  1. Historically they are tough at home .. Minnesota typically has to win the bulk of their home games to have a solid Big ten season They have a fantastic running back coming back and a three or four starters on the offensive line I think They do have a brand new quarterback and the Walter Payton award winner from the FCS.. obviously takes a lot of talent to do that but going to your first true FBS football game might bring some nerves I definitely would probably take the bulls with the points on the spread and yes I do think there is a chance for an upset Probably a 20% chance but that's better than nothing
  2. Malachi Ervin is a 4* end! I really like the 25 class coming in too... Lembo is a real players coach !
  3. Stevie Johnson did a Buffalo Bills piece of artwork for charity that got auctioned And my friend won it ... This was years and years ago it's actually pretty nice and it's hand signed
  4. Nobody would ever say he was a top 10 quarterback during his time But he's certainly was good enough to always be a starter on one of 32 NFL teams which doesn't happen often.. because top 10 guys don't leave teams and the bottom guys get replaced and don't get another shot Guys like Mitch trubisky with much more of a pedigree are never going to start 15 more games in their NFL career.. but fitz was good enough to start everywhere he went.. guys like Justin Fields probably have one more year starting and then they'll never be given that chance again.. Fitz had a decade of chances That alone shows underrated even if he wasn't a top 10 guy
  5. There is not a quarterback in the world who has 30,000 yards and 200 touchdowns that is below average lol What he wasn't was a top tier starter.. he absolutely was a low-tier bridge starting quarterback his entire career Which is better than 70% of the NFL... 90 quarterbacks on NFL rosters there's about 22-24 worth a damn who you can start and get some wins Ryan Fitzpatrick was always at the bottom of that 24 but he was always a legitimate bridge starter.. not a throwaway, not a bottom feeder Ryan Fitzpatrick was always a serviceable bridge starter... Every team he went to he always went to the top of the depth chart which is something most NFL quarterbacks cannot say He literally climbed to the top of the depth chart for like four or five NFL teams which is the opposite of not good... He wasn't a game changer which would be correct He was serviceable I would take him over a guy like Anthony Richardson if I needed to win a football game.. Anthony Richardson went top five.. I would take him over a guy like Mitch trubisky who went top five There is a distinction between being an upper tier starter and even being average quality... Even bad teams need a quarterback.. Ryan Fitzpatrick was always the starting quarterback on bad teams typically.. he had maybe one team ever that had playoff aspirations and he had a great season with the Jets and threw an interception on his last drive in Buffalo It doesn't erase his good season
  6. You basically hit the nail on the head He was a good quarterback who typically needed a lead at the end of the game If you got the ball back down six with a minute and a half left that's when some of his limitations would come through.. he had some game-winning drives but the majority of times the limitations would show up in that last minute and a half in crunch time situation when the speed is even faster
  7. I was told he could not execute shanahan's offense on schedule consistently and his injury set him back He's the type of guy where every single thing is drawn up.. three step drop back foot hits balls out If you can't do that consistently you're not his quarterback He was hoping lance would be able to pick up all the West Coast stuff.. while keeping his playmaking ability but it never came to fruition
  8. well he was a gunslinger in the mold of Brett favre who didn't have the same arm talent that's why he's not a Hall of famer I was at that game versus the Jets at home when they needed to beat us to get into the playoffs.. and at the tailgate I was telling all the Jets fans I love Ryan Fitzpatrick but you're going to get Ryan Fitz tragic at the end of the game And low and behold He still was a good quarterback he just didn't have the elite stuff and was too aggressive for his arm strength
  9. Yes that is basically what I was getting at Think of football as a language... But the coaches speak three distinct languages Compare that to the Indo-European branch of language... And you have the romance branch, the Germanic branch, and the Hellenic branch They all speak European but they're all different That's West Coast coryell and EP verbiage Now there are some people that run a predominantly West Coast system with the verbiage But even guys like Kyle shanahan incorporate elements of other offenses in his scheme.. it's 2025 football's a hundred years old there's really nothing that has been ran that has not
  10. Yes he's talking about his release which was super unorthodox I said a long time ago when he played that it was like a basketballer Who was just crossing you up and going to open space Still a very high compliment 30,000 passing yards and over 200 touchdowns show Ryan Fitzpatrick is severely underrated He was always one of the better players on bad teams.. never the weak link on a good one
  11. So let's just go back to f-right 72 ghost tosser concept which I diagrammed the play To simplify this exercise we're going to act like we are facing a cover three So ghost concept would be the primary read side against a cover 3... Specifically the flat then the out route But let's say Josh Allen goes up to the line... And this time on the tosser side he notices a Blitzer off the edge... At the line Josh could just do something as simple as point to the area or the receiver.. and he knows his backside slant is now hot Stuff that they've worked back through minicamp to where it's just second nature.. a hand gesture a head nod.. Josh could just turn his third option to the one at the line of scrimmage based on what he sees
  12. I think Joe Brady's approach of everybody eats can be handled a couple ways But the easiest way in offensive coordinator can get everybody to eat is by calling specific plays for specific people If you want the defense to have to defend everybody the first couple drives of the game you might want to call specific plays that are going to get the ball in four different people's hands You have play calls that are longer developing plays with not as defined reads... And then you have some simpler plays with very defined reads Like some quick RPO stuff If Brady comes out giving Josh some plays with quick defined reads where he only has two reads... RPO quick hitch... He can hand it off , or if the corner is playing 8 yd off you can throw the hitch Then he does a bubble screen the next play... Then five wide quarterback draw The next plan first down he goes back to the RPO, but instead of the quick hitch.. backside slant Those are some simple offensive play calls that are pretty defined where you can get the ball into multiple people's hands right out of the play call It's on Joe Brady to keep a good rhythm with the offense .. when a quarterback gets shaky which even the best do .. it's on the play caller to settle him down and get him back into a groove
  13. Coryell would be the verbage system with Fairchild too As I said earlier back in the day West Coast EP and coryell were offensive styles but also verbiage systems Coryell was like the west coast in that the call had a formation, number and a few tags... But not as long As the NFL became more modern.. and coaches worked with other coaches.. a lot of the plays in the systems have been condensed leaving the verbiage system the biggest difference somebody like Sean Payton his offense is basically a conglomerate of coryell and West Coast concepts from back in the day with a modern spread touch No problem man
  14. @Beck Water I have not checked but I think fitz may have played in a true West Coast system his first couple years in St Louis Didn't really play much but I think he was in one early But the west coast verbiage system is very distinct... And it's a mouthful... A college kid who has been reading plays off of big boards on the sideline for years has a super hard time adjusting to something like that... I think Josh being in the EP has really helped them because he doesn't have to do as much thinking as say Jon gruden quarterback
  15. He didn't play under a traditional full West Coast system But as I said originally West Coast is a verbage system and a style of offense Chan gailey preferred EP verbage but instilled a lot of spread West Coast elements to his offense... The quick passing game was an extension of the run.. the screen game was an extension of the run .. he like a zone system like WC... He did not use West Coast verbage though he was one of the more modern offensive coordinators to take principles of the West Coast offense without the verbiage, and mold it into an EP offense But it had a lot of West Coast principles, besides the verbiage Most modern offenses have West Coast principles built into them now.. but not all of them have the verbage which is specifically what I was talking about in this thread The heavy verbiage of the West Coast offense is tough even on professional players and they have a lot to think about.. the EP verbiage simplifies everything to a rudimentary point So gailey had EP verbiage, and a modern offense that was modeled after West Coast coryell spread everything.. I don't think you could actually put a name on his offensive style... he really was a very good offensive coordinator
  16. Simple verbiage... With mirrored play calls allow streamline play calling through all your personal groupings We can run this out of 11 or 12 personnel streamlessly
  17. So in an 11 personnel Ghost tosser is going to tell both sides of pass catchers their route combination F right 72 Ghost tosser would refer to the flanker right... Ghost would be their route combination So ghost is going to tell the people on the right side of the formation in 11 personnel their route combination Flanker , 9 route... Y runs out... Running back flat Tosser refers to the backside.. x and z dual backside slants But you can flip that to f left 73 ghost tosser in any personnel
  18. A system like the west coast is heavy heavy verbiage 10 15 20 + word play calls The EP condenses the play called to 5 6 7 word calls If Josh says ghost tosser... It means the same thing whether they're in 11 personnel or 12 or 21 All the wide receivers whether they're in the slot or at the x know the route combinations just by ghost tosser ... it's always the same route combinations In the West Coast system.. that route combination out of those three different personnel's are going to have massive different calls... It condenses plays between your personnel groupings So the bills can run the same route concept out of five different looks... Instead of wide receivers listening to 20 words for their role.. something as simple as ghost tosser tells all the pass catchers what they need to do
  19. His body really didn't change that much He certainly has not added 15 lb... What he did is Master his pad level He is playing with supreme pad level and leverage now which he didn't Year One When his pad level was too high he was not as powerful as a runner.. now he plays with great leverage which has increased his running power and pop
  20. I went to canisius but maryvale was my early school And yea last 20 years it was maryvale Central... But back in the day it was Central JFK
  21. Awards are slightly subjective tho Josh Allen has had more touchdowns than the MVP probably three out of the five years.. it's not like he was pedestrian with 20 touchdowns He has been playing at an MVP level five straight years.. whether it ended up in one all pro or 3 He could have three MVPs and three all pros But the voters love Lamar Jackson who went to a better team and that is a fact Lamar Jackson inherited a better team right off the bat than Josh Allen, and still gets all the love like he turned around a franchise like Josh Allen He's a tremendous player, I would not take Lamar Jackson over Jack Allen if I had no bias
  22. Cheektowaga Central God I hate the warriors
  23. If Terrell Davis got in... I think Josh Allen's last 5 years stint could also get him in even if it took multiple tries on the ballot Now I want him here for another decade so he wins a whole bunch of games and hopefully a super bowl or two
  24. That's not the criteria for Hall of Fame tho buddy I watched Jim Kelly with my own eyes for years and he certainly is a Hall of Fame player but modern statistics leaves him at the bottom... he doesn't have an MVP... He's a one-time All-Pro Warren Moon never All prod once... and he is in the Hall of Fame and he is worthy I'd be willing to bet as much money as you're willing to wager that Josh Allen will wind up in the Hall of Fame
  25. Josh Allen has more passing touchdowns.. more Rushing touchdowns , more passing yards, more playoff wins, and better playoff stats then Lamar Jackson and he also has an MVP I don't care if opinion voters voted him MVP more than Josh because Josh could be a three-time MVP right now Josh Allen scores more points than Lamar Jackson and is a better postseason quarterback.. if you think Lamar is in Josh Allen is in Josh also went to a much worse franchise than the Baltimore Ravens and turned them around.. Lamar Jackson went to one of the most steadfast franchises of the last 25 years Yeah Josh Allen is ahead of Lamar Jackson regardless of AP awards
