Were We Running Into a Stacked Box?
Buffalo716 replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
Because most teams come out seven or six players in the box for bills still Dolphins might have flipped it up and the players just didn't execute They were running three defensive tackles...Don't see a lot So it seems more like an execution thing.. dolphins gave them a wrinkle that they didn't properly game plan for , struggled adjusting in game Bills have only faced a stacked box on less than like 5% of carries... So the sample size isn't big... The dolphins looks probably disrupted their blocking assignments not to mention cook was slightly dinged up in the Chiefs game History says you can't keep eight in the box against Josh Allen even with these wide receivers.. and all the dolphins looks are on tape.. so they'll know how to block a 3DT 8 man look better now But history also says a running back like cook will break a big one with eight in the box sooner than later which just didn't happen against dolphins His yards per carry will go down.. but his ability to break the long one goes up in that situation.. he's a solid five six yards A carry against a standard or lightbox but it's harder to break off that 50 yarder It's always a chess match... There is a counter to the dolphins strategy James Cook is facing an average heavier box per touch than Jonathan Taylor according to advanced metrics this season... 8 man box is something the bills running game can improve blocking But they have the pieces to hit a homerun if blocked correctly -

An elite running game doesn't get worried about a stacked box It gets drawn up, you block it correctly, execute and it's successful James Cook has had lots of success on eight man boxes in his career.. especially the last two seasons Most of your long touchdowns happen on a stack box.. because you only need to make one person Miss if you get to the second level That shows they were not executing their blocking assignments not anything the dolphins did.. because as I said most top pro bowl running backs salivate at the thought of a stacked box when you're in the groove Because they trust their vision and running instincts.. you hit the hole hard you just need one guy to beat.. everybody from Adrian Peterson to Chris Johnson thrived in that spot I'm pretty sure his long 60-yard rushing touchdown earlier was on an eight-man box also It seems the bills had a problem blocking it this week -

Realistically a stacked box hampers weak running games and weaker running backs I've never met a big time running back who did not salivate at the thought of an eight-man box... Adrian Peterson Derrick Henry Barry Sanders Marshall faulk... Chris Johnson... All killed eight man boxes It hampers indecisive runners.. decisive runners like cook typically hit a hole with a full head of steam... Stack box means if you reach the second level you need to make one guy Miss and you're off to the races Most of the 50 60 70-yard rushing touchdowns happen on stacked boxes.. two high safety with a light box will allow for 5 6 7 yards at a whack.. but makes it tougher too break that big one Cook has elite vision and great speed.. a stack box means he's one hard hit hole away from breaking a big one -
Who do we want, who do we need as our next HC and, or GM?
Buffalo716 replied to jaybeezee's topic in The Stadium Wall
If that was true there would be no reason for Brandon Bean Bill belichick was openly judge jury executioner had control of everything That is not Sean McDermott's place.. McDermott might have full control of the players on the team and the coaches.. and his fingerprints are all over the team But Brandon Bean is absolutely making the selections.. there would be no point in paying him millions of dollars if he wasn't picking the people We also basically didn't have a GM when we hired McDermott.. Whaley was going to be out the door so yeah of course McDermott had a little bit more say in that draft And it was probably the best draft we've had.. but they don't hire Brandon just so McDermott can do everything Doesn't have the time to scout college players full-time enough to understand who's the gem and who's the Bust -

Considering we still have a GM and we might have the same one in September it's hard to know who's going to be available when or if our job opens up I do know that I would prefer somebody who has considerable scouting experience if it does open... More than just front office experience -

Buddy was 70 years old lol Give me a 45-year-old GM who's been scouting for 15 years on the road... You hire a scout not an analytical guy -

I'm not the person who thinks everything in the Eagles organizational turn to gold lol We get a new general manager we need a scout at the head.. not another Beane analytics type I want a guy with 15 years professional scouting -
Because the goal of the team is to win And this team if they just dropped Josh back 45 times a game Josh would be on IR We need a healthy balance attack to win which is always the goal Regardless of the team assembled.. the goal once the season starts is to win the game The best way for this team to win is to hand it off to James Cook and then let Josh be Josh situationally.. hopefully this does not continue past this year But that is the best route to winning right now

That's true but we are talking about how disheveled the offense looks If those looks are available at points during the game Josh needs to take them... And he has passed up open stuff and held the ball at points this year You are correct about if he kept his eyes downfield though ... This offense is just missing rhythm right now Brady needs to help his best player out more... Does Brady think some of this effort level is okay? He should have Josh Allen's back
-
If they're not looking back for the ball that's technically on then there were two crossers that were NFL open ... And frame by frame there is a point where at least one is looking Literally college open and NFL open are completely different animals the windows are three times smaller There were two guys running open for NFL standards .. I'd rather see him rip the ball and hit them in the face and teach them a lesson
-
Tom Brady had zero problem screaming at players on the sideline who were not pulling their 1/11 That's my point This team literally prides itself on doing your job.. 1/11 If you're not pulling that Tom Brady 100% would rip into your ass.. so would Peyton Manning .. Peyton ripped into all pros.. Tom would scream at coaches Tom Brady during his six Super bowl runs with the Patriots was constantly screaming at other players and other coaches... Josh is the most talented player in the NFL and my favorite we don't see that Tom held players accountable on game day
-
Yeah and I'm not the first or only one here to ever say that the Buffalo Bills wake up more for Big Time games There's like four or five years of history of showing us playing down to opponents The Bills play up to good teams and have played down too bad teams.. people here have even spoken about that Not blaming Josh Allen 100%.. but as the best player in the league he has earned the right to hold people accountable to a higher standard.. his standard
-
Considering Tom Brady won a Super bowl a couple years ago and he's considered the best ever You could say it's not effective but it all depends where it's coming from.. if you're screaming at a dude because he dropped the pass that's not effective If you're screaming at a guy because his effort level is not acceptable for your team standard that is 100% in reason for any team captain That's not disputable in my book.. if it's an effort thing as a team captain you are allowed to lay into a player Not Pat them on the back and say it's okay Maybe most of these quarterbacks today are not as good as Tom Brady and Peyton Manning as I always have said Patrick mahomes is not close to either of those two
-
Notice I said entire team I did not just say Josh Allen.. but Josh Allen is the pulse of the Buffalo Bills Why do people dispute that... He is the face of the Buffalo Bills he is the captain this is his 9th year this is his team
-
Looks like a scarecrow
-
I understand everything you're saying but ultimate company man's don't win Super bowls If Josh Allen is the greatest ever like we fought he needs to be able to hold people accountable These are not high school players these are professional athletes in a league that is a privilege not a right He has earned the right to hold people accountable.. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady would lay into future Hall of famers they had no problem Josh needs to learn it's okay to do that if the circumstances validate
-
Considering Peyton Manning had no problem ripping into players this is something Josh needs to do if there is a problem Can't always be everybody's friend he is here to lead an NFL franchise Sometimes he needs to be tough... He's holding that back he needs to get that edge He has earned the right to hold players accountable

Considering for 60 years the quarterbacks get the glory they get the criticism Josh is the leader of this team he is the one who gets them up for games and they certainly did care more about the Chiefs than they did about the dolphins.. I don't care what anybody says their play shows that This team has a history of playing down for a half or even three quarters to inferior opponents... If you read what I say and you take that as Josh as the problem I don't know what to tell.. but the focus the entire week of game planning does all start with the quarterback.. Josh might have the most talent in the NFL he is not perfect.. seriously he's my favorite player and I've had his back here more than any player ever he's still not perfect when Josh is locked in the entire team is locked in.. this board has been calling Josh the dolphin's Daddy for years I don't think the bills and Josh Allen woke up for the dolphins as much as the Chiefs That's what happens in a 17 game schedule Tom Brady and Peyton Manning had no problem lighting in the teammates even future Hall of Fame teammates... Josh is more of a quiet leader he leads by example Josh is filming all these skits with Peyton Manning I'm surprised Peyton Manning didn't tell him it's okay to lay into your teammates.. that's what this team needs It needs Josh to take the bull by the horns and not be afraid to chew people out.. he's been the consummate professional he has earned the right to keep people accountable

Bills fans, a percentage of them.. don't think we should be allowed to have nice things They have became cynical
