  1. I predict the Bills will play 16 games, 8 at home and 8 on the road. In a more bold prediction... JP Losman will start at least half of the regular season games... And finally... The Bills will finish 5-11 give or take a win... too many changes for this team to finish better than that... McGahee will have a decent season, but not a "great" season... much like last year... 1300-1400 yards.
  2. There is such a thing as overanalyzing numbers... The only number that matters in the W/L... Whoever is QB has got to improve that number or they don't belong as the QB... IF you are depending on your QB to win games... JP is the goat for an inept team, simply because he is the QB. I don't think that's very fair of the media or us as fans, but it's a fact nonetheless. Have a healthy QB competition in camp/preseason... the best QB deserves the job. I don't care about stats during the preseason... Whoever seems most comfortable and adept with the 1st stringers in the "system" deserves that job. Biggest story so far this offseason (other than Front Office/coaches)? Not Nall or JP... but where the hell is Willis. It's a new administration, and he belongs at the OTA's... as do the rest of the no-show vets. I know they are "voluntary"... but not showing up is ridiculous.
  3. This team has had a lot of adversity with injuries to deal with this playoff run... I think more than their fair share... But, the beauty of not building a team around 1 or 2 stars is that everyone has a chance to shine - even the replacements... Despite all of that, they could have lied down and lost game 6, but they didn't... and for that I appreciate them and their effort. I believe the sabres can win tonight... I won't go so far as to say they will win or lose, but a win is a distinct possibility. If McKee is a scratch, that will be a blow to those chances, but I'll still watch the game. They deserve our attention and support. 1 game away from hosting the cup finals... come on Sabres... I hope we get the first goal... it tends to shut their crowd up quick...
  4. Well, I thought I'd be the first to say it, but I see I was beaten to the punch yet again... DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED! perhaps this sort of thing will incite some passion in the team...
  5. You know... I never liked the little engine that couldn't... I have to admit though that part of it comes from a sense of dislike towards being told what to do... the media loved him... so therefore we were supposed to as well... He was 1/2 of the worst debacle in Bills history in terms of the RJ/Flutie controversy which boiled and churned over several seasons. I was happy when they were both gone because the controversy was finally put to rest - but now that Flutie's retired... here it comes again... the same old arguements rehashed... Flutie never won a superbowl here or anywhere else... he had some great games as a Bill... but he isn't even one of our top 3 QB's ever (in no order - Kelly, Kemp, & Fergy).
  6. I'll take the "Burger King".... Or maybe the "Vending Machine"...
  7. If you still need a GM, I'm not sure how this works, but I'll give it a try. How many rounds do we go?
  8. So late in fact that the orignal post has moved on to the archives and I couldn't post the latest update to it... Sorry bout that... it is rather depressing.... for most of us anyways... The only 2 share prices that matter: Pittsburgh is offered at $46 a share, there are 5 shares remaining. Seattle is offered at $45 a share, there are 4 shares remaining. Scores: Mooseman (CPA) $316 $93 billsfanintx (TBD) $145 $50 Spiderman (CPA) $19 $10 JasoninMT (TBD) $1 $8 DarthFerret (CPA) -$80 -$45 fezmid (TBD) -$86 -$40 canadian bill (TBD) -$90 -$39 edemup (TBD) -$90 -$33 mead107 (TBD) -$100 -$5 TomB (CPA) -$120 -$92 sfladave1 (TBD) -$133 -$67 I feel fortunate I'm breaking even... but I really bought into Indy vs Chicago and lost my fortune there... I fortunately had 1 share each of Seattle and Pittsburgh... so I will finish at +$1.... You have of course until Next Friday to make any purchases... Next year I'm restructuring the game to make it simpler and easier to sell shares - I will not play myself and will by shares back at market prices... I also am going to remove the limit to the # of shares... I was initially worried everyone would pick the same stocks if I didn't limit them... Which doesn't matter really... Also, the initial price will be equal for all teams at $5 a share with $100 in seed money. Those prices will adjust daily based on sales activity and will also get bumps and drops from wins and losses... I only wish I was smart enough to write some sort of web page to track everything instead of doing it manually with Excel...
  9. If you think back to when Marv was coach... He played Kelly until his arm fell off.... then, when our "practice" QB of Collins came in, he had no idea what he was getting into... So, it is a valid observation that he may go to a veteran rather than start JP next season... I would be disappointed with that, because we will be looking at his THIRD season without playing the bulk of the downs if that happens. You have to give your QB on field game experience rather than practice. Kelly was different, he'd played in the USFL before getting here. Marv never HAD to start a rookie.
  10. Long for them after what? I know they aren't the "sexy" picks... But we have to start somewhere and they haven't played a down yet... like it or not, they are our guys and we have to give them the benefit of the doubt for one year at least. Are you prejudiced about other people in your life as well? Also, Marv didn't fire Mularkey, Mularkey quit. And I think MM would have done better under Marv. But apparently the pressure on his family got to be too much. No job is worth that.
  11. Unfortunately, there is a lot of truth to what was mentioned in this thread. At least under the Donahoe regime. I think he "learned" to make a lot of decisions to please the fans, disregarding what was right or wrong for the team. He learned that very early on when he was practically hung for deciding to send Flutie walking. He stated it was his "Internet persona" who had said weeks earlier the opposite. As Coach, Marv made the unpopular decision more than once. I expect he will do the same as GM, when he feels it is right for the football team. It will be Brandon's job to market his product and not his own. That was perhaps a flaw in making TD both GM and President, he had to weigh selling tickets with winning games. Marv's job is a little easier, win games, don't worry about trying to make every fan happy. Wins create happy fans - just ask the 80,000 who sold out the Bills consistently in the 90's, even with the "bickering" Bills. Perhaps not individually, but collectively we deemed ourselves smarter than TD, and then we drove him to make decisions through our comments and questions as well as those of the media. In hindsight it was obvious to see those decisions. With all these "reunions" of coaches. I wonder if they will bring Dwight Adams back. I would have expected that to already have happened if it were going to. With all the personnel activity, did we even send senior representatives to bowl games to evaluate?
  12. I won't say our poster is making ths stuff up, the way some of you are willing to do, but it is obvious that his source - wether himself or someone within the organization - has been wrong. Having worked in a medium sized company though (probably comperable in size in terms of # of employees not including players), things change constantly, so sources can easilly be wrong. I think Marv wanted Sherman, and probably it was known in the organization that if it were completely up to him, Sherman would be coach. The same thing could be true with these Coordinators. If you re-read his post, I can interpret it as Jauron's picks for coordinators are... not that they would necessarilly be hired. This is an Internet message board, I hope the information keeps flowing, but I do take it for what it's worth... I mean, I'm not going out to buy a jersey based on a rumor... whether it's claimed to have come from a source or not. Please Sorprano's keep them coming, people just need to relax... It must be nice for them to never be wrong.
  13. Sorry... long day at work what with the holiday yesterday... Go figure one of the guys who's close to leading want's to know... If this game was any indication, NE would have beat Wash in the SB... however, that isn't the case, and so, almost 80% of the stocks bought are dead stocks right now. There are 21 shares owned of the four remaining teams... Team - Value - (Shares remaining for purchase) Carolina - $30 - (5) Denver - $30 - (4) Pittsburgh - $31 - (5) Seattle - $30 - (3) Scores (And they don't look to good for most of us) Mooseman (CPA) $136 $33 billsfanintx (TBD) $55 $5 DarthFerret (CPA) $40 $15 Spiderman (CPA) -$41 -$20 JasoninMT (TBD) -$59 -$22 edemup (TBD) -$60 -$18 fezmid (TBD) -$86 -$40 canadian bill (TBD) -$90 -$39 TomB (CPA) -$120 -$92 sfladave1 (TBD) -$133 -$67 Most players don't own any more stocks in play.... and only 1 player can afford to buy another share... There are some folks who have a chance at redemption, and certainly Moosman can fall down if his team dies on him... The dividends will be $15 this weekend. (also, I incorrectly had Mooseman as a TBD member last week.)
  14. I didn't need a deep source for this, but... When I spoke to Levy in the bathroom, he said we'd have a head coach before the start of next season. He also said we'd be playing 16 regular season games next year with 8 of them on the road.
  15. If Jerry Gray is let go, you KNOW he is on the top of the list of someone's clipboard... and he just got a fat contract... But couldn't stop the Seahawks from continuing...
  16. That's the new mantra.... Bring back the fried bologna sandwiches... and get this thing going again... I bet Mauck is available, if he isn't dead...
  17. I think a lot of it has to do with that story with his son taking it from a substitute teacher... "Mularkey? Like the soon to be fired coach? Umm, yeah, that's my dad." I was pulling for him to be gone before they fired TD, then I sorta felt sorry for him... But, I think all things considered, it probably will work for the better with a new HC - given that he's got a short leash by virtue of the teams regression this year. What always stings me is watching players and coaches who leave Buffalo do better elsewhere - better than they did in Buffalo at times when we (Fans & Media) are positive that they are has beens who shouldn't be in the NFL... And we wonder why the Bills will pull out when Wilson dies... We love them to death... literally... Our passion turns us from fans into zealots... who sometimes cut off our nose to spite our face.
  18. This is like some sick version of Name that Tune... I can ruin my potential NFL Career in 1 week... And while I'm pretty naive, I do think he's been a bit of a victim of circumstance who has a flair for making bad situations worse... There had to be a reason he pulled a gun on 3 teens, and I don't think he was holding them up... but of course THEY are the victims...
  19. It hadn't quite sunk in initially how much winning games matters in this format.... you can certainly hedge your bets, but it negates your successes... I have all my shares still in the playoffs, but I won't after this week - and those losses will hurt - especially if the team I thought would win loses... Not as much as it will if some others lose their team/teams... If the purchasing of these stocks is any indicator - it will be Wash vs NE in the SB with NE winning. I'm hoping for Bears vs Colts myself...
  20. All 5 Shares of NE are gone to a new player. I waited before making my own purchase of 1 additional share of Chicago...
  21. You still own what you owned last week.... I just wasn't bothering to post who owned what... since there's no actual trading going on as I did in the Regular Season.
  22. OK, Here are the prices that matter (the teams remaining)... I got a mere 10 players, so there are 5 shares of each team remaining for purchase. Dividends were $5 for each winner and a loss of $5 for each loser... This week they are $10. Carolina $20 Chicago $16 Denver $20 Indianapolis $22 New England $21 Pittsburgh $21 Seattle $20 Washington $20 Here are the scores - keep in mind some of these players are from a different board... The score is your stock value + your reserves - the initial $150. Name - (Board) - Score - Reserves TomB (CPA) $120 $60 fezmid (TBD) $114 $60 Mooseman (TBD) $76 $39 DarthFerret (CPA) $60 $25 edemup (TBD) $60 $42 billsfanintx (TBD) $55 $25 JasoninMT (TBD) $21 $18 (I can't win - this is just for fun) sfladave1 (TBD) $7 $3 Spiderman (CPA) -$21 -$10 canadian bill (TBD) -$90 -$39 Unlike the Regular Season, I'm not making you bring reserves positive... Negative reserves just means you won't be buying this week. And there is no selling either - some players are done, but if some bizarre fluke happens, we could certainly have all players in the negatives... You may spend your reserves for more shares - again only 5 shares remain of each stock... If I get more players I will add more (1 share per 2 players)
  23. Results & price updates coming shortly...
  24. Under Jerry Gray/assistants this defense took a step (or 12) backwards this year. I don't really care who is kept on Defensive staff right now... As for Chuck Lester, he's been there since Marv hasn't he, so now it's like homecoming.... I think Moulds will probably be kept if possible since he's the last Player Marv coached on this team - and I'd be curious how many if any more are in the league...
