NEW Bills Stadium question
BillsFan4 replied to bills in oregon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Retractable roof would be my choice. I have read talk of the possibility of a new stadium doubling as a convention center for Buffalo (since a new one is needed anyway), which would make a lot of sense. If it a avenue that can be used for much more than just football, that helps make the tax payer money that will be used more palatable. But i I do think the cold, snowy, windy Buffalo weather can also be used to our advantage (especially with McDermott following Belichick's lead and making his team practice out in the elements here). So a retractable roof would be the best of both worlds IMO. -
McCarron and Peterman Live on FB Feed

That would be great if he was (a sleeper). I've been impressed with AJ. He really seems like a team first guy. I remember the first interview he gave here, he said that if Nate or a rookie won the starting job he would do everything he could to help them along. I thought that was really cool. -
I hate these vague social media posts.

Thanks for sharing. I thought they both said some good things. I will definitely be rooting for both AJ and Nate. Best case scenario for the Bills is one or both of these QBs showing that they are starting caliber. It would allow the Bills multiple options. Like for example if the guy we draft eventually wins the job, we have a good tradable asset. Ideally one of them wins the starting job this season and allows the rookie time to sit and learn. -
Thats fair. 2 and 3 are legitimate concerns. - Personally, I think his personality will change as he gets older. He reminds me a lot of a typical head strong 21yr old college kid right now. He's a smart kid. He will mature. Look at how much Jack Eichel has matured this season compared to the last 2. Its not like he has any reall off field issues. He just has a strong personality, which many QBs do. Tom Brady is legendary for it (and for being a giant A hole during practice and on the field). Aaron Rodgers has a very strong personality too. I don't see any reason to pass on one of the top QBs to hit the draft in years just because he has a few opinions I may or may not agree with... - Durability is my main concern with him too. But I think a lot of that can be mitigated with proper diet and training that he will receive in the NFL. He has the frame to be able to bulk up. I also think you can limit the risk by building a good o line in front of him. I think it's worth mentioning that Mayfield has had at least 3 concussions that I am aware of, and his style of play will make it harder to just build s good o line in front of him and limit that risk. He said, even after 2 concussions in 3 weeks, that he won't change his play style... - I'm not as worried about his lack of mobility (but I want/prefer a traditional pocket passer). He's good at stepping up and playing in the pocket and he's only going to get better at it as time goes on. He is a very efficient, accurate pocket QB. I see him being a guy who picks you apart from the pocket, like a Brady or Manning (I'm not at all saying he will be the next Brady or manning, just that he is similar to that style of traditional pocket QB). So I don't really need him to be mobile. Just keep learning & improving on how to play in the pocket. - I also think his decision making will get better in time, as far as knowing when to get rid of the ball. This is an issue with Darnold and Allen too. It's an issue with a lot of college QBs. The thing is, every QB in this draft has his worst. You are never going to get a perfect QB prospect. I just want to take a shot on one this year. The Bills have constantly passed on QBs over the years for one reason or another. I am not dead set on any QB in this draft. I'd prefer Darnold, Rosen or Mayfield. But I'd also be excited about Allen and even Rudolph. I'd definitely prefer one of the top 3, and if Rosen falls right into our lap there is no way that I am passing on him because of some perceived personality issues (which have been debunked time and again by many of his teammates). Give me any one of the top 3 (or 4) and I'm happy though!

Seems like the only real flaw people can find with Rosen are the things he's said, and the concussions. But even the people who knock Rosen for the things he's said will start by saying "he's the best passer in this draft" or something along those lines. He's a young kid. When I think another some of the stuff I used to say and do bad when I was his age... yeah. He's a smart kid. He will grow and mature. It would be so dumb (IMO) to pass on such a talented QB over some things he's said to the media.

Well, I guess we may as well write this season off now...

I have no idea if there is actually any truth to this article, but it was still a very interesting read. Tom Curran (Boston reporter) talks about the little coup that might be going on right now (with quotes from numerous Patriots players). He also claims that Tom Brady may be the one leading this minor revolt against Belichick, and discusses the huge significance of that. http://www.nbcsports.com/boston/patriots/complexity-rob-gronkowski-situation-reflects-bigger-issues-facing-new-england-patriots like I said, I have no idea if it's true but it was definitely an interesting read IMO. Im sure the Pats will get over it and continue their winning ways, but there's always that small hope, right!

Generational QB prospect? So in other words, he's a once in a generation QB and better than Luck, Wentz, Wilson, Newton, Stafford, Matt Ryan, or any other QB who has come out in the past 10 (ish) years...? He hasnt even played a single season in the NFL yet, and by all accounts he wouldn't even be one of the top 4 QBs this year. He also wasn't graded among the top 10 QBs in the past 3 drafts.

My favorite mock draft yet!!! OMG can you imagine getting Rosen at 12 AND Vander Esch at 22?! Plus keeping ALL our picks... sounds too good to be true! lol

Trade Benjamin and Shady if They Don't Get THEIR QB
BillsFan4 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was a great pass! But it was only 1... Tyrod didn't have all that much time with Benjamin between him joining the team late and Benjamin being injured, though. I guess I should have just said that throwing 50/50 balls to covered receivers was not by any means Tyrod' strong suit, and that is what Benjamin is probably best at. So it is very possible that he could be a better fit with McCarron (or another QB) than he would have been with Tyrod. I liked Tyrod as the Bills QB, just to be clear. I wasn't trying to trash him. -
Lol, I was thinking the same thing! He must be reading Icke's books or something. Going back years and years ago I had a few friends who used to REALLY be into David Icke's stuff and swore it was the truth. It was crazy when all 3 were together. They'd go off about that stuff for 15-30 minutes or sometimes an hour at a time. A lot of friends stopped hanging out with them quite as much... (especially all 3 as a group) lol.

Thanks for sharing. Good stuff. I have warmed up to Allen more as this offseason has went on, and actually liked him a lot last offseason. I remember a lot of discussion of him, Darnold and Rosen going 1, 2 ,3. He definitely seemed to regress this year, but as you said he lost talent around him (more than I realized). I still think his bust potential is higher than the other top 3 QBs in this draft. But I also think his ceiling could be the highest too. He just seems like a very boom or bust prospect to me. I would still prefer Darnold or Rosen but If we draft Allen I will definitely be on board. I will support him and give him every opportunity to prove he is our guy.

I'm not really locked on to any QB because I know damn well that I have zero control over who the Bills pick, and because we may not be able to get into a position to pick the QB I want anyway. I am really hoping for Darnold or Rosen. Those are definitely me top 2 choices. I think Rosen has the potential to be the best QB in this draft class. He is the most advanced of any QB in this draft on the field. I love his ability to read defenses and go through his progressions. I think both Darnold and Rosen can fit a wide variety of offense's, and I think both have the skill set to be franchise QBs if developed properly. But I would also be happy with Mayfield. I think he will require a bit more specific type of offense, but I think he also has a good shot at being a successful NFL QB. I love his passion and drive to be great. But I worry that he will focus too much on the people saying negative things about him. It will either drive him to be great or drive him crazy, not sure which... lol. I do worry a bit about both Rosen and Mayfield's ability to avoid injury since both has multiple concussions in college. If you build a strong o line araround Rosen, I think you help limit this risk. Mayfield's play style I think has the possibility to keep putting him at a bit more risk of injury though, and he was adamant even after 2 concussions in 3 weeks that he will Not change his play style. I am less sure on Allen, but he does somewhat intrigue me as I think his ceiling is quite high. I am just skeptical that he can reach it, and his accuracy issues scare me. Rudolph and Jackson I am not as high on, but Rudolph does also intrigue me a bit. He has great stats and has improved every year. But I'm not sure he will ever be a true franchise type QB. I see him more as a Dalton type - where he might end up being good enough to win with, but not really good enough to win it all. I haven't watched much film on Jackson, so I don't have a real strong opinion on him one way or another. Honestly, I am also intrigued by some of the 2nd tier QBs in this draft, like White, Lauletta and even Falk. All will need more development, but could turn out to be mid/late round gems. If we do miss out in the top 3-4 QBs in this draft class, I think an interesting idea would be to maybe grab 2 of the 2nd tier guys, since we have so many picks.
-
Actually, this scenario would be great IMO. If QBs only go 1 and 3, that leaves 2 of the top QBs on the board for us to trade up for. If Denver and Indy are unwilling to trade back out of the top 10, there is no other team from 6 to 10 that needs a QB. That would leave pick 7 as a perfect trade up option, and the Bucs GM has already said he is very interested in a trade down. So so we could get our QB ,u h cheaper than a trade to 2 or 4. We could get Rosen (if he fell past 3), who IMO is the best passer in this draft anyway, and only give up 12 and 53, or 12 and 22 at most. That would be a dream scenario for me! lol Exactly! I'd love it!

Trade Benjamin and Shady if They Don't Get THEIR QB
BillsFan4 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would Benjamin be the most useless #1 WR in the NFL? I actually think there there is a chance that AJ uses him more than Tyrod. Tyrod was very very unwilling to throw up 50/50 balls for Benjamin. I don't know that AJ has that same issue. With his little playntime in Cinci, he has shown a willingness to throw a pass and let his receiver go and get it.
