What Bills WR Duke Williams is looking forward to in preseason Next stop, the preseason. The Bills exited their training camp portion of their summer schedule and the preseason now begins. Perhaps no one is more excited for that than wide receiver Duke Williams. “Contact,” Williams said. “Get a little physical.” “That’s definitely my game. See ball, get ball,” Williams said to the team’s website. “Every time I see that ball I want to go get it. I’m a big body and I’m good on contested catches.”

14th Annual Buffalo Bills Training Camp Awards Most Valuable Player: John Brown He came in as a widely respected deep threat for Buffalo’s offense, but the full display of his skill set as a receiver showed everyone that he can be dangerous in the short to intermediate areas as well. Brown was the most consistent performer in the two weeks of camp practices at St. John Fisher and will be a supreme value to Josh Allen's development. Most Promising Player: Josh Allen This is the second straight camp that Allen was listed here. With a firm command of the offensive system and comfortable as a team leader, Allen’s game should take a sizable leap forward in 2019. Hon. Mention – Tremaine Edmunds

CAPACCIO: Five post-training camp opinions 3.) I really can’t remember a time I felt the Bills' secondary was as talented and deep overall as this group is. There have been times they’ve had two really good cornerbacks, and other times they’ve had solid safeties, or a combination of one at each spot. However, corners Tre’Davious White and Levi Wallace, along with safeties Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer all in one secondary is as solid as I can remember. That’s just four players, when Taron Johnson can really be considered a starting player as the slot cornerback. That’s five legitimate, solid NFL starters. Even if other Bills teams in the past had a really good starting four, they didn’t have five, and certainly not the kind of depth this one has. Obviously cornerback E.J. Gaines is a part of that, but he is hurt right now. Cornerback Kevin Johnson has continued his strong spring into this training camp, which just underscores how well Wallace is playing. Behind Hyde and Poyer at safety is Kurt Coleman, who showed his football IQ and leadership immediately after being signed. This was one of the better overall secondaries in the NFL last year, and so far it looks like they only got better for 2019.

Buffalo Bills training camp 2019: How long will starters play vs. Colts on Thursday? The Buffalo Bills will kickoff the preseason on Thursday night at New Era Field against the Indianapolis Colts. How long will the starters be on the field? Sean McDermott met with the media before the Bills’ final training camp practice at St. John Fisher College on Tuesday and revealed that he plans to play the team’s starters “roughly a quarter” in the team’s 2019 preseason debut.

Top 3 things to know from Day 11 at Bills training camp 3. Andre Roberts making presence known at receiver When he was signed as a free agent, he was seen as a player who could provide a shot in the arm to special teams as a dynamic return man. While the Pro Bowl return man certainly brings top end talent on the team’s kick and punt return units, he’s also turned some heads on offense at receiver. Over the last three days of practice there might not be a receiver who has pulled in more passes than Roberts. Tuesday was no different. Unofficially, Roberts made four receptions in a shortened practice and has been getting consistent separation from defenders. Getting a fair shot at receiver in addition to his special teams abilities on the previous NFL teams he’s played for has proven difficult the last several years. In Buffalo, he’s had more reps at receiver than he’s seen in several years. “I’d have to go back to 2014 or 2015,” said Roberts. “I’m getting a lot here. That’s just what I like to prove every single year that I play. Be what I am at returner, but at the same time be a dual threat and do some things on offense.” https://www.buffalobills.com/video/camp-highlight-josh-allen-td-pass-to-andre-roberts

LeSean McCoy reiterates that he's 'the guy' in the Bills' backfield "So many whispers about this and that kind of about myself, about my game," McCoy said. "It's kind of weird. Since I've been like nine years old, I've been like the top guy, so it was even weird to hear stuff like that. But it comes along with it. The good thing is I learned how the media is, how you guys are, how people are, how fans are, fantasy team owners. Right? "You have a bad two games and you have three hot ones and you're the man. My brother, he was a sports agent, he sends me like clips or whatever doubting A-Rod or Tom (Brady). Those dudes have done so much and then they rebound and they bounce back and then everybody's like praising them. I guess it's just like the NFL, I guess that's how it is. I'm fine with that. I know who I am, I know how I play and my teammates know that. "We'll see on Sundays. And one thing I won't do is I won't even bring it up. So if anybody here says something about me, I won't bring it up to you. Like I never heard it." On if he can become the 31st player in NFL history to rush for more than 1,000 yards after age 30: "I think so, I think so. That's the goal. But the main goal is just winning games. Winning games and being productive. Making every snap, every play, every rep count. I think, once you do that, the good things, the stats, they come along with it. And that's something I've learned, also. When you kind of focus on the numbers and the yards, you kind of don't get it when you want it. I think this the first goal is just to make every rep, every play count, work hard and win games, and the other stuff and stats, they follow."

Unpopular Opinions: 49ers overhyped; Bills deserve more love ONE TEAM I AM DIGGING: THE BUFFALO BILLS I know, I'm a weirdo. Josh Allen is more unproven than Garoppolo at this point, even though they've started just about the same amount of NFL games. Allen ranked last in completion percentage (52.8) among qualifying quarterbacks last season. And only Josh Rosen was worse in passing yards per game, touchdown-to-interception ratio and passer rating. Seriously, Allen's passer rating was 67.9 last year. Although I will point out that he completed 17 of 26 passes for 224 yards and three passing touchdowns to go along with 95 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns against the Dolphins in Week 17. But he's a risk, I know. And his receiving corps doesn't have a George Kittle, but I do like what they have in John Brown. Allen likes to heave the ball deep, and, per Next Gen Stats, Brown averaged more than 16.3 air yards per target last season, the fifth-highest among qualifying wide receivers. So I like that. The Bills also committed to protecting Allen by adding seven offensive linemen between free agency and the draft. But the reason I'm leaning toward the Bills is the defense. Thanks to the Giants and Raiders making surprise picks in the draft (I didn't say bad picks, but they were sort of surprise picks), the Bills landed DT Ed Oliver to fill in for the retired Kyle Williams. Oliver had 54 tackles for loss from 2016 to '18 at Houston, the second-most among FBS players. Oliver joins a unit that ranked second in total defense in 2018 (294.1 total yards allowed per game). They led the NFL with 179.2 passing yards per game allowed. They were great on third down. Tre'Davious White was one of just two players in the league with a defensive passer rating below 75.0 (71.8) and two or fewer touchdowns allowed in coverage on at least 70 targets, per NGS. And the Bills were good without getting much pressure on the quarterback up the middle, which Oliver should help with. I'm not saying the Bills are going to unseat the Patriots. The offense isn't ready for that. But, if you're looking for a dark horse this season, I'd lean Buffalo over San Francisco.
