When a starting QB goes down with an injury. Especially one that may be career ending. I call it protecting the most valuable player on the team, protecting your investment as an owner IMO. Owners would jump at the chance IMO. Its good business...(protecting brains) -

It would be interesting If owners could offer a player bonus for wearing them. Win, win, win for all concerned. -

Lineman need to be wearing the Guardian cap more then any other player/position IMO. The constant clash of the heads is the most cumulative IMO. Big players, Guardian cap will be less noticeable, and what do they care. Wear the Guardian Cap. -

I'll save you!!! https://safetyairproducts.com/ Features controlled-rate impact deceleration, providing a comfortable and secure shock absorption system. ; ) -

The Guardian cap is doing something top of the line helmets alone can't do as well. Prevent concussions. Appearance is a huge obstacle to overcome. Helmet makers need to build the Guardian cap technology into the helmet IMO. A fellow patron and I in the Guardian Cap thread brought up the idea of all soft interior exterior resembling old style leather helmets. Einstein suggested we would be cracking skulls this way. I hate it when that happens... -

You can force a grown man to wear the Guardian cap If your McDaniel. -
Fair enough, I appreciate the input The simple answer for now, put a Guardian cap on the mess helmet designers have created. Get it on the heads of the players... https://safetyairproducts.com/ controlled-rate impact deceleration comfortable and secure shock absorption system Different application albeit... Note: A body in free fall hits the speed of approximately 120 mph in 3 to 5 seconds.

Take a rubber glove and fill it with air. Then squeeze, push, or hit with a hammer. The air gets pushed into other fingers or parts of the glove.

Penalty can be called both ways. The whole problem here is for defenders the head is in between two tackling arms. For ball carriers any forward lean and your head is going to be the 1st part of your body that makes contact in many instances IMO.

I never said exterior helmet padding used air displacement. My idea on a better helmet does by allowing the compressed air that serves as light weight padding to be displaced on impact to other sections of the helmet. One air compartment with flexible expandable capabilities.
-
Why do you think padding on the exterior of the helmet is decreasing the chance of concussion? X 2 when two helmets collide.
-
Air displacement. Decreasing the amount of energy created on impact is a good start don't you think?

The hard shelled exterior of helmets is causing as many injuries as it prevents. It caused the NFL to make changes in how a defender can tackle and has now become next to impossible on some plays. Nobody wants old leather helmets. The soft exterior is what makes the leather helmets more safe for the player getting hit by it. So you modify what you have and expand upon why it works. Modern day helmets are a joke without the Guardian cap. All of them...

Speaking of Hill, after watching the interview Thursday night and how Tyreek responded to the traffic stop with millions watching. I came away from the interview having found a whole new love and respect for the man we call the cheetah. (Bills caged him) Our country needs more of this...

I think what topped it all for me was the fact that Josh Allen barely had to lift an injured finger for the Bills to totally dominate the opposition. Tip of the iceberg for the rest of the NFL.

This way a very good post for many reasons IMO. I wanted to highlight the opinion you have on old leather helmets. Keep this topic current. TSW was having discussions here on exterior helmet padding over a decade ago. While the idea of wearing such an old and outdated head protection may appear like taking a step backward from modern day helmets worn in the NFL. From an overall injury standpoint it would not surprise me If a modern version of a soft interior exterior head protection performs better then top of the line helmets being used now. Air filled head protection was one of my initial thoughts in earlier discussion. Very light weight and able to absorb and disperse the impact in a way that counters any inner movement of the brain. Shield the face in a way that allows frontal impact to also be absorbed through the head protection. Down sizing the bulky look of the Guardian cap and making it more attractive would go a long way when it comes to player voluntary participation in a new form of head protection IMO. Clear, air filled padding perhaps.

Myself personally, the Guardian cap style exterior makes every safety helmet known to mankind a much safer form of protection including and especially motorcycle helmets IMO. It helps absorb the shock on impact. Not after a hard plastic shell does just the opposite. We may not see it yet, but hopefully soon. Construction hard hats, everything, pad the exterior, good grief, its not rocket science right?

Big fan, always have been. I just want Tua to have a safe, normal life now. Franchise QB is the most valuable and the most vulnerable to head injury in my humble opinion. Lead the charge Josh!!! Embrace the ugly!!!

Babich gets constant help from McD, Joe Brady, not so much If any, and is probably being considered by other teams as we speak.

Optional? the proof is in the pudding. Make it mandatory or the league may get sued somewhere down the line in my humble opinion. (I'm no lawyer) At the very least make it mandatory for players with a history of suffering one or more concussions in the game of football. This whole problem with defenders not able to make a tackle because a players head is in between two tackling arms probably never happens If the Guardian cap was being utilized IMO.

absolutely, with the odds of it ever even happening again extremely slim. Game of football is more prepared now...
