Fwiw I hope I'm wrong about this coming year the g tobviously But the roster+what we saw last season leads me to believe they're going w a much more conservative approach and I think it's going to produce a significantly less productive offense
-
He was also sacked the second most times in his career, damn Dorsey for calling all those sack plays! I figured you knew better than to conflate rush attempts w called QB runs, maybe you don't. Regardless, I have a feeling this season is going to be eye opening for a lot of folks

Yardage Predictions for Bills Receivers in 2024
GoBills808 replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
Embracing variance in the pass attack Leveraging his QBs unique ability to attack all parts of the field Understanding that the modern requirement of QB mobility should be deployed as a trait and not a feature -
Yes Dorsey, the one OC who DIDN'T automatically call QB power when he was out of ideas as to how to move the ball on the ground...he's the one who lacked imagination

I'm really starting to love this WR room. We quietly got better

Also before @FireChansask- I don't blame daboll in the slightest for parlaying his role in developing Allen into a HC spot. It's the smart play when you find yourself in that position. All I ask is we remember his offenses accurately when we try to compare the list of mediocre OCs we've been subjected to the last 7yrs -

dont forget exposing Allen to a completely unnecessary 1v1 w the Texans safety in the wildcard on the John Brown lateral pass...you know just because daboll was auditioning for HC as much as he was crafting an offense -

another direct quote- "If you were in the team meetings in training camp, you would know what style of offense I want and what style of defense I want. What style of football team I want. That identity is shaped in training camp and that identity needs to embody toughness.” -
Yardage Predictions for Bills Receivers in 2024

it is absolutely the offense McDermott wants direct quote after the Bengals game- "You have to [establish the run] in order to move the chains and keep a good offense off the field. And I think that's all part of being a good offense is being two-dimensional" -
You need young guys getting full reps early so they can contribute late in the season

this will have to change imo If hollins is playing over Coleman week1 something has gone wrong

would it be fair to say thus far the dline has outperformed the oline or no

Dorsey's offenses were consistently better against better competition he also never got the benefit of playing a terrible Jets defense 2x year, the year after Daboll left they went to the top of the league -

100% this down to the word and the most predictable part is the amount of grace that Brady will be extended when his offense is almost inevitably less productive...until it once again becomes convenient to fire him when the team underachieves. rinse repeat another OC another system another year of peak Allen w scraps for offensive coaching -
no

i also watch the niners a bit and i think deebo is arguably more important to their team. not that aiyuk isnt technically the better wideout but imo he's more replaceable in their offense i know its playing the injuries game but if greenlaw doesnt go down early and they have hufanga healthy i think they win that SB pretty comfortably tbh

i think playoff game checks are only like $40k😂😂 some guys might prefer a shorter season all things considered

How much time is left and how many timeouts Because I'd rather go for it on 4th and 15 than rely on bass rn all things being equal -

and again- we are NOT struggling to get past the Chiefs 'like the rest of the league' the teams i listed previously do NOT give up anywhere close to the numbers that we do vs Mahomes. -

It's clearly not just a Chiefs problem. that's just spin imo The defensive numbers vs other top teams that have played the Chiefs in the playoffs (Bengals, Ravens, Niners specifically) compared to ours are staggering -

allow me there are two answers, the very simple one first- Beane, for all his missteps, managed to pluck Allen from out of the morass of Darnolds and Rosens. He's responsible for the single most important Bills draft pick ever and that's always going to trump whatever roster deficiencies may exist in a given year. McDermott has no such singular victory. In fact quite the opposite- he's directly accountable for one of the worst collapses in league history. the more complex answer is that NFL roster construction is as we know a bicameral process executed by the GM and informed by the tendencies and preferences of the staff. there is very little doubt in my mind that Beane's drafts and pro personnel moves would differ significantly under a different HC. that, along w the obvious fact that despite incredibly disingenuous protestations to the contrary we very much did have Super Bowl caliber rosters in both 2021 and 2022, is why McDermott is correctly under more scrutiny than Beane -

It's the unfortunate reality of being a kicker...your misses are always more memorable than your makes Part of the job description
