  1. Did I or did I not say I would need to see someone's plan for reparations before saying whether I liked it or not? Wait, too many dumbasses here to ask rhetorical questions... The answer is yes, I did say that. I think people like you have an insanely extreme view of what these reparations would be, if they were ever implemented, and I kinda doubt our culture, where rich white guys still have all the power, will ever actually let it happen.
  2. No. You don't get to escape your dumbass racist comment. Don't project your own racism onto me when I said and implied nothing about race. You just obviously assumed it was about race because she's black. That's on you. If you we're accusing me of racism, that's clearly what you should call yourself. I also like Kamala Harris in part because she's well-spoken. I think a president should be well spoken and articulate him/herself well. That's one of the reasons I don't like Trump, didn't like Bush, don't like Warren. Booker fumbles around a bit too much and almost speaks at a speed that's incoherent at times. Has nothing to do with race, you racist bastard.
  3. Pfft... yes, Trump would be the best President in the history of the US... nay... the world... nay, the UNIVERSE if everyone weren't out to get him.
  4. #1 is the one I don't really care for. I'd ask for #2 the same thing he was asked when asked if he would commit to reparations like a couple of the other candidates... what exactly are reparations and how would they be implemented? Yes, I could get behind some form of reparations considering the massive economic disparity that's existed in our country since its founding and has persisted even after the Civil Rights Act of the 60s in subtle, but still pernicious practices like red lining. But I would need specific details. I'd get behind something, though, yes. I'd like it to include Native Americans and Hawaiians, too.
  5. WTF are you talking about idiot?! Did I say anything about race? I brought up well-spoken because of who currently sits incapably in the Oval Office. If race was what came to your mind when I said that, look in the mirror when you're throwing out accusations of racism, moron. Hey, I guess I'm kinda getting the hang of this namecalling thing that's acceptable here...
  6. She worked in the Public sector as an Assistant to the Mayor of Chicago, Assistant Commissioner of Planning and Development, Executive Director for the Chicago office of Public Allies, Associate Dean of Student Services at the University of Chicago developing the University's Community Service Center, worked as executive director for community affairs and then as Vice President for Community and External Affairs for Chicago Hospitals. She's super smart, graduating from Princeton and then Harvard law school. She's very well-spoken, which would help in addressing not only the public, but also in foreign relations. She's a fantastic role-model. That more than checks any boxes she would need, especially now that so many boxes have been eliminated with our current president. If Michelle Obama ran for President, she would win. If she ran against Trump, it wouldn't surprise me if he would bow out knowing the inevitable outcome. But she's not running, so no point in discussing it, really. But I was challenged to answer a question, so I did.
  7. Was Donald Trump? A business is not a country. Were Barack Obama or John F. Kennedy? They were Senators and never executives of anything. I'd say being up close and personal as 1st Lady is a damn positive notch on the qualification scale if she checks other boxes.
  8. I love the aspirational ideals of the Green New Deal, but not all parts of it essentially for how it would or would not be put into practice. I absolutely believe in man's influence on our climate. Considering how much we've changed the world in the last century, I believe it's foolish not to. Plus, there's science. I absolutely believe everyone should get health care and I'm fine paying more in taxes for it. Our taxes go to things like our highways and bridges and airports and trains and education system and social security and so on... they should absolutely go towards people getting health coverage, too. I absolutely believe there's been a history of repression of women, of people of color, and of indigenous people (Native Americans, Hawaiians, etc.) that's systemic in our very culture that needs to change. If you think I'm a Democratic Socialist because of those things in particular, fine. But no, I do not consider myself a Socialist.
  9. She has 8 years of being a 1st hand observer and secondary executive to the President of the United States. C'mon man...
  10. Has there ever been a poll of the average age over here at PPP? Just curious. Seems it might shed some light on some of the things I read over here. Boy the way you present these things just tells me how wildly I differ in opinion from most of PPP, in all likelihood. This country has waves of young voters who are likely to come out and actually vote, just like they did a few months ago. Those young voters ain't votin for Trump.
  11. What did I need to defend myself on? You did it for me. It's not my fault you misrepresented what I said, but thank you for quoting what I actually said
  12. What in the world does any of that have to do with the false accusation from DC Tom and my response? Yeah, I stand by what I said about PPP because, as you so glowingly show with our interaction here, this place is pretty vile. But that has nothing to do with the statement I made, DC Tom's idiotic response, and my correction. Stop being a vapid deautschbag, dummy. Oh hey... there it is Precisely... almost... as long as you consider "primarily" the majority reason
  13. your a idiot
  14. Not at all. Many here seem to be, though. Don't worry, I will when I want I actually think that's the ticket the DNC is kinda hoping for. They can sell Biden as largely an extension of a former President who's still hugely popular and as a bridge to something more progressive in Beto. Obama would have been the ideal candidate, but completely understandable why she refuses to run.
  15. Again, I disagree, and I think you're looking at this the wrong way. We have a year and a half for the Democratic candidates to sort themselves out in the same way the Republican candidates sorted themselves out in that field. Remember how loaded that field was and how incredibly contentious it was? Remember all those "never trumpers" and how quickly they reversed course when he became the candidate? There's so much time for this all to sort itself out, and it will. Trump won, in part, because of a massive miscalculation on Clinton's part to not campaign according to the Electoral college. I don't think the next candidate makes the same mistake. As far as candidates go, I would say a Biden/Beto ticket probably has the strongest chance to win, followed by Harris and then the field. I can name candidates I favor over others. The ideal Democratic candidate has already committed to not running for President. But those candidates will all sort themselves out come election time. No matter what the situation is right now, it's meaningless in relation to November of 2020, when the election actually happens. In the meantime, while Trump's base is fiercely loyal, it's maybe 1/3rd of the country, while the rest of the country is moving more and more left. I don't want the extreme left candidates like Warren or Bernie to be the Democratic candidate, personally, thought I'd vote for them over Trump in a heartbeat.
  16. Only the $200 empty bottle that I won in a bet. And I don't stare... it just hovers over me, reminding me of my victory. Almost doesn't matter. I think the same thing that got Trump into office largely ("he's not Hillary!") is what's going to get him out ("he's/she's not Trump!").
  17. Oh that bottle on my mantle is empty. You think I didn't drink it? What am I, nuts? Wow. I pretty strongly disagree. This is also why I stay out of PPP. Pretty staunchly right of middle over here. We're more than a year and a half away from the election and you're saying no one who's declared so far has a chance of beating Trump... Yeah, if we lived close and were friends, I'd probably bet you a bottle of scotch, that I would savor immensely.
  18. Not at all, actually. DC Tom did because, apparently, he's illiterate. Oh wait, we can name call here, I guess I have to be more juvenile. DC Tom is a weeny. No... no... no... to childish... DC Tom is a meanie ..no.... DC Tom is.... hang on... I need time to bring out the playground bully in me...
  19. Are you a twitter bot? I'm sure there's some computer algorithm out there throwing out these ridiculous one-liners you've almost exclusively been throwing out for a couple years at least. You used to have occasionally thoughtful and insightful posts. Now you're just a solid representation of so much that is wrong with social media and message boards.
  20. Sure looks like you're insinuating "if it weren't for the Fed, Trump would have his 4%-6%." Sounds like an excuse. For the record, I think the entire notion that a President is solely or even primarily responsible for the economy in most cases is pretty ridiculous, but the fact that those who want to give credit to Trump for the economy are giving excuses like the Fed for why we still aren't even above 3% is just silly considering the last time our economy was over 3% annual GDP Federal Interest Rates was in a year when our Interest Rates were higher than they currently are at the beginning of the year and were raised over 2% in the span of that same year.
  21. Oh, we're namecalling and allowed to here? No, I didn't. You present yourself as intelligent and then resort to this. Some people voted for Trump primarily for economic reasons. (This was the one I mentioned) but... Some people voted for Trump primarily for social reasons. Some people voted for Trump primarily for immigration. Some people voted for Trump primarily to plant conservative judges in all different courts. Some people voted for Trump primarily because he wasn't Hilary. Some people voted for Trump primarily because he was anti-establishment and was going to drain the swamp. So, how is me mentioning one of those reasons covering all people who voted for him?
  22. Did I say that everyone who voted for Trump is one of those people? Is that legitimately how you read what I said?
  23. I wish my father-in-law would be as convinced as you. All of my in-laws are hardcore Republicans/Trump fans. My father-in-law (step-father-in-law really, but wife is closest to him) was uber convinced Obama wouldn't win a 2nd term; so convinced he bet me a bottle of Johnny Blue. That bottle is still sitting on my mantle at home. I've been trying to get him to make the same bet about Trump winning a 2nd term, though I'd want a good bottle of single-malt this time rather than Johnny blue.
