Just last year they were top 10..1st in points and 8th in yards allowed.....I'm pretty sure 2003 and 2004 they were also a top defense....A lot of people forget also 2007...the year they went 16-0...I think their D was ranked 4th in the league...everyone was talking about the offense of course.....but that team was stacked on both side of the ball..... Hopefully, the nightmare is over soon.....

See post # 314....3rd line...... As far as no names......Ty Law, Revis, McCourthy, Browner, Butler, Asante Samuel.....Rodney Harrison......etc....that's just in the secondary.....Vince Wilfork, Richard Seymour, Bruschi, Vrabel, Ninkowicz, McGinest...Junior Seau.....Hightower...Collins.....we'll agree to disagree....... My main point is I think NE's defense is often underrated because we focus on Brady.....Belichick is rarely putting a bad defense on the field......

You did say it " never was impressive "....in the early SB teams, they had Ty Law , Otis Smith and Lawyer Milloy.......in the 2014 SB, they had Revis, Browner , McCourthy and a certain rookie named Butler..... Find me a defensive stat that's more important than pts allowed.... If anything, NE's defense is always underrated because everyone talks non stop about their offense.... In last year's SB, they held the historically good Atlanta offense to 21 pts.....I would say it was terrible.....and completely blank them for the last quarter and a half....

Belichick will turn him into a top CB...isn't it the way it goes for Bills fans ? We hate them because they've been kicking our asses for almost 20 years.....14 division titles in 16 years is why I hate them....11 AFC Championship games in 16 years is why I hate them.....7 SB appearances and 5 trophies is why I hate them....having to deal with the longest dynasty ever in the NFL is why I hate them...having to deal with the GOAT at QB and HC is why I hate them....the fact that after all those years, and winning 2 out the last 3 SBs, they are unanimously the favorite to win it all this year is why I hate them.... So...bottom line...I hate them....

The Dolphins at 7-9 sounds nice to me !....Colts and Bengals at 5-11...could it be the end of Marv Lewis and Chuck Pagano ? -

True...we'd be tied for 5th worse record.....plus, they have KC at 8-8....hummm....lol -
That would not be a fun season.....https://twitter.com/usatodaysports

The way things are done at OBD, I'm not sure we tag him....at the very least, the Bills will have to make a commitment ( Big $ ) after 2 years....the tag amount will be pretty high at that point.....2 years is not that far away.....if he's as good as Gilmore or even better, are the Bills just going to let him go or will they give him Gilmore $ ?.....
-
You're kidding right ?....He got a crap load of $ to play for NE...he has a very good chance of winning the SB this year.....I would say a 90% chance of making it to the AFCCG.....doesn't have to face Brady anymore.....he is now coached by Belichick.....Gilmore has won the freaking lottery..... he's probably thanking the football Gods it turned out the way it did....

Thanks Jay "Debbie Downer."

Unfortunately, this is spot on...we whine about those articles and call the writers idiots....but they've been correct for almost 2 decades.... -
Let's get ready... 2017 BOLD predictions
Iron Maiden replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NE wins the SB BUT Brady does retire and the NFL is finally back to normal.... Bills go 11-5, get the 5th seed.....and win their 1st rd game...... -
What's Your Definition of a Successful 2017 Bills Season
Iron Maiden replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we are being realistic, winning the division is likely unattainable this year....we are not taking it away from NE...they won the SB and actually got better in the off season. Our playoff hopes lies with the WC....can we make it ? yes, of course...but IMO, it won't happen this year....I want coach McD to use this year to mold the team to his liking...to install a philosophy that garners winning....I actually don't really care about the W-L record this year....I do want to see progress and intelligent football...I see us at 7-9, 8-8 or 9-7 this year.....2018 is when we break the drought.....this year is all about the new regime putting their stamp on the team...weed out the bad stuff and solidify the good stuff.... -
Stop with "Schedule is Hard"--Analytics says it BS
Iron Maiden replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with the overall message of your post...I do think however that Atlanta will beat the " SB runner up curse " and will be a very good team this year...I see them going 12-4 and IMO, they have a legit shot at going back to the big game...They addressed some of their defensive foes from last year and their offense is formidable.... -
We always mention how we want Brady to retire...Belichick needs to leave as well...He's already proclaimed to be the best HC currently and one of GOATs....now, they are claiming he's the best GM in the league today...this needs to stop....tired of that crap !

Have you ever rooted for the Pats to win a SuperBowl?
Iron Maiden replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True...I will say this..when NE is in the SB, the games are usually entertaining...I remember the one in 2003 vs Carolina...that was a heck of a game..Seatte, Atlanta of course...that 1st one vs the Rams...all very good games...the 2 vs the Giants were also entertaining...the only one I can think of that was not special was in 2004 when they beat the Eagles...or when they got destroyed by Chicago in the 80's... -

That drives me nuts with NE....Not only do they win all the time, but they win in some incredible, never seen before way that will be talked about for 100 years...it's really annoying... Having said that, I did root for them vs the Rams...I knew Belichick would come up with a plan to ground the greatest show on turf....and he did just that... -
Predictions for Next Year's Super Bowl?
Iron Maiden replied to TheFunPolice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with all of this...but they are still not in NE's category.....NE has a top 3 offense and a top 3 defense....add the best HC in the league....Raiders are not beating NE in the playoffs IMO...their defense is still not good enough.... -
Predictions for Next Year's Super Bowl?
Iron Maiden replied to TheFunPolice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't get the Raider love....I think there's a lot of wishful thinking...Ne's offense is at least as good if not better...and their defense is much better.....special teams are better and finally, their HC is better....the Raiders are good, but they are not in NE's category just yet....no one is in the AFC....if Brady stays up right this year, they will be in the SB again.... -
Darnold might stay in school for 2 more years
Iron Maiden replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Andrew Luck is not in the " elite " QB category yet...( Brady, Rodgers, Brees ) but he is absolutely in the "Very good " QB...He's in the top 10...if the Colts roster was any good, they would be in the playoffs regularly...He brought them to the playoffs 3 straight years....once in the AFCCG.....like any other teams in the AFC , they ran into NE..... Unlike a lot of teams, Indy does not have to worry about a QB for years....they just need to build around him.... -
We are all looking forward to see what Ragland does.....but to say that NFL RBs or slot WRs are intimidated by someone who hasn't played a single down in the league is a bit much....We need to give Reggie some time to adapt to the speed of the game 1st.....then, he can worry about scaring vets....do you really think L. Bell, D. Johnson, D. Martin, A. Peterson, D. Freeman etc...are afraid to run at him ? Unless you were thinking about college players...if it's the case, we'll need to see a lot more for it to transfer to the NFL...
