I'm genuinely curious: 1.) Why do you suppose republicans used the filibuster to kill a bipartisan, independent commission? Doesn't it seem like the events of January 6th were serious enough to warrant such an investigation? 2.) Do you think it's reasonable, after killing a bipartisan, independent commission, to complain that the commission wound up being not bipartisan or independent enough?

Yep. One lone lunatic being arrested is definitely the same as the leadership of an entire right wing, white supremacist, domestic terrorist group being charged with seditious conspiracy. Totally equivalent. We can play this game all day: https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2020-10-08/right-wing-plot-kidnap-michigan-whitmer Besides, I'm not posting the guy who wanted to kill Kavanaugh's good buddy's Tweets and presenting them as honest, good faith presentations of reality, the way that you're posting Proud Boy buddy Andy Ngo's Tweets. Ngo is a grifter and a liar. Always has been.

"Smearing the messenger" is necessary when "the messenger" is a notorious liar who has been proven to selectively edit his clips and distort reality to fit his propaganda narratives. Not that either of you clicked any of the links, but if you had, you would've seen that Andy Ngo pals around with the Patriot Prayer and the Proud Boys. Andy Ngo's Proud Boys buddies, as I'm sure you know, were recently charged with Seditious Conspiracy. Please let me know what leftists who are "just as bad" as the J6 domestic terrorists are currently facing chargers as serious as those being faced by the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers and their ilk. Please also feel free to post pictures and videos of leftist protestors erecting gallows outside government buildings and chanting "hang Mike Pence" or hunting the Speaker of the House through the halls of congress.

Friendly reminder: Andy Ngo is a notorious grifter and lying alt-right troll. https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-features/andy-ngo-right-wing-troll-antifa-877914/ https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/books/story/2021-02-08/andy-ngo-new-book-still-pretends-antifa-real-enemy https://www.salon.com/2019/08/28/right-wing-journalist-andy-ngo-outed-video-shows-him-hanging-out-with-far-right-hate-group/

I have two, which both occurred on a cross-country road trip I took with my best friend at age 18. 1) After several hours driving through hot, desolate Nevada, we saw a body of water off in the distance in the middle of the desert. We parked our truck and ran out to it in bare feet. As we stood on the large rocks on the water's edge, I looked down and noticed an extensive network of spider webs running between all the rocks. I picked up a stick and poked/shook a web, which caused a bunch of huge black widows -- identifiable by the telltale red hourglass shape on the abdomen -- to scurry out all around us. We were standing barefoot in a massive colony of black widows. We proceeded to bat dragonflies out of the air with the stick and put them in the webs so we could see the spiders feed, which we did, and which was admittedly an awesome sight. In retrospect, it was really stupid. While black widow bites are rarely fatal, they sure don't feel nice, and we were hours away from any kind of medical help. 2) On the California coast, somewhere near Carmel, we came upon a large group of wild elephant seals sleeping in a pile on the beach. We got out our guitars and sidled up about five feet from them and proceeded to smoke a joint and play a bunch of songs next to them. After a while, we got up the courage to walk up to the pile and touch the sleeping seals. Elephant seals are not cute, fuzzy little things, mind you. They're massive and, as I later learned on Discovery Channel, they're pretty damn dangerous. I distinctly remember my friend Dan laying his head on the chest of a sleeping seal, and I watched the seal's eye open and the creature lunge at my friend and try to bite him. He ducked out of the way and we ran like hell as this massive thing came loping after us. Yes, it was really stupid on our part, and yes, I regret what in retrospect was harassment of animals in their natural habitat. We were 18. We were dumb as hell. I have no defense.

As others have pointed out, we continue to be shallow at outside WR. If Diggs or Davis go down, we’ll be pushing a slot guy (McKenzie, Shakir) to the outside. At this point, I’m not sure much can be done about it. I’ve repeatedly suggested that TY Hilton would be a good addition. Not only would he provide outside depth, he would also add a downfield speed dimension that could help this offense. It would certainly seem that the Bills won’t be adding Hilton. Other than him, who’s still out there? Just cross your fingers on Diggs and Davis staying healthy, I guess.

While I agree that the Bills need a viable returner and that’s what this signing appears to be… The weird thing is that Austin hasn’t returned kicks since 2017. He only seems to be a punt returner these days. Signing someone to return kicks and punts makes sense to me. Signing someone who ONLY returns punts — and whose skill set is otherwise redundant with McKenzie’s — is a little strange.

Capitol One The Match (Allen Tattoo)
Logic replied to TheNorwoodStrangler's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m disappointed in Josh’s trash talk game so far. “Hey Tom, good shot, it’s got me feeling a little DEFLATED”. ”Nice pants, Tom…and here I thought Giselle wore the pants in the family”. “You’ve got a shot here, Aaron….but I know you don’t always like to get your shots”. See? Is that so hard? -
If anyone doesn’t have TNT and wants to watch this… Sling TV is having a half off promotion right now. It would be $17 for one month access, which will get you TNT, ESPN, and 30 other channels, plus 50 hours of DVR space and recording capability. I just signed up. I’ll cancel it after the first month, but what the hell…I’ve spent $17 on dumber things.

Hell of a midseason finale, for sure. Loved the mediation scene with Howard melting down in front of everyone. Then, of course, the big scene at the end. The second the candle flame flickered, I thought "oh *****....that's not good. Something's about to go down". Rhea Seehorn continues to deserve an Emmy. Can't wait to see how this thing wraps up.

Some teams did not have a “draftable” grade on Araiza for exactly this reason. 70 yard punts are fun to watch, but if the hang time sucks or they go flying through the end zone, they’re not great for practical purposes. There’s a reason that Araiza was the third punter drafted. Here’s hoping he can learn to put some hang time on his kicks. He’s like the punter version of Josh Allen: all the physical talent in the world, but needs to be coached up and get his mechanics right.

Allen tied for 5th lowest checkdown rate in NFL
Logic replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Fair enough. Sadly, there ARE QBs who are still playing it safe at that point. I’ll never forget Trent Edwards running out of bounds short of the sticks on 4th down at the end of a game the Bills were losing. I’m just glad we have a guy who loves to go deep and has to be convinced to check down, rather than the opposite. -

That IS the one actually! I described the play poorly. But Josh’s body language on that throw is funny. That Pierre fella that Tweeted has it right. Josh no likey the checkdown. “Favre says always go for the touchdown, coach.” -
I’ve thought about this. What if the Bills signed a QB accused by 23 different women of sexual assault? As much as it would pain me, I’d have to be out on the Bills for as long as he was employed by them. And even afterwards, depending on how it was dealt with (or not dealt with) by ownership, I might still be out. Bills Football is one of my absolute favorite things in life, but there’s no way that I could just ignore something that egregious and scummy and look the other way. While lots of Browns fans HAVE stepped away, many more seem to have made peace with it and now regularly defend the man. Disgusting.

Allen tied for 5th lowest checkdown rate in NFL

I always think back to one particular play — I wish I could remember what game it was — where Allen has forever in the pocket, so he looks, looks, looks downfield, and nothing is open, so he finally checks it down to Singletary…but the WAY he checks it down. He throws the ball incredibly hard and puts his whole body into it. His body language just screams “annoyed”. Like he seemed so angry that he had to check it down. If I can find the play, I’ll post it here. -
Matthew Fairburn off to cover the Pats (update - he’s back)
Logic replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
....Or maybe he and his wife (who is from Buffalo) missed living in Buffalo more than they thought they would and didn't want to be away from the area any longer. Fairburn's a good reporter. I always enjoyed his pieces and I never got an "anti-Allen" or "anti-Bills" whiff from him whatsoever. Glad he's back. To each their own. -
USFL overtime: Three rounds of 2pt conversions
Logic replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have never, ever liked overtime systems that stop the complete game itself from being played and turn to some kind of gimmick that only relies on one facet of said game. Soccer and hockey shootouts come to mind. The idea of two teams battling their guts out for the duration of an entire sporting contest, only to have the outcome be decided by a gimmick at the end like a shootout or a two-point-conversion showdown...I hate it. I may be in the minority on this. I don't know. The NFL has always said it wants its overtime to still be NFL football in its complete form, not a gimmick of some kind. I don't agree with the NFL on much, but on this issue, I agree with them completely. I'm in favor of keeping overtime almost entirely like they have it now, but mandating that each team go for two after any touchdown scored in overtime. This way, the thing won't go on forever. Even IF teams trade touchdowns back and forth, at some point, one of the two teams is going to fail to convert a 2 point conversion. I just don't like doing away with the kickoffs and the game between the 20s entirely and having it JUST be the conversions. Never will.- 35 replies

I think there’s a reasonably good chance that Trey McBride would’ve been our second round pick if he had been on the board at pick 57. I think they wanted to safeguard against Knox pricing himself out of their range. I think they’ll try hard to re-sign Knox, but won’t overpay for him if he demands too much. You simply can’t pay everyone. If it came down to, say, Oliver or Knox, I’m going with the d-lineman over the tight end every time.
