Shady, for a guy who argues that we're beating dead horses with Taylor... I think you post about him waaaAAAAAaaaaayyyy more than anyone else. You're also like a child: "Fare Thee Well Tyrod Taylor" ... ? (What happens if he's back next year? Hmmmm?) Seriously, you're sounding like a kid pointing fingers on the playground at this point. You have chores to do this weekend? Maybe take a break from posting about Taylor, who you must secretly admire, and start those chores now. He'll be there to dissect after the game for you on Sunday. It's okay, I'm sure you've had enough dopamine rushes to your head getting your post count up to last you through your chores

Clearly that's a rhetorical question, so please, tell me why? Pretty much... now they can't seem to do anything better than below average -

Well I dunno, but it doesn't help that 4 out of 12 of our drives ended because of a called run. 3 of those were stuffed for 2 yards or less. The other was a 4 yard gain... on 3rd and 6 -

Not a clue where you're getting your information from, but the only one you got right is that he's 10th when they're 1 or 2 yards. He's 8th from 3-7 yards. http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/leaders.asp?range=NFL&rank=048&type=Passing&year=2017 He's 15th when 8+ yards. http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/leaders.asp?range=NFL&rank=047&type=Passing&year=2017 -

Yes... it was absolutely a big problem against the Saints. But overall it hasn't been a "problem" this year because he's successfully converting 3rd downs. Yet, people point to that Saints game as though it's an overall representation of what Taylor does on 3rd and 4th down, which is just ridiculous. -

Well it could be because Taylor has been asked to convert more 3rd and 8+ yard plays (57) than any other QB in the NFL save Phillip Rivers (62). Somehow he's still having his best year thus far in terms of 3rd down conversion percentage and is currently 12th in the NFL. The frustration from the Saints game is understandable and something I felt a lot, too, but considering Taylor has been well above average converting 3rd downs as a whole and above average in converting those 3rd and long plays, despite facing the 2nd most in the NFL. It's funny because people throw out the argument that using certain stats is cherry picking and then do things like Shady earlier in this thread and point to 2 overthrows to Zay Jones (it was actually 1) as some kind of proof of his inefficiency. Talk about hypocrisy -

Oh yeah... forgot about that one... that was on 3rd down... so of course Taylor gets the blame for the punt, right? Wow... you're kinda like a petulant child with this, Shady. You mad? That absolutely was NOT a poor throw by Taylor. Toe tapping is routine for NFL WRs and that particular toe tap was one Jones had plenty of time and space to complete. Would have been a 3rd down conversion but wasn't because Jones didn't do something most NFL WRs practice consistently. -

The bomb to Jones in the EZ that hit him in his left hand was overthrown and is a throw you're trying to use to point out how inadequate Taylor was? Wow. Just wow At least pick a throw we can all agree on like the O'Leary completion that gave him no opportunity for YAC. As for cherry picking what now must just be a single pass to Jones on your mind: Here's something tweeted the other day by @NFLResearch: Bills WR Zay Jones has 2 TD in his last 3 games, and Tyrod Taylor has a 126.4 passer rating when targeting Jones in that spanFor context, Jones didn’t score a single TD in his first 7 games, and Taylor had a 28.8 passer rating when targeting Jones over that span -

How about some handoffs from shotgun? We go under center and we are almost certainly going to hand the ball off and get stuffed... I-formation and you can practically bet your house on it. And before anyone says "only with Taylor" - Peterman ran 25 plays 13 were in the shotgun and ALL were passing plays. 12 were under center and 8 were handoffs. 5 were stuffed for 2 yards or less. Very true What question do you want me to answer? You're sniffing for something that's pretty obvious. Peterman was not ready. We've heard rumblings and rumors over the last month or so that she needed to take a lot more strides and didn't look great in practice. We've also heard the rumblings in the rumors that Denison was the main push her to get Peter men on the field because he could execute his offense. If the latter part is true, I'm not that all worried and about McDermott. Why do I know it was a mistake based on practice? I don't... 100%. Obviously I don't sit in practice. Do you? Let's just call it a very educated guess, partially based on what we saw in the Chargers game -

I'm sorry, do you really think that someone has to like absolutely everything about a coach or a player that they like? Is that what you believe? Well, that's just disturbing... but that doesn't mean I don't like you Yes, it disturbed me. That doesn't mean that I don't still like Mcdermott. -

You disagree that McDermott might not last? So you think he's going to be our head coach forever? You believe he's untouchable? You believe that if we do fire Dennison and this conservative "hold on for dear life to your lead and let the defense seal the victory" carries on into next year with a new OC, indicating that it's really and largely McDermotts approach, that it might not get him in some serious trouble as we start to lose games? 2nd year Head Coaches are fired all the time in the NFL nowadays. -

This is a really nice find, Hap. It's just insane how bad our offense this year has been on first and second down. It's just so friggin predictable based on whatever formation we line up in. And yet, Taylor has having his best year so far in converting those third downs even though they're usually third and long on average. Forgot about that. The offensive playcalling has just been so overwhelmingly bad far too often. -

Even with Peterman Dennison tried to stick with the run and chose to run at some weird times. So damn predictable. Here are the 1st plays on 1st down from that game in the 1st half: 1st drive - Shady run -1 yard 2nd drive - Shady run 2 yards 3rd drive - Shady run for 37 yards (he would run on the next play as well and score) 4th drive - Peterman pass for 8 yards 5th drive - Peterman pass intercepted 6th drive - Shady run for -3 yards 7th drive - Shady run for 6 yards 8th drive - Peterman pass for 19 yards 13 shotgun snaps. All passes. No runs. 12 snaps taken under center in that span and only 4 passes. 2 interceptions, 1 completion, 1 incompletions. 8 runs by Shady. 5 of them he was stuffed for 2 yards or less. You tellin me the Chargers didn't know what was comin? Dennison still sure seemed to want to run the ball a lot, even with his Golden Boy. He just couldn't because we went behind so quickly that we pretty much had to pass. -

Well that's interesting... I didn't know that. Seems to explain his conservative approach a bit. Defensive Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator with a defensive background... offense would pretty much inevitably be pretty conservative. You're absolutely right. We had fantastic field position and could have put the game away. But then Dennison called 3 straight runs that gained zero yards on 1st down, -1 yard on 2nd down, and -1 yard on 3rd down. -

Offensive system might be the same. But offensive system doesn't matter if you aren't calling the right plays at the right times. Dennison seems to have piss poor decision making in terms of play selection. -

The same approach happened when we went up by 2 scores on the Jets in week 1 very early in the 4th quarter. We had 3 meaningful drives if you disregard the last 3 kneeldowns by Taylor. 13 plays, 2 passes, 8 handoffs to RBs, 3 designed runs by Taylor. Those 8 runs by the RBs gained a combined 9 yards. There were two 3 & outs as the team faced a 3rd & 9, a 3rd & 8, a 3rd & 7, and a 3rd & 17 (due to an accepted holding penalty on a failed conversion by McCoy on 3rd & 7 as he got 3 yards). Question, why are you saying they're the most inept team we've faced all season? Is this a "it's not about who you face, but when you face them" type of thing? Would that then mean that you are more impressed by Buffalo's victory over Denver and Atlanta (both teams were undefeated when we played them) than KC? -

Two passes that weren't catchable to Jones? Is one of the passes you are talking about that near perfect pass that hit Jones in the hands right at the beginning of the end zone where Jones and then defied gravity as he pushed himself up from the ground? -

Really? Explain away because I gave you a whole bunch of reality. That Dennison's very conservative is not reality? That we were way too close to losing that game on Sunday when we probably could've put it away at several different points is not reality? That if we lost that football game and lost other games where we had a similar mentality at the end of the game Denver, Atlanta that we wouldn't be looking like a really bad football team is not reality? that really bad football teams haven't had their head coaches go into year to on an extremely short leash is not reality? Have you been a fan of the Buffalo Bills very long? Try looking at recent history We all know that Taylor will be gone after 2018 if not 2017. My concern is Dennison and, in part, McDermott. I'm off-base despite you half agreeing with me? Apparently you're misreading what I said about McDermott as a lot of people here seem to be. Never said and don't think he's going to be gone after this year. -

Actually, you have no clue what you're talking about. In general, I really really like Mcdermott. I was one of the only people talking about playoffs as we went into the season and it was because of the coach and the culture change that he seem to bring, which is one of the things I really like.I was one of the only people talking about playoffs as we went into the season and it was because of the coach and the culture change that he seem to bring, which is one of the things I really like. And I never said that I think he'll be gone this offseason. But if he keeps up this conservative mentality on offense (assuming of course that he's a large influence of the offensive philosophy), then I don't think this is sustainable long-term. -

Wait, are you actually saying that Taylor is calling the offensive plays in the second half? Right. We called 9 passes. 26 passes called in the 1st half. 9 in the 2nd half. -

I think he's inevitably still here next year, but I'm worried about how much influence he has in this conservative offensive philosophy. If it's very little, I'm not that concerned, but Dennison better be gone. Yeah, that's not really what I'm saying. This is a question of sustainability.
