The Young Guns Have Arrived in the NFL !!
Billsatlastin2018 replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The early grades are in for this year's class from CBS: * Mayfield A- * Rosen C+ * Darnold D + + Allen D + it wasn't pretty. "Stats: 55 of 103, (53.4% completion), 666 yards (6.5 yards per attempt) 2 TDs, 4 INTs, 63.8 QB Rating Like Darnold, the times Allen has moved quickly from his first to his second read have been few and far between. Also like Darnold, Allen hasn't been comfortable moving away from any semblance of pressure inside the pocket. He too has been forced to throw with defenders -- and offensive linemen -- in his face due to a lack of pocket presence. All of that has led to a high amount of sacks, and Buffalo's offensive line has been average at its absolute best, particularly against the blitz. He's dealt with plenty of drops as well. Allen's proven to be a commodity as a runner, both on scrambled and designed plays. He's had a handful of clear-cut misfires but when kept clean and when his initial read has gotten open quickly, Allen's thrown with major velocity and good accuracy without ball-placement problems. His pass-catching options are the worst of 2018's first-round quarterbacks who've started thus far, and he hasn't seen as many quickly open first-read targets as his signal-caller contemporaries. Also, what's likely a plan to accentuate his arm strength, the Bills' scheme has been mostly vertical based, and while Allen has taken many shots beyond 20 yards, there have been a couple of times he hasn't pulled the trigger downfield to give his receivers a chance to make play. Either way, given the offensive line, his shaky pocket presence, and current tendency to lock onto his first read, Allen would benefit from more quick-game elements in Buffalo's offense. In the second half against the Packers in Week 4, he was much more calm in the pocket and more decisive than in any other half of football I've seen him play at the NFL level, but Allen was not moving quickly to his second read. Someone needs to be fired over Mahomes right now.

If there was only ONE great choice on the board, my expectation is that OBD will punt it... for a touchback... from the 32 yard line. -
A dumbarsed decision to be sure! Normally, I agree to go for these things about 8x out of 10. But, the Field position was everything. If you botch it, your opponent is close enough, with ENOUGH time, to make ONE decent completion, spike the ball and make the FG. Exactly what happened... err after the 5th Teich's second FUBAR! All my friends were cheering for their betting and personal Fav- Indy, while I was on the winless Texans, not only for the game, but because I've bet them to win their Division. To let a Duvision team off the mat, by stealing victory from the jaws of a no harm push, was simply inexcusable! Bad, bad, not ready for Prime Time-Frankie!

Yeah I would worry now about the $5K

I have been a gambler, of various Sports, for about 50 years- especially the NFL (the game made for gambling) and of course- the Bills. I know every angle of NFL betting, especially on the Net and the use of the word 'arbitrage', which I used for a syndicate in the early millennium. However, for myself, I have never bet 5 large on a single game! Never. And, given the likely financial situation of this poor Basterd- would never have considered it! Even though, today I CAN afford it, since I day trade stock and took a hit on Wednesday, greater than the 5k. Followed by, a win on Thursday of greater than 3k. Since, I am up in 5 figure, these ups & downs don't cause me to lose any sleep. Only fools, waifs or addicts make those plays, if they can't afford to kiss them goodbye- without an iota of regret. The entire thread should give many pause, not to follow in his footsteps. Enjoy the Bills and the games and if you must, place a token wager for interest and shites and Beer money giggles- only! -
Josh Gordon to be released-now traded to PATS

Let's see now... 1) A 5 Alarm Tire Fire ? 2) An inside shot of going to the Super Bowl? Even on a WEED jag, I can figure this one out! -
"I hope it works, ...but this is basically the line we were sold with the Sabres a few years ago, but the GM proved much more adept at tearing down what was there and acquiring future assetts, than he was at re-building...so we were treated to an extended period of some of the most miserable seasons in Sabres franchise history...lets just hope McDermot and Beane know how to re-build an NFL team, better than Tim Murray did and NHL team." And therein, lies the rub! For the vast majority of NFL teams, this 'destroy and rebuild process' makes sense- a lot of it. But, you have to have 1000% confidence in the abilities of OBD's Management team to make the vast, vast, majority of correct- no great decisions immediately, as they occur,- whether it's via the Draft or FA! NO WHIFFS! I simply don't- given the pathetic track record of this entire Millennium. The bottom line is that THIS Bills team perhaps has 50% of its players on the field, that belong in the Sunday Night Beer League! 50%! It's never here a question of JUST grabbing the Top 10 QB and all systems go. Noooooo...the Bills have FUBARed making the proper moves and they have needed 1-2 OL, a DE, a LB, a WR, a S/CB PLUS the Top 10 QB. And in 2018, they need another half dozen. It's just a Groundhog Day Titanic- one move forward and 5 back!

McD took over defensive play calling in 2nd half
Billsatlastin2018 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My posse and I never go to see these changes, as our arses were outta the Stadium and on our way to being outta Orchard Park @ 28- puuuuuuuuutrid 3! Tell me though. Did we somehow miss a stirring comeback or did it end with the normal dog's breakfast of idiocy, incompetence & implosion? -
I'd rather the question was generic, rather than based on last week. Let's face it- the GM has assembled a team of largely, sub standard, NO talent Trash. That's on him! And if the game plan, is to slowly replace Sunday Beer League guy's with NFL talent, we have a looooooooong wait to go. I'd rather stick to an example to demonstrate. Unless memory is failing, Peyton Manning spent virtually his entire Colts career in hurry up mode. I.e. His entire front line were disciplined and poised to get down into a set for at least 20 seconds, without flinching on every play, while he called AND changed the plays. I simply cannot recall how many times, that line False Started- but it was rare. It was rare because Dungy, his coaches and Manning, whipped that into them, from before they even hit training camp. (There are other examples- of course, Billy B is one- where you better not F up- EVER... or you don't play for him!) i guarantee you, that on Sunday, at Home and with the crowd quiet, this Bills line will False Start! I sometimes saw it 4 times per game this Millennium. Stupid penalties, deliberate head hunting, poor positioning, incorrect reads, are ALL on coaching and the absence of discipline & repercussion.

* I'd like to be positive. * I'd like to see progress- anywhere. * I'd like to rave about a Rodgers like, 45 yard bomb on the finger tips to cue a memorable comeback. Or... I'd like to see Brady like efficiency! * I'd like to see my team, just once, run the table in September OR finish the half at 6-2. * I'd like to see Offensive Lineman who don't False start- at HOME! * I'd like to see ANY Receiver get open and catch a 20 yard out at the sideline with both feet in bounds. * I'd like to be confident in my HCs game plan and far, far better- that he has enough smarts to change it at half time to overcome adversity. * I'd like my GM to draft a star quality football player... hell at ANY position and still have them playing a decade later. I'll settle for 5 years now! * I'd like to see an entire org to be proud of and rave about- not a bunch of stupid, untalented trash and stumblebums at virtually every position- so substandard, you find them on the second page of comparative position stats for the NFL. I'd like to... but I can't. That was soooooo 2006! (And I do remember the wonder of greatness, cheering and positive vibes since I had Season Tix from 1988 to about 2006- where anything seemed possible in the Glory Years.) I'm now a bitter realist. Show me or else- period.

BINGO! And here's the rub and the flaw in the nicely laid out strategy by the OP! Trust is 'Show Me' earned by now at OBD! No sane Bills' fan should have ANY confidence in any overall plan, until they see- yes the GM and management can actually assess talent and make the correct choices, when called upon. We need to see, based on the body of real life, year to year evidence, that this is Billy Beane at the helm- not Mr. Bean!

What is the first phone call Beane makes today?

I believe yesterday was a bit of a fluke
Billsatlastin2018 replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Think you're dead wrong! This was not a fluke and the Bills are a very bad team! They lack NFL calibre talent at virtually EVERY position. The GM has made a complete bust of virtually everything so far, in several cases, giving up draft picks for little or nothing! He isn't the first this entire Millennium! The Coaching I'll pass on so far. They coach trash and they know it. Will they win a few games? Sure- think blind squirrels. Lucky to be better than 3-13. (From from my own 5-11 Pre season evaluation.) Several prognosticators said this BEFORE the Season began. They were and are correct! -
Who Starts At QB For Week 2? (Poll)
Billsatlastin2018 replied to Paulus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On OTHER NFL teams, a half dozen have the GOAT or certifiable, first ballot entrants to Canton. The rest of the top half, have good to very good QBs. The next large group has serviceable QBs with occasional excellent performances. The Bills are in the bottom six, where misfits, question marks, also Rams and trash reign. And with the rest of these stiffs, the QB position is NOT the sole issue! For virtually the entire Millennium at OBD, the QB search is never, ever the capper- the star on the top of the tree. Rather this year, it's the QB + ALL 3WRs + an entire Offensive Line! They are ALL trash and the GMs at OBD, only appear to move forward, by subtraction. One positive move, combined with 4 steps back! Management has done such a woeful job, that they are always looking for multiple pieces, rather than whittling it down to one- as all the excellent NFL managements accomplish! Sure, put in the Rook. But, who is he throwing to and who will be preventing him from being crushed? -
We do not have a Brady, but we don't need to win 13 games either. 9 or 10 would be nice. No Brady & the starter under Centre yesterday, was on the basis of his first three games- one of the worst EVER. The alternative, given the disastrous early selections of this GM, will possibly turn out to be the wrong Josh! Which doesn't matter. Because the OL, the TEs & ALL WRs are complete, unmitigated trash, who couldn't find an NFL job if the Bills released them! Even the RB, might not make the Top Ten. 9/10 Ws? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Against whom? I'm now revising my Saturday prediction from 5-11 to 3-13 and THAT is being charitable! These buffoons are now odds on to lose every game!
