  1. $1400 checks to lower income people don't help those in need? The Childcare tax credit doesn't help those in need? Maybe you should think about what you're typing.
  2. Might be true for some, but certainly not most. Teaching is a calling for many of us. It's the career I wanted to go into starting in 9th grade and that never changed. Been teaching for 17 years and love my job. It's challenging and rewarding in ways someone who's never done it will simply never understand. And most (though not all) of the teachers I know have dedication to their craft... because that really what it is... a craft. I have conferences with occasional idiot parents (sounds like you're one of those) who have a large number of assumptions because they're half paying attention to what their students are doing in schools while pretending they're fully paying attention. Standard Helicopter Parents. Meet with them. Talk to them. Discover they don't know their head from their a$$ because they didn't actually read the syllabus they signed permission for and are consistently being told something by their kids that just isn't true. You wanna help your kids? Put the onus of learning where it belongs first and foremost... on them. Next. Go to the Teacher. Somewhere in the middle there you might also want to examine yourself as a parent. You're clearly bitter... maybe you had a bad teacher and you're just projecting now. I think you should self-assess.
  3. Yes. Part of the reason we've sucked so much at Covid is because of the moron anti-maskers in our country who you can be sure are vastly also part of the anti-vaccination movement. I say this anecdotally from the people I know who are anti-maskers, but I doubt you'd disagree that they're largely (though not entirely) part of the same group. Wanna complain constantly about everything being shut down and having to wear a mask anywhere in public? Get your damn vaccination so we can crawl out of this. "take a $1400 designed to “stimulate” the economy and use it for self-serving purposes" ... I get that you're probably playing Devil's Advocate or trying to be funny with this... but on the off chance that I should take that statement seriously... As for student loan debt. The average cost of college is 31 times more than it was 50 years ago and today the average American needs to earn $22k more than the median income just to afford college. Yes, something needs to be done. Income hasn't been affected, yet. Anticipating it happens this year as we are in a contract year. And I've still had to commute to teach... even from an empty classroom at the beginning of this. I'm not a policy-maker and so I won't pretend to be able to make these proposals, but I think the $10k of student loan debt cancellation is a good start. Republicans are such funny creatures: Deficit Hawks when Democrats are in office and massive spenders when Republicans are in office. Funny how our Deficit is consistently lower under Democratic Administrations than Republican Administrations. Glad this bill went through as it's $1.9 trillion that is actually going to help a lot of Americans that need really need the help in the lower and middle class as opposed to Trump's tax cut adding $1.9 trillion to our debt that primarily benefits the very wealthy.
  4. This is from a Republican:
  5. Maybe the teachers aren't the problem in your equation
  6. Your perspective is interesting because it seems to represent the entire Republican perspective. "I'm not struggling financially. The people I know aren't struggling financially. These checks are stupid!" All the while... neither you nor most of the people you know are making more than $80k and therefore aren't getting checks, anyway... And the focus seems to be on how these checks must be for things for like mortgage and bills... which are monthly and so they are dumb because it's just kicking a can down the road. Fact is I'm not one of those that's struggling to pay a mortgage, but as soon as I got that $1400 I put it towards debt, which is probably what most Americans who aren't in that former category are doing. I hope the Biden Adminstration tackles the student loan debt crisis next... that's what my $1400 went towards, anyway.
  7. Oh man that would have been a FANTASTIC idea!!! I'm getting irritated by people I know personally who are complaining about everything still being closed while simultaneously refusing to get a vaccine. Buncha idiots... and these are people I love.
  8. I don't think it makes sense for Guerrier to be gone after this season. To me he DEFINITELY needs another year of development. I think Griffen looks like an NBA player if he can get out of his own head and out of Boeheim's doghouse.
  9. 3:50 in the afternoon for me... awesome!!!
  10. Yes I agree about Guerrier... especially since he's developing that outside shot. He needs to get better finishing around the rim, too. As for Braswell vs Richmond... like I said... I like both. And if you're saying Braswell is "basically a Junior," then I assume you're saying he still has 3 years of eligibility in CBB, correct? That's an eternity to improve... and I don't see why an athletic 6'9 forward who can finish around the rim and shoot from outside will also be required to handle the ball like a point guard in the NBA... not every forward in the NBA is LeBron. I just think if Richmond were to really pop as a strong NBA prospect he'd be able to finish the way Johnny Flynn was consistently able to. Regardless... by the sounds of it both guys have 3 years of eligibility after this year so they have 3 years to keep getting better.
  11. I have Paramount Plus. What are those shows abou? True crime? I'm watching The Stand on Paramount Plus and I'm on episode 5. I really don't understand why people don't like this show. I think it's excellent.
  12. Really? I think Richmond looks like he'll be an NBA player if he can ever figure out how to finish around the rim. Braswell appears to have the athleticism to get it done around the rim and has been hitting distance shots lately, too. Regardless... Syracuse looks pretty good moving into the next couple seasons.
  13. It's interesting because Syracuse's depth players seem like they've really come into their own at the end of the year. Richmond, Braswell and Edwards look like real forces on this team and all 3 look like they have incredibly promising futures in Syracuse. Braswell looks like he'll be playing in the NBA in 2-3 years. I really have mixed feelings about Girard... especially as a point guard. I think Richmond will make a better point guard moving forward next year and then obviously when Buddy leaves the problem is almost solved as Girard can just become a shooting guard. Well... I would never make a prediction about our next game. But Syracuse has already proven they can beat anyone since they pretty much dominated both opening games against supposedly superior opponents. Just waiting for the time of tip off next Saturday...
  14. Let's GOOOO!!!! And a random side question... what's with the scheduling of the tournament? Why is the first weekend running from Friday to Monday rather than the usual Thursday to Sunday?
  15. Exactly! Watson could probably walk into bars all across the country and pick up gorgeous women in bars who would have sex with him voluntarily. Must be a fetish or he's watched too much porn. Regardless this just does not look good for him. At what point does the NFL conduct policy kick in?
  16. Is it bad that I completely expected us to win this game? Weird thing is I almost never feel this about the Bills, but when the Orange gets into the NCAA Tourney and they aren't playing teams familiar with their zone... they win 9 times out of 10 in the opening rounds. Now I feel less confident about West Virginia, but still good. And holy crap Buddy Boeheim just made some bank!
  17. Don't we also have another former weapon of Josh Allen's on the team from Wyoming? Tanner Gentry?
  18. Is this for real? Why isn't Beane looking at our most glaring positions of need at the moment in CB, TE and pass rusher? Granted I am sure he gets one or two of those in the draft next month and they'll be immediate starters... but still... aren't we stacked at WR now?
  19. Damn well better be for super cheap. This is out left field to me... especially considering Josh didn't miss a game last year
  20. Do you actually understand what a "salary cap" is? Yes there are ways to manipulate it. No one is "scared" of it because it's not some imaginary monster. This year it's $182.5 million. Nothing to be scared of because that's just the number all 32 teams are working around. Sheesh... win one Super Bowl and get crushed in another and suddenly you think you're the Football guru we Bills fans are lucky to have hanging around.
  21. I said earlier that I thought I remembered Joe B or Fairburn saying our draft class Cap allotment for this year was about $2.5 million, but evidently I was wrong. According to the Q & A Joe B had on the Athletic today, it's actually only $1.7 million
  22. Who are you talking to? You sound like an idiot.
  23. You probably have some serious issues with our first dozen or 2 Presidents considering the way elections were run from our nation's founding through the 1800s or so. The simple fact is that we've been getting better at elections... not worse. You can cherry pick an irregularity here or a single case of fraud there... but nothing widespread. The "Trump Supporters" case consists of constant and consistent examples of logical fallacies (Sampling bias, Confirmation bias, etc) that belie the actual argument itself. I bet if you dug deep into every single case you believe you have of fraud, you'll find that most aren't actual fraud if you're being objective. I say this not as a guess. I say this because I actually bothered doing it spending time with the lunatics on that other board with the belief (that turned out to be blind hope) that they could see reason and be pulled out of the rabbit hole. Oh... and it's wildly presumptuous of you to think that everyone who voted for Trump believes what you believe. They don't.
  24. Actually... you're the side that has the proving to do... and you failed time after time after time in the courts and with audits and recounts. Your argument that Trump won this election has been verified multiple times by officials who wanted him to win. Just because you desperately wish there was widespred fraud doesn't mean there was. Be grateful Donald Trump was President... even if it was just for one term and he left office in disgrace.
