I agree, in order to get anything out of him you must gradually ease him into the season. With load management, pitch counts and emphasis on 3rd down. Then hopefully he's near 100% approaching the playoffs.

Can anyone describe Bosa without using the term "when healthy". We did not improve our pass rushing production very much. Maybe a sack or two? I knew our odds of getting a Garrett, Crosby, Hendrickson were slim to none. Thought maybe Beane could've gone after Sweat or Koonce more aggressively? Who knows what we have in Bosa & Hoecht?? So that leaves the 6-8 brothers AJ & Greg. Neither show up in the playoffs and neither is likely to ever touch 10 sacks. We need to draft a diamond pass rusher next month. I'm already looking at 2026 FA pass rushers.

I know when McDuffie came off the board, BB probably panicked a little. Too bad his few scouts didn't steer him toward Karlaftis as insurance for AJE. Elam will join a long list of 1st round busts. A 5th is better than nothing. Maybe we use that pick to find a hungry CB like Benford.

Joey Bosa signs with Buffalo. 1 year, $12.6 million

Or Bosa has 5 sacks and it becomes a dribbler back to the mound for Beane. You know a fa acquisition is bad when you hear dozens of comments like "when healthy" or "it's only a 1 yr deal". -

Josh Palmer, you had 1 td last year, you get 12M. Joey Bosa, you had only 5 sacks last year, you get 12M. Jimbo, we appreciate your 18 tds but you'll have to wait. -

Bubble wrap and egg shells...not expecting much. -
Only a fool wouldn't at least try to get him back. He has 19 sacks in his last 2 seasons. And besides everybody is gone anyway.

Lorax....12.5 in 2016 Floyd.....10.5 in 2023

Well hopefully this swiss army knife element of Hoecht's game translates to more stunts and line movement. I've never been a fan of the incessant DL rotations. So maybe we'll see him line up as a 3T, DE or OLB? Hopefully we get the 2023 version? Unfortunately it looks like we're not getting a splash pass rusher in FA?

So enlighten me on exactly how long he will play and how much we will actually pay him off the cap?
-
If he becomes a Chief killer than I'm fine. 36M is alot of money to pay a guy who had 1 td last year. But he is young (25) and is projectable to develop into a better version of Hollins (who turns 32 in Sept).

Mack Hollins signs with Patriots

I keep being told by many about this incredible ability of Palmer to separate. But it doesn't add up. If he was truly able to separate, he would've had alot more than 1 td last year. Doesn't make sense? This better not turn into another Hines, Harty situation. Where Joe doesn't know how to use him. -

You're telling me we can pay Palmer 12/yr ( 1 td in 2024) but we can't pay Mack 4/yr? Unreal???? -
Now will they still extend Benford or Cook?
LABILLBACKER replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes and unfortunately this might play out too. I'm leary of paying Jimbo 15M but it is ironic we just signed today a WR for 12M/ yr who had 1 td last season. Compared to Cook's 18 TD's. Beane will figure it out. -
The problem is we didn't get the Bronco or Rams version. We got the Bills version which always comes with a large serving of curse. We signed Von to attack Patrick in the playoffs. In exactly 5 playoff games, Von had 0 sacks and 0 TFL's. Let that soak in. He was 33 when we signed him. It was way too risky & expensive considering the time frame and injury history.
-
Exactly....you're not guaranteed instant chemistry. Cooper & Samuel didn't exactly click right away. Hope I'm wrong about Palmer but his seperation / td ratio doesn't amaze me.
-
You don't pay backup production 12 large.
-
Do this and then you've got my attention in a good way. Not to mention if Hollins is brought back, we can spend the whole draft on defense.

Yr 1....4 tds Yr 2....3 tds Yr 3.....2 tds Yr 4......1 td ....people either Herbert sucks big time or there's a pretty scary trend here. And if he's so amazing separating, why doesn't this reflect in his production? I think DK got paid 8-10M more than he's worth and Palmer's getting about 6M more than he's worth. These signings are crazy.
-
Maybe he's just signed to buy Beane more time to actually draft a great, fast young WR1. I mean 12M for a guy who had 1 td last year is ridiculous.
