Completion percentage is based on thrown balls caught, it is not a good measurement of accuracy. What percentage of Completions would Rosen had if he played in the wind and cold with the same talent Allen had. Allen had a 68% completion rate in the senior bowl when he played with more talented team.

Who mentioned completion percentage? His inaccuracy shows up on the tape, not in the stats. He will probably never be a precise QB. That doesn't mean he can't be good. Cam Newton had an MVP season throwing to a bunch of nobodies. So the hope is that Allen can get to that level and then, unlike Cam, sustain it. He's a lot smarter than Cam - 37 wonderlic score for Allen vs 21 for Cam - so that gives me hope he'll do what the coaches ask him and we will make his style work.

After watching some tape on Allen since he was drafted (mea culpa -- I watched nary a bit on any QB before the draft) I have come around to the conclusion that he is not, per se, "inaccurate."

The film I've watched since we drafted him confirms what I saw before we drafted him - he has area code accuracy too often. On a lot of throws he'll get the ball somewhere in the vicinity of his receiver but it isn't precise ball placement that maximizes YAC. That worries me more than anything else because I don't think that can be improved. I think precise ball placement is more or less a natural ability. That's where Chris is coming from in this article, we have to accept that Allen's ball placement will not always be precise, but he will be able to make certain throws that no other QB can make. Our offense will need to be designed around this fundamental limit to his game.

    Drool worthy throw!

He is more accurate on throws like this than he is on screens. Our offense will need to be built on big plays downfield.

I think she was a waitress once.

Shes plenty qualified to run the Bills franchise.

Hell, she’s plenty qualified to run the country.

Right, not a single successful person ever had a job as a waiter. If you're not successful by the age of 30 you've hit your peak, as everyone knows.

  4. The last 2 paragraphs make a lot of sense:

Allen almost assuredly won't be a 60 percent (or higher) passer in the NFL. The Bills shouldn't try to make him into one. They should accept he's going to turn the ball over and miss open targets at higher-than-league-average rates due to his inherent flaws.

But he'll also make throws of which very few quarterbacks are capable and will significantly threaten defenses deep with his arm. Coupled with a steady dose of the ground game and a strong defense -- two other Carolina staples -- Buffalo can get the most out of Allen and his high variance.

Basically just take a lot of shots past the 1st down line and hope his abilities there make up for his shortcomings on quick passes.

I'm glad someone finally saw the putz for what he is.

Seems to me it's pretty obvious what was probably happening.  As the Bills were moving high priced and highly drafted players Russ was probably running around behind the scenes to the Pegulas telling them how bad a marketing decision this was going to be.  His "boy" Sammy Watkins got traded!

Russ was always about the flash, not the substance.  He hated the process.

This is the most likely scenario. Maybe he hated the Josh Allen pick too, couldn't imagine trying to sell the fanbase on him.

they “demand” players to be All Pro in their Rookie season. It generally takes time.!

Did someone in this thread demand Zay Jones be an all pro in his rookie season? I didn't see that. I think even an average rookie season would have been fine. If he had shown a single decent trait, that would have been a sign for hope. We go through this every year. Someone has an awful rookie season, everyone pretends rookies always suck, and they're off the team within 3 years.

The Bills and Broncos worked out a trade when Cleveland was on the clock for their first pick, that much I know. Would have been for both firsts and a second i believe. When Chubb was left, the Broncos bailed and we panicked because no one wanted to trade. Luckily, the Bucs changed their minds.

I'm glad it worked out that way. If we had come out of the 1st round with just Allen it would have been hard to stomach. Getting Edmunds softened the blow for me.

Zay had real problems tracking the ball in the air on passes downfield. Just godawful.

People overstate how good he was in college. Most of his production came on screens and quick short passes. I don't think he had to track the ball much at ECU. It's a real concern.

I remember when it used to take 2 - 3 years for a WR to adjust to the NFL..now they have to be good day 1....didnt Jones have a wrist problem all season also??..

I didn't expect him to be great. But he had a historically bad season by a lot of metrics. Not just below average, historically bad. Maybe he'll bounce back but I wouldn't count on it.

  10. Everyone seems to think Rosen's attitude was the reason he fell. I don't think that was it. Maybe for the Browns it was, they are the Browns after all. Rosen's bigger problem is that he is a statue in the pocket. He has zero mobility, he can't shake off sacks, and he can't throw on the run. In the modern NFL you need those skills to survive. He's coming off 2 concussions and a shoulder injury, and he can't escape pressure at all. That immediately worries me a lot more than a picture he took in a hot tub.

I could see Rosen being deadly if he has an offensive line like the Raiders or Cowboys have. But put him behind the Bills line and he would get annihilated. McDermott knows how hard it is to build and maintain a good offensive line these days. I'm sure that was a major reason they chose Allen instead. They see him as a Newton/Wentz type that will shake off defenders and make plays happen out of nothing. That will never be Rosen's game.

Man, can he sling it. I know of course he needs to be accurate. But what an arm. I think he's accurate enough and it's mostly the breakdown of mechanics.

By my eyes he is more accurate when he throws 10+ yard passes than when he throws swing passes. When he has to use his full arm strength he is pretty accurate, but his touch passes are a major work in progress. Corner and seam routes should be a substantial portion of our passing offense. I would be scared to call too many screens this year. In general I see too much area code accuracy on the tape but I can't say if it's because of mechanics or just a natural deficiency he has. Hopefully mechanical issues that can be fixed.

Women in the office don't want to do their work in peace, they form cliques and get all catty with each other, and that usually revolves around who gets the attention from the male coworkers.  Their main concerns are what to wear and who will notice it.

Yikes. I'm going to guess you're in high school. You clearly have never worked in an office. Every work place has its share of !@#$s, men and women alike. But most people keep their heads down and do their work, and unless you're a prick everyone will mostly be friendly with you. And office relationships are fine. It isn't hard to see where the line is and not cross it. Russ obviously crossed the line many times and it finally caught up with him.
