Clowney Trending for some reason.
Boatdrinks replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While those things do happen from time to time, I don’t believe Lawson or Jones fall into that category. They were simply overdrafted for their talent level. I’d agree it would take a draft pick for the Bills to do a trade ( short of Dawkins) , I don’t think Jones or Lawson have any trade value. -

Sure. HOU very interested in Bills disappointing draft picks, especially in return for Clowney. I mean, why wouldn’t they ? This makes too much sense not to happen. -
^This....always wonder why marginal players on this roster have any trade value. End thread.....

Offensive holding is a joke in the NFL the way it’s called for some teams and not others. Brad Allen and crew sure make a game boring. I’ll have to remember to place a bet on the opponent if I see the Bills draw Allen and crew in a given week. Can add him to John Parry for title of NFLs worst.

Ryan Allen should be signed, and fast. Still too many penalties. Holding on a fair catch ? Wtf

Group Chat: Your takes on the Offense tonight

The offense looks sloppy, and / consistency continuity will be an issue early. Could definitely improve if they can stay healthy. -

Today just shows you can’t get too high or too lo based off of preseason games. I still have no idea how this team will do when the regular season is upon us in just a couple of weeks. One can project that the offense will be better than last year, but still below average overall. The defense may be in the upper third or so in some categories but not so strong in others. I’d probably take the over on the Vegas line of 6.5 wins, but not by a lot. A serious injury at a key spot could put this team at 6 wins or fewer. Talent wise, I’d bet they end up around 8-8. -
This thread title should read something like “ McDermott most likely to be fired ?”.... Could be considered misleading to be fair.

Oh, I despise criminals and especially the sex offenders. But again, libs love trial lawyers etc. Your selective outrage is showing ... -
I’d go with Chik Fil A over Popeyes. Bojangles over either of them.

Pats release long time punter Ryan Allen

With six accrued seasons, I don’t believe Allen is subject to waivers and should be a FA. -
I’m aware the draft was more rounds in the past. Yes, these UDFAs would likely have been drafted if they played during that era. Those first and second round picks tend to stick on rosters as they are more talented and due to the teams investment in them. It’s still interesting, as it not only illustrates the slight difference in talent level of low round picks vs UDFA’s, but shows that teams are looking to stock rosters with cheaper players. Those veteran minimums are often a deciding factor, and undrafted players may have a better shot than many people realize.

Pats release long time punter Ryan Allen

Okay, but Allen is hardly old at 29, and New England doesn’t exactly burn Punters legs out. This seems like a cap move, and it’s one the Bills should take advantage of. Their punting game is highly suspect right now. -

Get ‘er done Beane. Our current P suck and can’t hold for kicks. -
Perhaps it’s interesting, but it’s also not that difficult to understand. Vick did heinous things, got caught and served time. He paid a big price financially for his transgressions. It seems the commissioner also steered him away from a potential starting role on his return , and into a more out of the limelight backup job. It’s all about public perception in the entertainment business. Americans tend to be a forgiving lot when it comes to legal problems. While Kaep did nothing criminal, he expressed strong opinions that were controversial, even dubious. His chosen time and place for his “ protest” could be ( and was) considered a slight against America by many. That’s not going to be forgotten or forgiven by those offended, as he hasn’t exactly repented or publicly changed his opinion. He doesn’t seem to concerned about money and only wants to be a starter. He may have changed his mind, but he did express that at one point. That’s just not a situation most teams and coaches want to be a part of. It’s not hard to figure out, and I don’t blame them.

Yep, that’s about it in a nutshell. Regardless of anyone’s “ support” for his questionable statements etc, that’s how it is. Amazing this choad can still generate pages upon pages of posts. It’s not happening, it’s not changing and we all know it. What’s the point ?

To be fair, the 2018 Bills defense was the #2 ranked defense using the metric of yards allowed. While the NFL ranks defenses this way, it’s not the most useful statistic on which to base an overall ranking of defense. The Bills were not nearly as effective in points allowed ( probably the most important job of a defense ) or at sacking QBs. The pass rush is fair to average, and could certainly use a boost. It would likely improve their ability to keep opponents out of the end zone.

hoping we go 4 and 0 in the preseason
Boatdrinks replied to Howard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’ll assume you’re agreeing with me , Howard ? I said preaseason records don’t matter much. They don’t, that’s a fact. However, I think the games themselves do matter. Many players need the live reps, and the coaches need to evaluate one on one performances without scheme to enhance them. The final score, and thusly the records are largely irrelevant and no inidicative of success or failure to come. There are many players rotating in and out that may not be on the opening day roster, so you can’t get too hung up on scores. But I’d rather win ‘em than lose ‘em. -

I don’t think preseason records matter much, and don’t care what the media thinks, but it’s always better to win. -

Center ( Morse injury) pass rush punter ( not good) kicking game ( holder issues?) -
10 observations Bills v. Panthers
Boatdrinks replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe this is an issue. The kicks have seemed off since they first switched holders last season. That was before the injury. They still don’t have a decent punter, and the chemistry seems off on the holds. I’d start getting Barkley some work as a holder and get this thing rectified. Then find a better punter as well. I know some want to attribute it to the injury, but things were off before that.
