  1. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31121603/new-york-jets-wr-corey-davis-expects-sam-darnold-team-qb-season FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The New York Jets are keeping their quarterback plans hush-hush, but wide receiver Corey Davis said Tuesday he signed with the team based on the belief that Sam Darnold will return as the starter. "Obviously, I'm coming with my understanding that Sam is the guy," Davis said in Zoom call with reporters. "That doesn't scare me away at all. I've seen Sam do great things and I have all the belief in him. Whatever direction they decide to go, it's on me to make sure that I'm ready."
  2. Right right. I was just being a card by pointing out that "re-sign" and "resign" are not the same thing. 😜
  3. I wonder what happened to cause him to tender his resignation? Sad. In all seriousness, though: Good. Glad McKenzie re-signed. One less "need" going into the draft. I still think they'll draft a speedy WR/returner as competition and not put all their eggs in the McKenzie basket. That said, he's got proven productivity, versatility, a great attitude, and is a great fit in the locker room. Welcome back, Isaiah. Ball out!
  4. It seems quite clear they'll be drafting a very fast person to play WR at some point in the middle rounds. Likely a guy who can also return kicks. They've met with quite a few such players already.
  5. Yep. And Beane was at Florida State's pro day today, too. He might like him some Nasirildeen, as well.
  6. Ok. The latest, greatest perfect mock draft. I am convinced there could not be a better outcome:
  7. I have completed the most perfect draft that could possibly happen. I shall now retire from mock drafts, for improvement upon this draft is impossible.
  8. The fact that the Bills overpaid for Star and that his contract is not a good value does not mean that he is not a good player who improves the defense. Star's presence has a positive impact on the defense. Star was overpaid in free agency. Both things can be true. Here's Sean McDermott on Star: https://billswire.usatoday.com/2019/10/29/sean-mcdermott-star-lotulelei-defends-buffalo-bills/ And here's Lorenzo Alexander and Leslie Frazier on Star: https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2019/01/bills-lorenzo-alexander-says-star-lotulelei-earned-every-bit-of-big-contract.html Alexander: “Obviously he (doesn’t play) a sexy position, but he allows other people around him to make plays,” Alexander said. “I’ve definitely been able to have a pretty good year this year. A lot of it is contributed to what he’s been able to do as far as keeping guys off me, allowing me to run free. “In the pass rush, people can’t step up. On first or second down I know a couple of guys that have gotten sacks throughout the year just because Star has gotten that great push. He’s earned every bit of what he’s got with that five-year deal.” Frazier: “He demands a double team which allows our linebackers to run free and make some of the tackles that people might think the nose tackle should be making. That has been a plus for us, helping our linebackers to improve. But also to help our run defense. He’s done a good job of commanding attention from their interior, their center and their guards. It’s hard to block him one-one-one and that’s what we needed and he’s given us that.” So, respectfully, I disagree with you as far as Star's performance. He was overpaid, yes. But he's a good player who helps the Bills defense.
  9. **Update** Sammy Watkins sustained a foot injury boarding the plane to Baltimore and will miss 6-8 weeks.
  10. Thanks for this. I've been beating the "Star is a crucial piece of our defense" drum since his first season with us. Even after seeing how much our defense regressed without him in 2020 -- and no, I'm not saying his absence was the ONLY reason they regressed -- any defense of Star will still often fall on deaf ears. His consistently drawing double teams absolutely DOES free up the lighter, speedier members of our defense -- Oliver, Edmunds, Milano -- to make plays. His absence forced guys like Oliver and Jefferson to have to take snaps at 1T, which is a waste of their talents as penetrators. It also forced our linebackers to have to more often take on guards that would previously have been nullified by the d-line. Obviously, taking on guards is never going to be the strength of our linebackers. We'll see what shape he comes back in this season, but if he's in shape and returns to his previous level of play, I'm willing to bet the Bills defense rebounds significantly.
  11. I remember rolling my eyes so hard I nearly sprained them when Warner said he believed that because Allen was so tall, his "levers were too long" for him to ever be able to consistently display good mechanics and be an accurate quarterback. 🙄 Glad to see that he's come around. Thanks for the post.
  12. I found this interesting stat in today’s FMIA column by Peter King. (screenshot included below). Article link: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/03/22/nfl-free-agency-tv-deal-fmia-peter-king/ For anyone who is irritated that the Bills didn’t accomplish enough in free agency this year...please note that over the past three seasons, the Bills spent the third most of any team in the league in free agency. Of the top five biggest spenders, they’re the ONLY team with a winning record during that stretch. The FA spending spree had to stop at some point. The Bills have reached the point in their rebuild where drafting well and retaining talent is of paramount importance. Beane deserves credit for how effectively he has used free agency to help build the team to this point, and he deserves the benefit of the doubt.
  13. Since Weather Report Suite is getting some love over the past few posts -- and it should, it's gorgeous and is one of my all time favorites -- I thought some foiks might enjoy this. It's Bobby Weir playing an acoustic demo of the entire Weather Report Suite. He didn't have words for parts 1 and 2 yet, but he had the music worked out. This is about mid 1973. Post spring tour but prior to the Wake of the Flood recording sessions. Hearing it stripped down, acoustic....just beautiful. This is now and forever my answer to anyone who dares to try to tell me that Bobby isn't an absolutely incredible musician.
  14. With all due respect.... Who gives a *****?
  15. Blessed to have gotten my second shot on March 4th. Drove 90 minutes each way. Would've driven 900. Moderna. Arm pain at injection site after 1st and 2nd shots. Extreme tiredness, general feeling of unwellness for 24 hours after each shot. Otherwise, no side effects. So, so, thankful. Will still continue to mask, distance, and follow all CDC guidelines. Can't wait to hug my loved ones once they get jabbed!!!
  16. I feel like they want someone who can replace McKenzie but who can ALSO return kicks. While McKenzie has been a good punt returner at times, to my knowledge, he hasn't been an effective kick returner. Ultimately, I think they want to combine McKenzie and Roberts' roles into one guy, and pay him a rookie salary for four years.
  17. Nobody on Twitter is correct 100% of the time. Heck, I doubt THE BILLS even know what position they’ll be picking a month from now, so how would a Broncos beat writer know?! That said, he’s one of the more tuned in, routinely correct people around. Do what you will with his info. 🤷‍♂️
  18. I agree. I think the only way they’d consider an RB at 30 is if he’s a home run hitter and a pass catcher. Maybe they feel that Ettienne or Harris is those things. While I think they like Moss and Singletary, they DID try to sign Le’veon Bell last year, which I feel like they would not have done if they were TOTALLY happy with their current guys. Anyway, RB at 30 wouldn’t be MY preference in any case. Just passing along the potential intel from Albright.
  19. Benjamin Albright believes the Bills are thinking running back at 30. Thought that was interesting. He’s usually pretty plugged in. He was the most insistent national voice saying that the Bills were all in on Josh Allen, for instance.
  20. Back in Marv Levy’s day, they’d sing a song for such an occasion: Hooray for Sean! Hooray at last! Hooray for Sean, He’s a horse’s ass! Its kind of mean, right? But that was the song! Truly. I’m not making this up. Today, in Sean’s honor, I will sharpen iron with more iron, practice a growth mindset, trust the process, watch the tape, and clap gratuitously. In all seriousness...coach is a great leader and a great man, and I’m thankful he is the head coach of my favorite team. Happy Birthday, coach.
  21. Jackson seems like he's gonna sign a deal that's waaaay out of the Bills price range. I'm so irritated that the cap shrunk this year. I really feel that some of the edge rushers and corners on the market could have really helped the Bills, and we would have had roughly $30M instead of $5M when free agency started. Grrrrrr.
  22. Agreed. Just not sure bills can afford it unless those players are willing to take very cheap deals.
  23. Not sure if anyone has posted this yet. If not, I thought some might enjoy seeing it. It shows that Hollister is an incredible athlete for the position, but undersized. Good post. Serious question: why are there so many spaces and dot dot dots between your sentences?
  24. I’m late to this thread, but: Draft. The Bills already have two elder statesmen and a bunch of money tied up in the d line. What they need is youth and juice. the future going forward needs to be Oliver, Epenesa, 2021 early EDGE draftee. And then in 2022, when the cap normalizes, cut Addison and draft ANOTHER youngster at edge.
