  1. I would suggest the reason the rules change towards offense is that defenses have a way of figuring things out and shutting down offenses. The cool thing now are the Reid and McVay offenses. Watch Sunday. I'm not sure which, but I would bet one of these two teams will get shut down (relatively speaking) and lose to a defense that figures it out. Just saw that with the Ravens/Chargers game; the Ravens offense got completely flummoxed by Gus Bradley's scheme. This kind of stuff has always been a ping-pong balls, and those in charge of hiring NFL HCs tend to be like monkeys that are attracted to the shiny ball without thinking about anything else. The nature of the shiny ball always changes.
  2. In a few years when defenses figure out how to stop these offenses then everyone will want to hire young defensive geniuses.
  3. Copy cat league. Everyone thinks you have to hire a young OC regardless if they have any clue about being a HC.
  4. well done sir
  5. National holidays should be for things that are shared by the nation and based on its history, and that have had a lasting and meaningful impact on our history as a country. Here's the currently recognized federal holidays: New Year's Day MLK Day President's Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Columbus Day (not in all states) Veteran's Day Thanksgiving Christmas Of this list, the only thing that even remotely comes anywhere near a football game is New Year's Day. And I would argue New Year's Day should not be a federal (national) holiday). I am going to assume the OP posted this tongue in cheek. To actually think that a football game merits the recognition as a national holiday demeans the meaning of the phrase.
  6. No. It's entertainment, not something that involves the country as a whole. Those who like the movies could argue the day after the Oscars should be a holiday. It would never end.
  7. Tampa Bay may be in the mix if Arians decides he can't stomach Winston.
  8. Keep Lo and Philips. The rest? See ya.
  9. Not much else going on tonight. My D the Instagram expert thinks he got hacked. Whatever that means.
  10. We're trading him to Oakland so we can get the Mad Bomber back
  11. Very few offenses challenged him. Detroit was his only iffy game.
  12. Regarding Tre, was there any report about his concussion in the season ender? Hope he's OK.
  13. The overreactions here are priceless
  14. Tough spot for a rookie QB. That's why I think the Colts win this coming weekend. First playoff game for Mahomes and the Colts D is playing well. Plus KC's D is bad and Reid will do something dumb like he does routinely in playoff games.
  15. Regarding Lynch, not only was his pseudo criminal history a problem but when we drafted Spiller he and his agent went to Buddy and told him he would not sign any new contract with the Bills and wanted a trade. Given he was one more bad decision away from being suspended Buddy made the deal. The Bills front office back then had issues. Ralph was older and relied on guys he knew like Brandon and Marv, Littman had too much influence. I think those times are over with the Pegulas.
  16. Obviously worked out better for Philly in hindsight but you nail the history. Russ said they would be open to renegotiation but they wanted him to come to Buffalo in the offseason to have an injury examined. Crickets from Peters and his agent.
  17. Give me guys that are on the All Pro list every year. You see an offensive guy at # 9 great. But most estimates I've read say that the real top talent this year is on the D side.
  18. To say QBs don't gain ability to see plays with more experience, to say it isn't coachable is complete nonsense. Otherwise rookie QBs would never improvecandcwith the exception of maybe Marino name a great QB that was such in his rookie year and stayed there. In every single sport experience helps regardless of position, specific sport, whatever. It is beyond bizarre to suggest otherwise.
  19. If you watch his progression this year you can easily see he was doing better at going through his progressions. To say it's not coachable is laughable. How many rookie QBs in history play their first year and are expert in seeing the entire field, making reads, etc? Very few if any. You're expectations are completely over the top.
  20. Add some more talent. Adding a competent ST coach and an O line coach in synch with the OC should help. More experience for our young guys. All these are obvious of course, but what's needed for continued improvement.
  21. Dude, F Reight? Liquid lunch today??? I told friends here they would love having Frank as their HC. Doing a great job for them.
  22. Need to? No. But if given the right opportunity not a bad idea.
