Too early to write the eulogy of Patrick Mahomes. He is an incredible thrower. Is there too much going on to 100% fix it in season? Maybe. Chris Simms has been saying since the preseason that he isnt running or throwing the same. He believed and later confirmed that the foot injury is still an issue. Those magical plays are a bit off and he is missing open guys. He doesnt throw with the same technical ability as Rodger or Brady. He hasnt had to. Now being a little off he doesnt have his mechanics to fall back on. His style of play also needs to be examined. As does the play calling. Seems like they are relying on a big play from outside of structure or play design every series. Drop back, read the field, hit the guy. When in doubt throw it up. Teams are more expecting. Will Mahomes become more conservative overnight? No. Would I want him to? Probably, not. Run the ball way more. Take some off Mahomes plate. I feel the the foot will be an issue and I expect him to play up and down all year. Still a dangerous group if they find a grove.

Curious how Buffalo comes out. I would like a decent amount of running game. I think they will come out 4 and 5 wide. Time will tell. Buffalo is vastly superior in every phase. Is it a ho hum cover or complete blow out? Its rare to blow out a team twice. I expect Mia to be scrappy early.

10/18/21 Gameday Bills @ Titans Postgame thread
Mat68 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Last night it sucked. Overall, the team needs those kind of games. The offense has been about 60 to 75% thus far. They should come out of the bye on fire. Next big test in Tampa. Buffalo wasnt going undefeated. 3 losses imo takes the 1 seed and Buffalo is in position to do it. -
Red zone offense. The end of game and 2 fgs is what decided it. Convert 2 of the 3 into Tds and the game isnt that close. They have things to clean up for sure. I also think the right side of the oline is slowly becoming the strong side. Dawkins has been nothing more than average so far. The defense we caught in no mans land once Henry broke off that run. Those days will happen.

Buffalo has the advantage everywhere. Does Buffalo show up? There is no evidence to point to that happening. Under Mcdermott they havent played down to competition. Last year, what Tennessee did to them with scheduling and on the field they will have the teams 100% focus. That team is better than Tennessee. -
Rank The Buffalo Bills Starting QB’s Since Jim Kelly

He was too inconsistent a passer. Back to his college days. The Qb before him and after him had more success at FSU. He was super athletic but not a natural thrower. He was similar to Bortles in that way. -

I think overall Tyrod and Fitz take you to similar places. Imo Tyrod gets you a +1 to .5 more games. You beat everyone your suppose to. No one you shouldnt. Fitz you will win a game you shouldnt but also lose a game or so you should. Fitz will be more fun but at the end of the day you are at a net loss. Completely splitting hairs. -
Paper? No. Older yes? I saw a few weeks ago Gronk is only like 6 or 8 months older than Kelce. Gronk seems like he has played for 20 years at this point. Outside of Mahomes, Hill and Kelce how is the player development going? That was augmented by Matthew and Ford but they are older and missing time now. Their style of play has been unsustainable. For as dynamic a team they are the worst team vs the spread over the last 3 years. The pff “turnover worthy play”. That has disappeared for the most part from them because Mahomes lead the league by a mile last year. Now the ball is bouncing the other way. I believe Buffalo and Kc are going in 2 separate directions. Right now, this Kc team can still beat anyone. They will be a problem in the playoffs. The team as a whole is going to have some big changes to continue the same level of success moving forward this offseason. One thing Bill and the Patriots did would change the teams make up to stay ahead. Most teams try to hold onto what they had.

Tyrod was limited but he did end the streak. I think overall he was the most consistent Qb Buffalo had since Kelly. I think over time he deserves alot of credit for creating a culture for Allen to succeed in. Beyond that I think Bledsoe had a good stretch. I believe a case can be made, they should have kept Fitz for the length of his extension. Complete revisionist history but he was the better active player for much of that time before Tyrod. Going down memory lane here it makes me just thank the football Gods for Allen. My, were these players night and day different from Kelly and now Allen. -
They will play Nickel and rush 4 and 5. Backs and Tes may make some plays in the pass game. Get to Tannehill and dont give up the deep pass to Julio or AJ. Box will be pretty loaded as is. Makes bringing pressure from different places easier.

Tremaine Edmunds named AFC Defensive Player of the Week
Mat68 replied to nato7412's topic in The Stadium Wall
Modern MLB is very hard to grade. 1. Its impossible to truly know what there responsibilities are on a given play. 2. The game has changed. Coming forward, shedding blocks, eating rbs is not the most important thing. 3. The offense revolution due to player saftey opens up the middle of field like never before. Look at Mahomes passing chart. There is an abyss in the middle of the field due to Edmunds size and range. I believe he is taught to read pass first than run. His size will give him a leverage disadvantage on runs up the middle. Modern day football isnt won with Iso or inside counter so its not that big of a deal overall. Vs modern offenses and elite Qbs Edmunds is the type of MLB you want imo. -
Josh Allen: A winner above all other things
Mat68 replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would say look at Wyoming before, with, and after Allen. He won more game there than any Qb in like 30 years. That has helped create the mindset that stats dont matter. I do not believe he cares what his yards and Tds are after a game. Just win is his mindset. If he thinks this way the other guys have no choice. -
Bucky Brooks and Daniel Jeremiah have a saying that rings true to me. Is your Qb a truck or a trailer. No matter whats behind him within reason the qb put them on their back. Some Qbs with the right team can win. Overall the team carries the qb. Both style have won superbowls.

Bills at Titans on MNF. Predict the score.

This isnt high school or college. Buffalo is a well coached team last year the only team the blew out Buffalo was Tennessee. How do they not carry the energy from KC to Nashville? Next week is a bye. 42-16 has to be waterboarded at this point into the teams brain. They dont play well they could get blown out on national Tv. There D is bad Allen is finding rhythm I see Allen having a incredible type win. -

Poetic revenge 52-10. Last year -
Seems like the 3rd teamers too me. Premier games every week and they are not the caliber of the other networks.
-
But they are not monetizing it. Similar to music play I would asssume. Mario Williams had the Super Mario Bros power up.
-
The regular crew is painful to listen too. Cant stand Riddick. Levy sounds like he is calling a hockey game. Griese should be on the big ten network or average 330 college game on ESPN2. Harsh? Yes, but accurate. They gotta have someone better. Heck, Danish Louvski and Mina Kimes with strong play by play would have to be better.

Rousseau is a unique guy. He is athletic but not twitchy. Long and narrow waisted but strong. He will only get better and thats pretty exciting.

So when do we start playing “I am Groot” on the pa system in the stadium for every play he makes? For us fans do we chant I am Groot or do the long GROOOOOOOTTTTT? Important questions need to be answered.
