He really blossomed at Wisconsin as a Senior before he was drafted.

Yeah but that's kind of the point. He didn't become 15% more accurate when he transferred, he just went to a better school. If he had stayed at NC State and had a 57% completion rate his senior year he wouldn't have gone on to have a different NFL career. If you want to know how accurate a QB is you need to watch the tape.

I'd also like to point out that Allen's receivers only dropped 4.8% of their passes and weren't as bad as some people make them out to be.

One thing I learned when I dove into his film is that drops were NOT the problem with his surrounding talent. The problem was receivers not getting open. He had a ton of tight window throws. A bunch of the completions he had on deep boundary throws were only caught because of perfect velocity and ball placement. A very small percentage of his TDs came on YAC. He was the only bright spot on offense in 2017.

Josh Allen was under center well over 40% of the time.

very well versed in that , which is huge for the NFL game. His play action under center is already pretty good and that will be huge with McCoy in the backfield

Right, all Allen should be working on is his footwork and mechanics. He's a smart kid coming from a pro style system, the play book will come easy to him. It's all about muscle memory at this point. I'm getting more optimistic he can be a special QB.

I realize this is a make-fun-of-Sam-Darnold thread, but can I just say how happy I am that in most of the Josh Allen highlights I've seen he is playing UNDER CENTER?  At least we won't have to worry about that part of his transition to NFL football.

This is something that helped me come around on him. Like Pat Mahomes played exclusively in a spread system at Texas Tech and he had to learn from scratch how to take snaps from under center. Allen is used to that and reading the whole field.

  5. Ok maybe everyone can read it when you click it for the first time. It is worth the read. We must have had Edmunds ranked very high the way Beane talked about him. We had a deal in place with Denver to get Allen, would have cost us both 1sts and a 2nd but we would have gotten a 3rd back. When Chubb fell Denver called off the trade and Beane was worried no one else before Miami would want to make the trade. Tampa came through at the last minute.

c'mon its the 1st time behind a new center 1st practice etc.. there is so much nothing going on with this tweet its actually gone beyond silly, and landed directly on puddy

I hear you but he had fumble issues in college. If I was a Jets fan this would concern me.

Everything I've read over the past couple weeks tells me there's no difference between Josh Allen and Christian Hackenberg

I'm not necessarily saying you're wrong jrober, but I do think Allen is a better prospect than Hackenburg was. Hackenburg was projected to go in round 2 or 3; Allen was projected as a top 10 pick. And their scouting reports aren't as similar as you might think:

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/2016/profiles/christian-hackenberg?id=2555416

    https://www.nfl.com/prospects/josh-allen?id=32462018-0002-5600-29bc-8750224414bd

For example Hackenburg had an adjusted completion percentage of 51.5%, while Allen's was 61%. And Allen had much worse talent at Wyoming. Hackenburg's scouting report mentions that his balls sometimes wobble. I don't see that from Allen, his passes are almost perfect sprials pretty much all the time. I don't think Allen's throwing motion is his problem, it's really his base and footwork that give him issues more than anything else. I don't think Hackenburg's release time is in the same realm as Allen's. Allen is also much more athletic.

Hackenburg also had 3 straight years of starting experience, whereas Allen had 2. So he was a more finished product.

Do you have any video evidence of this inaccuracy or did you just make it up like CNN?

Yeah I actually watched a lot of his game film. He has area code accuracy on a lot of throws. He has a tendency to sail some deep throws way past his target. He also makes some outstanding boundary and over the middle throws that a Buffalo QB hasn't made since Jim Kelly. We have to hope those become the norm. Even his biggest supporters understand he is a project.

Remember, this isn't Manuel or Losman

Well, we don't know that yet. But I definitely feel better about him than I did with EJ. When we drafted EJ I couldn't believe it, I really hated that pick. I rewatched some of his film after we drafted him and I was not reassured. With Allen my opinion has changed somewhat since rewatching the film and watching his Senior Bowl throws. I'm still not 100% on board but I get why he was a top 10 pick for reasons you wouldn't find in any analytics. He's risky as heck but the upside is there. If nothing else his development will be fun to watch.

I'm not completely sold on the Allen pick, but I did notice that a handful of these TD passes were thrown late in the 4th quarter,

Yeah this is something I noticed when I rewatched some of his game film after we drafted him. I didn't methodically chart his throws so maybe I'm wrong, but it seemed to me like his worst throws came early in the game. He would sometimes get on hot streaks in the 2nd half where throw after throw was on the money. If he can channel that in the NFL he will be very successful. Some QBs have to get in a rhythm and then they become unstoppable. That's how Cam Newton is, it's just lately he hasn't found that rhythm often enough.

Yes, those are his numbers. I've also watched him play quite a bit and I'm saying he's better than you're giving him credit for. He hasn't had much to work with over the course of his career.

Flacco is not a positive comparison. Ravens fans despise him and his ridiculous contract. He caught fire at exactly the right time which is cool and all but I'm aiming for more. They just traded back into the 1st round for a QB! They are trying to do better there.

Can anyone tell me what in particular Kim Pegula has the capability to screw up as president? What is the worst case scenario for the Bills that people are up in arms about?

It's been a little while and no one has been able to answer this. That confirms what I thought, which is that the people who don't like this move aren't actually worried about anything she will do as president. They are worried about something else entirely.

All the tape I saw shows otherwise. He was the only QB hit hit the crossbar from 35 yards. (3:16 mark)

I don't really care what a QB does in shorts with no one else on the field. If you watch his game tape there is a lot of imprecise passing. His receivers have to control their bodies or stop running to catch his passes. Dump offs and screens are not thrown with good touch. JMO from what I saw on his tape.
