  1. With the 62nd pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Sam Williams, EDGE, Ole Miss The Chiefs need some help at EDGE opposite Frank Clark. Sam Williams is freaky athletic, running a 4.46 at 6'4", 261 lbs. He needs a lot of improvement against the run, but his pass rushing skills pop off the tape. He set the school record for sacks in 2021 with 12.5 and also forced 4 fumbles. He has snap quickness, speed, flexibility, and active hands. He'll be a sub-package rusher in year one and, once he rounds out his game a bit, a fixture on our d-line for years to come. Williams was arrested for sexual battery in 2020, but here at Kansas City, we don't really mind having terrible scumbag human beings on the team because WINZ, baby! @HappyDays and the Cincinnati "you call this chili?!" Bengals are now on the clock.
  2. I always look at the opposing QB. I usually consider games against bad to mediocre QBs to be a lock, games against good QBs to be a more-likely-than-not Bills victory, and games against elite QBs to be a coin flip. After the past few years, I also expect games against very high powered running games to be a bit of a coin flip. We seem to really struggle with those at times. Most of my football watching life was spent in the drought. I’m not at “expecting to beat every team we play” just yet.
  3. You must be mistaken, Scott. I’ve never been wrong in my life. Not once.
  4. Well there you have it. The wife has spoken. That’s that.
  5. And how did that work out for them against good passing offenses last year? How did it work for them against the Kansas City Chiefs two years in a row in the playoffs? How effective were undrafted Levi Wallace and late rounder Dane Jackson in limiting Tyreek Hill in the most important games of the year? I would contend that while McDermott and Frazier are quite capable of coaching up late round corners in order to field a generally good pass defense, the lack of talent at CB2 (and once Tre was injured, at CB1) limited their defense schematically and left them vulnerable against good passing offenses. There were other factors, of course, but look at the defensive performance the first time we played Kansas City in 2021 vs the playoff game. Having Dane Jackson and Levi Wallace as the two starting corners absolutely cost the Bills. I don't believe that subtracting Levi Wallace and then adding in any combination of Nick McCloud, Olaijah Griffin, Cam Lewis, or Siran Neal is going to IMPROVE the secondary from what we saw in that playoff loss in KC, and make no mistake, the secondary needs to be better than it was in that game. Tre returning will help, but we don't know how many games he'll miss or how good he'll be immediately upon return. And even then, upgrading the CB2 spot -- I'm not ready to just hand it to Dane Jackson -- should be a priority. And on top of THAT, improved depth at outside corner is a necessity, as we saw after Thanksgiving last year. As for "eschewing BPA", I don't think I mentioned that anywhere in my post. I'd like to see two corners taken in this draft, but I didn't say that they should force it, or that one of them had to be a 1st rounder. I have said, and will repeat, that I'd actually prefer they use their 1st round pick on an offensive player. But between rounds 2-7, and with 8 picks overall, there's no reason they can't draft a couple corners. The pile of undrafteds (McCloud, Griffin, Lewis) is not enough to dissuade me from this notion. The AFC is loaded with good quarterbacks and good passing offenses. It's high time the Bills move past this "we can get by with undrafted guys from Alcorn State!" phase and add some outside corner talent opposite White.

  7. God I hope not. Don't rush Tre back. Injury recurrence odds go up if he comes back too early. Sign a veteran CB, draft two corners, and thus ensure that your defense will be strong enough to get you through until Tre is really and truly 100%. Good teams draft at least one corner every year any way.
  8. How do the Bills get to 12 wins? They wake up each Sunday and choose violence.
  9. Maybe it’s the health problems you noted, but the Eagles seem to do everything they can NOT to feature him. Boston Scott, Jordan Howard, Kenneth Gainwell…I keep waiting for Sanders to break out and it just hasn’t happened.
  10. This was the moment where we got over our Patriots hurdle once and for all. Ironically, it may have been the early Pats games that helped Allen grow the most. Solving those Belichick defensive puzzles pushed Josh to new heights.
  11. Makes perfect sense for the Eagles. Miles Sanders is nothing to write home about. Adding Breece allows Sanders to shift to a change of pace and third down back, which is probably a better role for him.
  12. I'm about to go out of the house for a few hours, and it's about to be my pick after H20. Rather than hold everyone up, I sent my pick to @Virgil. (side note: How does it seem like after waiting around for forever, it always seems to be your pick right when you're about to go out or go to work or go to bed? Like clockwork).
  13. His middle name is actually "Tapdancing". Jesus TAPDANCING Christ. Everyone knows this.
  14. Fair point. Hadn't considered that. I wonder if anyone will end up signing him and, if so, what his contract will look like. I'd rather have him than Shaq Lawson, but I'm guessing he's not willing to sign for what Shaq signed for.
  15. Just would've been nice to see a little statement from the team or something thanking Jerry for his time here if, in fact, he's not coming back. He was here for NINE years. Always a good, loyal Bill who did his job and never complained, even though we consistently stunk for the first half of his tenure here. I'm not asking for a parade or anything, just a little thank you message on social media, where fans could add their own thanks in the comments section. I know, I know, this is just business and I'm an overly sentimental goon. So be it. One of the best drought era Bills. Won't get to be part of our championship season in 2023. Just a shame is all.
  16. I do wish we were bringing Jerry Hughes back this season. He's been top 10 or top 20 in pressures or pass rush win rate multiple times over the past few seasons. I know the sack numbers aren't there, but he's been a productive pass rusher for the Bills for a while now. I think that the attention Von Miller will attract on 3rd downs would only make him better, similar to when he get to rush opposite Mario Williams. Alas, I suppose it was time to move on to the trio of youngsters and hope they step up. Doesn't make it any less sad to see a good guy, good player, and team leader like Jerry Hughes not get brought back.
  17. I really like the Emmanuel Sanders comp for Dotson. His combination of quickness, route running, hands, and deep speed, and the fact that he has inside/outside versatility. Same height and weight. Sanders was a high level receiver in this league for a long time, size be damned. I would be very happy if the Bills drafted Dotson.
  18. I agree with what you just said, to a degree, yes. I don’t agree with the belittling, overly simplistic, hyperbolic “McCoach can’t build an offense” comment that Vet made. I also don’t agree that there’s been a lack of effort to support Allen or that he lacks weapons in general. From signing Brown and Beasley and Morse, to trading for Diggs and drafting Gabe Davis, Dawson Knox, Devin Singletary, Zack Moss, and Spencer Brown, to signing Roger Saffold and OJ Howard and Jamison Crowder and re-signing Isaiah McKenzie, there has been a consistent effort to protect Josh and give home weapons. Those efforts have paid off by allowing the Bills to have a top three offense the past two seasons. So yes, I want the Bills to keep stacking playmakers on offense. I’ve said numerous times this offseason I hope they draft a WR in the first round and another by round 5. But no, I don’t agree with the notion that they don’t know how to build an offense or haven’t put resources into doing so, or that Josh has to do too much because this offense is bereft of playmakers. Also, I believe that no matter WHO they put on offense, Josh will always kind of look like he’s doing it all himself to a degree, because that’s who he is as a player. By the very nature of his will and next level effort, no one on offense is ever going to look like they’re doing as much or trying as hard as Josh Allen. That’s who he is, and that’s why we love him.
  19. Yeah, having the 3rd and 2nd ranked offense in the league the last two years really demonstrates his inability to build an offense. I thought the perfect offensive game against the Pats — something no other team in NFL history has EVER done — was particularly illuminating as to his inability to construct a good offense. Honestly…what planet do some people live on?
  20. Fanspeak’s mock draft machine (CBS Sports big board) must be broken, because this haul seems impossible to me. If it somehow did happen, I’d do naked cartwheels down Chippewa Street.
  21. Good post, I actually agree with your overall point. I’ve said all offseason that I’d like them to draft a WR in the first and to stack talent on offense. Still, it’s at least worth asking: which would have more likely allowed us to win last year’s Chiefs game rather than lose it? Defensive reinforcements or offensive reinforcements? An Edge and a corner or a wide receiver and a guard? Where was the level of play more deficient, WR or CB? That’s my main point. We didn’t lose the most important game of last season due to a lack of offensive talent. While I’m hoping for a shiny new WR, it’s easy to see how an elite corner would help push us past the Chiefs and the other potent AFC offenses more than another weapon for Josh.
  22. I HOPE Stevenson and/or Hodgins turn out to be good receivers. Hope is not a strategy. Get me a WR by round 4 and I'll be happy.
  23. Kind of a funny thing to say about a head coach who resides over a team that ranked 3rd and 2nd in offensive points per game the last two seasons, and who have one the pass happiest (particularly on 1st down and in neutral down and distance situations) , most modern, forward thinking offenses in the league. We're talking about the guy who has directly said "it's a quarterback driven league" and "I want to score as many points as possible, whatever it takes". Conversely, the Bills ranked 1st and 16th in defensive points per game allowed over the last two seasons. And while that #1 ranking was nice last year, we all saw that against good passing offenses led by good quarterbacks, they often folded like a cheap suit. I want to keep the offense potent and to add a couple WRs as much as the next guy, but I don't know how anyone could watch the Bills get bounced from the playoffs two years in a row due to giving up 35+ to the Chiefs and conclude that drafting a few defensive players will make them "shake their head". Offense is not what prevented the Bills from going to the Super Bowl last year. I mean, coaching was, if we're being honest. 13 seconds. We all know. But if we ARE gonna blame one side of the ball for that loss, it's damned sure the side that gave up 35+, not the side that scored at a record pace in the playoffs.
  24. Yeah. Making a simple brain fart name mistake and not having a lot of Twitter followers definitely disqualifies him from knowing anything.
  25. Too light in the britches. He's 6'4", 220 lbs. For comparison's sake, Tremaine Edmunds -- who many here are convinced is too slight of build to effectively play MLB -- is 6'5", 250 lbs.
