In the era of things like the Internet, cell phones, drive through liquor stores, etc, etc where we expect anything we want to be at our fingertips right now, I suppose it's to be expected that a team would draft a QB top ten one year and give up on himafter one season. Rosen will be fine I think with time. But why not replace him with a midget QB that could run towards MLB whenever he wants?
-
You are the one who misquoted Joe B, and when shown that you ignore it because it doesn't fit your negative agenda. And I am so tired of your crap about people lowering the bar. It's crap, pure unadulterated crap. What did I say just this morning? That Beane and McD have the picks they want, the cap space they want, the QB and MLB they wanted, and now it is up to them. And if they don't succeed they'll be looking for jobs, AS IT SHOULD BE. I capitalize not to yell but provide emphasis, because you yet again apparently show a predilection to ignoring those things that don't fit your agenda. Two year ago they were in the playoffs, last year they got tools they felt they needed and dumped guys for cap space. That was their plan, they executed it, and now the pressure is on to continue executing their plan. That is not a free pass, that is not lowering the bar. That is how it is, not only with the Bills but pretty much any other professional sports enterprise you care to name. Your stuff is nonsense. All here know these guys have to succeed or they won't have jobs down the line. And I suspect no one knows that more than Beane and McDermott.

The person you are responding to has a history of slanting every single thing ever written or said about the team in a negative direction. Ignores anything that does not fit his negative agenda and hysterically inflates anything he or she can to try and make the team look bad. Really a sad thing.

Beane and McD have the picks they wanted and the cap space they wanted. They have the young QB they wanted and the young MLB they wanted. Now it's up to them to get more guys they feel will make them a long term championship contender. It's on them - they do their jobs right they'll own the town, and if not they'll get canned. As it should be. But why assume it will be the latter?
-
No they don't want talent. They want to win without talent. That's why they drafted guys like Allen and Edmunds, because they felt they had no talent. Why do you hate the Buffalo Bills? They made the playoffs two years ago. They realized to take the next step they had to get a better QB and drafted him. They knew they had to clear cap space to get better guys and did so. That was last year. This is this year. Why do you hate the Buffalo Bills, and why continue to comment on a team you hate?

"You have to score points to win in this league". But you insist on taking anything said by this organization and spin it into a negative. Hyperbolic lunacy.
-
At least. Also his last statement was you have to score points to win in this league. To get hyperbolic about his statement is, again, nitpicking nonsense.
-
Nitpicking nonsense. He is quoted as saying 21 a game minimum and that you have to have good offense to win in the league. Last year Beane said you have to have a star QB to win. These guys aren't idiots; they know the NFL and know you have to score points. Some fans on the other hand.....
-
And there you go. Nothing but negatives. Your act is old and tired.
-
Well, you could say they now have the QB and MLB for their future. You could say they made the playoffs for the first time in 17 years with this HC and GM. But of course you won't- it would interfere with your schtick. And Star did his job.
-
Star was fine. Murphy was questionable. Davis lost his mind. We all know your schtick by now. Beane and McD could cure cancer and you'd still come up with negatives.
-
No wasting dollars on questionable FA talent is what kills you. They know they need helpnup front and at WR. They will look to add guys there, but they won't overspend.

Some draft buzz on discussion of Titans/trade up...
oldmanfan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember the Winston/Mariotta draft; at least one person talked about trading an entire draft for Winston. And now look at them. Live and learn -
It seems odd they just promoted the one guy and now he's gone.
-
Just read Terry and Kim fired three execs including the COO and the marketing director. Any clue what's going on with that? Wonder if it's more sexual misconduct stuff.
-
Spend smartly, not wastefully.
-
Patience is a virtue. Not only are there FAs on the market but you're starting to see teams release guys for cap or other reasons. Beane has money to shop with; he'll be selective and not just spend to spend.
-
I think Beane and McD have a pretty well defined strategy. They want to build using the draft as their primary tool and use FA to get solid contributors. The guy from the Jets is a prime example, James if they get him from the Steelers. Solid reliable pickups that aren't big money but represent upgrades.

When Does Taxation Become Oppression?
oldmanfan replied to The_Dude's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The fundamental issue you have to answer related to this question is what is the role of the federal government in society? If you want a society where the people want a lot of government programs like universal heath care, etc, then you have to set tax rates at a point to provide the resources for such. If you don't want that, then you set them lower. I think federal tax rates should be low because I think the federal government should only do things that a federal government can do that local and state governments cannot. The federal government should do things like national defense, interstate commerce, etc. So set a low tax rate, and eliminate every single deduction such that people actually pay what they should to support those essential federal programs. I would then follow it down through both state and local levels; i.e. the state does what the state can only do vs local government, and so on. With again no deductions available. To me, for example, I would eliminate things like the Department of Education on a federal level; that is a state and really more local responsibility. I would rely on volunteer organizations like churches, etc. to help offset some of the perceived losses from limiting programs and resources. Should you not tax at all? No. Government has essential roles to play in society, and as citizens we have to pay for those. -
When you have to put the ball on an exact spot for a receiver to catch it vs a DB, it's not a game of yards. Words of wisdom from one who understands statistics. Enough though. When a diagram of throwing something shows you in black and white the difference between terms and you refuse to accept it then you just choose to be ignorant on the subject. Can't change that I guess

I don't think so. Regrettably I believe there are a few folks would would rather the team not succeed so they can brag about being right on a message board, or wallow in some kind of self-pity about the team. We all are critical from time to time but there are those who insist on only being negative. I don't get that, maybe you do. We clearly don't agree, I won't change your mind nor vice versa.
