time. Sure he was young once, but if you watch that show you’ll see the inspirational man he’s grown into. I think people forget how young these players really are.
-
With so many rookies that’ll go undrafted it’s really hard for me to see how Hart makes any sense. Why not just bring in a kid? Who knows? Maybe you’ll discover someone.

I’m sensing a more personal connection to this one news story. I hope I’m wrong and that his extended family is ok. -
Great topic. I’m guessing expansion over relocation. What’s the oldest stadium, after the Bills new home opens? Seems like most of the older rust belts towns have recently built new facilities. Population centers are moving south.
-
Speaking as the Architect among us, I’m sure real design didn’t start until the ironclad budget was established. Hard to complete renderings without a budget. The new stadium will be built in the parking lot. Parking will be a challenge during the two years of construction but games can still be held at ‘Rich’ Stadium

You know I laughed when somebody first floated the Austin idea but I recently gave a seminar there and was honestly amazed at the size of downtown Austin. Dozens of new buildings and cranes everywhere…and of course the main University of Texas has been there for a century. That place is booming! (Great BBQ)

Tibs....you are clearly really invested in the Ukraine story. I'm curious. Are you of Ukrainian descent? If so, I certainly hope all of your family members are OK. -
So then in 20+ years the stadium expense will be fully amortized and the cost be the proverbial drop in the bucket. Rich Stadium cost $20 million back in the mid 70’s. Does anyone even think about that expense? Nope! (Im old enough to remember when the original video scoreboard cost $1 million and everyone said yikes.) 😉 Not arguing....just two old people having a front porch discussion. (Picture rocking chairs and a cold beverage.)
