  1. Does he have to report earlier than Friday 9/5? I'm assuming there's some sort of rule and league paperwork that has to be filed before you can put a player on your roster... and if he isn't available for the Roster, they don't have to pay him, right? Can the Bills require him to take a physical before putting him on the roster? Thanks in Advance. Just curious.
  2. The bills have pretty consistently only kept 2 QBs on the 53-man roster... Why would they start keeping 3 - as many of the rosters I've seen here suggest... They'll put one on the PS, and go from there. They have to cut 5 players to get to 75, correct? I don't think they can move Peters to the non-football injury list until the 53-man cutdown... I'm going to guess one of the RBs sees the door, Hall will have a hall pass... I'm going to guess a WR goes - probably Hawthorne I'm going to guess a TE - Massaquoi perhaps I'm going to guess perhaps Jon Corto... I don't think it's a good thing when they move you late in Preseason... I'm going to go with a CB last, Either Cox or Fox... They'll use the rest of camp fodder for Kids week vs. Detroit. I'd bet Baker & G-Ham make it one more week...
  3. A couple thoughts... Indianapolis Indiana and the surrounding area, are not part of the top 10 declining areas... So, calling Indy Small Market is an overstatement, to say the least... I bet they are much closer to the top half of the average NFL market. I don't hear any grumbling in Green Bay about needing a "New" Lambeau to compete in the NFL... That facility is ancient... While Winning does in fact change peoples mindset... A valid point was made by one of the commentators last night - Indy is only as good as Peyton Manning... They said, Buffalo is their future - and mentioned the fall of Buffalo after Jim Kelly was gone. We can argue all we want about whose departure marked the end of the era... but it was around the time Kelly retired (and a bit earlier when the gang was pretty much all gone). So, what will the Colts look like sans Manning... it'll be interesting.
  4. Extensions for anyone are tough... If they don't cut a deal now, if the season goes bad, they'll be hard-pressed to sign him, given the poor performance. If the season goes well, it'll be more expenseive to sign him. The time is ripe for them to lock him up for a few more years now. His deal will be cheaper since he hasn't got a stellar performance to stand on right now. Then, it'll be cheaper to release him if he's not able to turn this team into playoff contenders, instead of pretenders. Same thing holds true w/ Evans. He hasn't put up All-Pro numbers... sign him now, he won't get as big a bonus as he will if you let him play the year out, and regardless of whether you want him next year or not, you will be unable to sign him then as he'll want to test FA. Unfortunately for Peters, he doesn't hold any cards - other than his ability. He's locked up for 3 more years. I can easilly see him getting an extension next offseason, and with it a payday bonus... but, he has to show up and perform like he thinks he can for that to happen. I'm sure his holdout is all about his injury - not that he hasn't recovered... but that he realized he didn't get a LT Bonus (the only guaranteed money in the NFL), and he's worried that if he gets injured worse, he'll have nothing to show for it since his bonus is gone.
  5. For Johnson (or any 6th WR) to make the 53, I think they'd have to have prowess on ST... I remember when we released all of the ST players from the Preseason, and week 1, players were doing them for the first time... I hope we don't do that again... Especially since we didn't re-sign so many of our ST players (Aiken, Wire, Stamer, etc).
  6. http://www.justin.tv/live/channel_popout?c...nirvanarush2112 Should open w/o any garbage on the side or whatnot...
  7. If this was answered in pgs 2-3, sorry... Peters will go on the Non-Football Injury list and won't count against the 53 man roster during the season until he reports. (At least that's what I was told - and it makes sense). The money issue has already been discussed. He'll stop racking up fines at the end of training camp, and forfeit game checks after that.
  8. Tim Russert didn't do "Sports" talk... doesn't matter if he's biased one way or the other... M&M don't do politics, no one cares if they are liberal or conservative. I find them to be idiots - who use self made stereotypes to try and be funny. They are weak as comedians, and even weaker in terms of "Sports" talk... Golic could probably talk some good football, from at least his experience as a professional athlete... but instead he chooses to act like a caricature of himself.
  9. I find it funny that people in this thread call M&M homers.... and then predict a 10-6 record when pretty much all the analysts are going about 7-9 to 9-7.... I don't think the schedule is as easy as most people here do... Peters abscence will have an impact this year - even if he reported tomorrow... No one knows his game shape or the status of his injury/surgery since he's been AWOL since January (9 months ago)... He doesn't know the changes put in by the new OC... It could easilly make one of those early "Locks" swing the other way... And, not that I'd wish it on anyone, let alone a Bill, he has the blindside... Maybe Walker will step up and be a stud... but we won't know that for a while. I hope I'm wrong. I've simply watched this team for long enough to know I'm probably closer to being right.
  10. But, he's not on steroids anymore... Right?
  11. A much better question that the potential QB controversy is: How much time will Losman play? My guess is it won't be as long as it would be w/ Trent in there... not because of a controversy or anything, but the point of the 3rd game is to tune your starters, and without Trent I'm not sure they'll run it as long. Regardless of how JP plays, he isn't going to be the starter. It serves no purpose, why would the coaches treat Edwards the same way they did JP? We know how well that turned out. They made a decision that Edwards is their starter. I seriously hope they don't change horses midstream on another young QB. So, I suppose some people could try to create a controversy... but it'd be pointless.
  12. /ignore who's immature? Losman or you? ignore
  13. I have a feeling he'll keep 6... and if they cut one it could be Corner - who can go on the PS unlike the others.
  14. OT.... Of course after he ends up being autopicked on my Fantasy team he becomes a complete malcontent... At least I have Evans...
  15. This billsguy is acting like a wife... who when you make a mistake brings up something from 8 years ago as proof she shoulda known better... Get over it... he's a backup with one year left who seems content with that role... deep breaths... it'll be ok. I can pretty much guarantee most people who would have to deal with the situation he is in wouldn't handle it as well as he has... myself included.
  16. Can everyone relax? Jeezus... Trent Almighty goes down for a couple practices and everyone starts up JPL vs TE all over again... JP said he's come to terms with the backup role, he's prepared to be the backup, and he gets along w/ Trent... There's no controversy except in the mind of some posters. At worst, Edwards is gonna miss a preseason game... who cares? Peyton Manning has yet to participate in practice or games... you think anyone in Indy is concerned that Jim Sorgi is going to take over? If you really believe in Edwards ability, this shouldn't concern you. If you really believe in Losman, he gets a chance to show he's ready for the season. Losman will most likely take some snaps during the season... hopefully in some sort of garbage time (when's the last time that happened in a Bills game?) and not as a result of injury... But, he's prepared. I'd rather have 2 prepared QBs who get along with their coaches than Billy Ray Cyrus or whoever the hell that was who admitted he wasn't ready and was cut after a game when his number was called due to injury.
  17. #1 - It is an interesting - though not unprecedented situation... not that we've had an undefeated team up to a championship game before who loses... but a team who many believed would win loses... The trouble with the Pats* is... They don't have the spygate chip on their shoulder this year... (OK, they have the SB loss chip, but it isn't the same)... Also, the Giants didn't just eke out a win, they laid out a blueprint of rushing Brady, knocking him down, and rattling him to get in his head. Not every team is capable of this... but, you can bet a lot will try, and maybe someone injures Brady worse. All that said... They are still the team to beat in the AFC East. #2 - Favre is going to have a wake-up call... NYC is not Green Bay Wisconsin... he doesn't know his receivers (Franks isn't the Franks he knew), the media won't be easy on him if he throws late game losing picks, and the AFC isn't the NFC in terms of teams - he'll have a lot to deal with. I don't think the Jets are much better with him, other than makng a few fans happy in the short term for seeing their GM "do something". #3 - JP L isn't going anywhere this season. What team would trade for a player you know will be available at the end of the season? He has been decent in preseason (better week 1 than week 2, but not bad). He'll be a better backup for us than any other potential QB, and in the NFL, you need a solid backup at QB. Assuming nothing weird happens, I expect he'll get signed somewhere next offseason - like maybe Chicago... #4 - Peters will eventually show up... The Bills are willing to talk extension, but not willing (publicly anyway) to renegotiate 2008... They want him to play this year on this contract. My guess is he'll get an extension either midseason, or next offseason unless he does some prolonged holdout - or something drastic happens... It's a sad situation for both sides. I'd love to see Evans get his extension soon - as is being reported, that would at least show Peters good things happen to those who participate. #5 - Bluefire is spot on... if you read the comments made in the CBS article, Jauron is stating he just wants points on the board and doesn't care how the offense does it. Something happened last season, there had to be a reason for the bizarre playcalling from game 1... we'll probably never know where it originated, but lots of fans attributed it to Jauron being conservative and/or our inept OC. The clock management problem is his issue, and for some reason it's always been an issue in Buffalo... maybe it's that defensive assistant who's been here since Marv's day making the Timeout decisions...
  18. The results of this poll are pretty much what I expected... Most wouldn't just cave in to Peters... A vast majority either do nothing or simply call Peters or his agent to check in w/ him... I hope the reports that Jason Peters is going to report - that he's waiting for the team in Buffalo... are true. I don't necessarilly believe them, but I hope they're true.
  19. My .02.... he'll likely have the fines taken from his first check (or they'll break it out over a few)... He'll also likely not care when they eventually do grant his extension... If he doesn't report soon, I don't know if he'll even bother asking for an extension - and rather just hope to be released/traded... Because the relationship is souring by the day.
  20. I should have added a followup question... Do you think the Bills have an offer ready to present to Peters once he shows up? I think they have probably talked about the possible numbers already... and are just waiting for him to show up before making any offers...
  21. Just curious... I think I know where the majority is, but I could be wrong...
  22. I'm thinking the sound of crickets is a sign... Combine that with the fact WE aren't really clamoring so loudly for his return, and neither is the buffalo media... that tells me he'd better show up... It isn't that we're a better team without him, but the Bills are preparing to move on without him for now. Today, another thing came to mind... He hasn't been in camp at all with our new OC... While they probably haven't changed too much in terms of his blocking schemes... he's not prepared at all for this season.
  23. http://www.justin.tv/live/channel_popout?channel=xs_sports2 As an FYI for anyone looking for a broadcast without the chatroom - and direct from the justin.tv source... It'd be cool if someone out there did these during the regular season... but I doubt it'll happen anywhere consistently... Also - if your broadband isn't quite what you hope for... you can right click and drop down the quality to cut down a bit on the breaking up of the signal.
  24. I honestly don't think it will come to this... (I think Peters is going to show up before the end of Camp... he & his agent are banking on his replacements being horrific and forcing the Bills to come crawling to him - but I think Brandon is going to stick to his guns regardless). But I have another question or two for those who know where to find this information - or know it offhand... Peters has until week 10 to report in order to burn 1 year off of his contract obligation... What if he shows up and he's out of shape - or injured... or the Bills simply don't care at that point? What forces the Bills to put him on the active roster or cut him? I'm assuming he'll be on the non-football Injury list as a holdout... which is where I think they put these oddball classifications to hold rights but not count as a roster spot. Will he have to petition the league for reinstatement or something to prove he is willing to be on the team? What if he shows up week 11? He won't get credit for a season... but he'd at least be able to get a few game checks - or can he not even show up that late?
  25. Ummm... The NFL is a Monopoly? What about the Arena League? A person doesn't have a "right" to play in the NFL, just like I don't have a "right" to work at IBM, Microsoft, or any other company. Any player who doesn't want to sign w/ the team who drafts him, can simply find work in the field they trained for in college. Or, they can join the CFL or Arena League if they want to play football.
