Exactly, you can't live in hindsight. Metcalf had a lot of hype but a lot of receivers were taken ahead of him and he was the 64th pick, Ed was 8 I think. Point is there was hype but no consensus among NFL people about Metcalf. It's always a crapshoot to some degree. I have yet to see any good objective analysis of GM's ability to select players, it is hard to do but Beane has been very good. Ford was a dud, Basham and Elam are others. But then you have guys like Bernard and Benford. Mostly his players have done well, it takes some of them time to get there....

Or one of the other DT's would actually be better. The obsession with WR's.........

Seahawks release Tyrel Dodson - UPDATE claimed by Dolphins
Matt_In_NH replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe they were going to demote him and he had attitude about it or something. He seemed to have a temper issue. -
I live in NE and I rooted against them as hard as I root for the Bills. The 72 thing gets overplayed but who really pays attention to it other than Dolphins fans, it means nothing to me.

This was suppose to be a rebuild year
Matt_In_NH replied to BillMafia716ix's topic in The Stadium Wall
Interesting the title of the thread is rebuild but you chose to say retool, they are different. The Bills did retool but that does not have to come with decreased expectations. I felt they had about the same chance as the previous 4 years of winning the SB but I would stop short of saying it is a SB winning team, they have NEVER been that. The big changes were over hyped...Poyer and Hyde were old and slow, Morse was replaceable, Davis was replaceable. The big loss was Diggs but I am not like most who dwell on WR's all the time, the Chiefs have shown that. I feel the Bills have an organization and QB to compete year in and year out, lots of the other pieces can change but they will still be able to compete for a championship. And they accomplish that by having good depth and they teach their schemes well. That does not mean there is not growing pains with some of the changes, but that is manageable for the most part. -

Can someone link where the Bills said "THis was going to be a rebuild year". That is just what some media and fans thought IMO. -
Goff throws 5 picks and yet they find a way to win. That is nuts

The object is to win… they get that. They also have a great defense. -

And if they lose next week they are out of the running for the one seed earlier than any of the last 4 years. -

That was a great drive they had no business even doing it with two holds in one series. That was a great drive they had no business even doing it with two holds in one series. -
Hope Bernard stays healthy for 4 games ….

No, that is what you assume people think, we all are concerned about Bass dude. It does not change that kick and the awesome moment it was.

I think it has been proved that you don't have to be living to have a high level federal position. -

But are those tax cuts ever paid for with spending cuts? Answer is no. The cuts were deficit funded and you think its it is some great move because it greats a temporary boom, of course it does, duh! The net affect is more money in the economy which produces jobs, people consume but it is good for today, what about 50 years from now, what about kids/grand kids...what are they being left with the growth of deficits and debt that tries to Quelch an insatiable urge for more money for me today. This is not a republican or democrat problem, it is a everyone problem no one talks about. The reality is this country needs a come to Jesus moment in regards to debt but no one talks about it. New age economists have made up new theories based on observations but none of it is laws of physics, it is a complicated web of policy and economic conditions that don't stay static, things change. -
NFL officiating is broken. How do we fix it?
Matt_In_NH replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am a referee defender because I think the job is so much harder and in some respects impossible. Not saying there cannot be improvements but I think it is way harder of a job and they actually are much better than people realize. There are 22 players on the field and 7 officials. They simply cannot see everything in real time that you see on the various camera angles that you can slow down after the fact. It just makes sense that they "miss" things because their eyes can only be focused on one thing, sure you have peripheral vision but that is not able to see details. The harder ones to forgive are when there is a flag that should not have been. This happens with holding and PI, things happen fast and I believe they do about as good as a human can do. The NFL makes more rules and adds details to rules all the time, there is more for guys to monitor for. NFL officiating in general is light years better than 30 years ago before there was replay They greatly improved the catch rule a few years ago They added quick reviews for obvious misses of spots or did the guy get in or was it a first down, no challenges needed, they fix it after and dont really slow the game down. They get spots right more than they used to. They get catches right more often then they used to Full time officials is a dumb idea, it changes nothing about a humans ability to see/process a 1000 details per second in real time. What has changed is attention to the officials, memes, gifs, social media where a 2 second loop can be slowed down and shared incessantly. -
