  1. AFAIK - there are no game checks for PS games... They are basically "free" for the owners - all ticket $ goes to the team. Game checks start during the regular season...
  2. According to Brown - Peters has texted back and forth with a few linemates, just not about his contract or holdout in genera.... so, he ain't dead... Well, maybe someone killed Peters, and they're f'n w/ everyone by using his cell to text his agent, the bills, and his teammates... Hmmm... The Team, Peters, and his agents know more about this situation than anyone else... And they aren't sharing that information w/ anyone. Brandon said he's not going to talk about it w/ the media, Peters & his Agents haven't been talking to agents... which is strange, usually during a holdout you hear the player or his agent complaining about what they want to the media... It could be something other than $... We all jumped to that conclusion... And of course that's where the speculation starts.
  3. To quote Al Davis... "Just Win baby!" If the Bills stop losing, maybe fans won't have to drink so much to watch them! Kidding... Was there really that much of a problem that the league had to issue common sense rules which have already been in place? I mean, are they having trouble selling out stadiums across the league because of fan behavior? Furthermore, when we have a game on a field outside of our "home", like say in Toronto... how does that impact the team if rowdy Canadians aren't following these rules? Or those crazy English Soccer fans?
  4. While sitting in traffic today... listening to the griping on ESPN radio of the story with no end... {Favre... which someone even called Favregate for some inane reason}... An interesting thought entered my mind... The Favre story is the mirror image of the Peters story... Way too much information on how a player wants to be on his Team which would rather the player stay retired. While with Peters... No information at all on a player who doesn't want to show up for a team who really wants him to show up. Maybe Favre needs to go back in retirement for Peters to show up...
  5. Coming from a BB user - and an "older" Blackberry... it only handles text, images, and links... It will do a traditional dropdown box, but not java mouseover stuff. It doesn't have flash, and it doesn't have video. The newer Blackberry's handle video, not sure if they handle streaming audio or video. The other consideration is bandwidth... I have good bandwidth, but large pages take a bit to load (and I bet it's also the device reworking a page to fit it better). What I meant about articles being as close to the top, is moving the links underneath the articles. I visit TBD on my PDA for news, not links... I make bookmarks to the other pages I use. I would make the screen: {logo} {link to tsw} {Date} Headlines - with quotes (optimally, I'd be able to click an "expand" button to see the quote and have them collapsed by default, but that's not as possible I suppose) Put 5-10 headlines (or allow users to customize the number w/ a dropdown and store it in a cookie if possible) {Link to next articles - or previous after page 1} Links to other resources including the schedule as a seperate page This would cut down on my bandwidth - and yours and would also keep the load time as short as possible. PDA browsing is different than PC browsing imho. I'd rather click a few more times and have smaller - manageable pages, than have the "super" page with every piece of information on it.
  6. I'm seeing it pretty good on my Blackberry 8703e (Verizon, so no opera browser available) 320x240 I also have to scroll down to get a link to TSW... I sorta expect to see it in the top section, but it is in the Fan zone... Bills Links gives me: Schedule (doesn't work - I don't think BB browser does the # links to jump down Or this isn't really a link, but it acts like one) Buffalo Bills Schedule & NFL Schedule on the next line (2 links) The Draft (Coming Soon!) (Seperate line - does nothing) History Coming Soon! (Seperate line - does nothing) I would prefer to see the headlines near the top - and I like the quotes w/ the articles. It's easy to scroll down... BB.com has a nice pda site too, very quick to load and covers the latest info - C Browns Blog, etc. link is www.buffalobills.com/wireless - you may want to include that link at your PDA site...
  7. I like the look... I prefer they open in new windows... if you put a little icon next to the link which does it, that'd work for me and gives people the choice. It's alright on my Blackberry too... Have to scroll down a bit to get to the articles, but it looks pretty cool there too. and loads fast.
  8. 2 new things I thought of re: Peters... 1) I think he's waiting for at least the first PS game... He is banking on his replacement tanking and hoping the Bills come crawling to him... 2) If he holds out for much longer than that... I would bet money the Bills will draft a stud LT next draft... as insurance. (Too bad he didn't start pulling shiznit until after the draft... Someone here is starting to sound wiser every day...)
  9. Here's a link to some of this info... It says Goddell won't reinstate him "today", and that the team and Favre are still talking about the marketing deal (which may have been made to him around the time of his retirement and isn't a recent offer - according to McCarthy) http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8...mp;confirm=true
  10. This would seem a dangerous precedent if they don't allow him to be reinstated... and I'll bet the Union goes bonkers...
  11. I think Peters hasn't got the cards the "normal" holdout has, because he's signed for 3 more years... it won't cost the Bills anything to make him sit if that's what he wants to do. It'll be unfortunate, but he signed on the dotted line. I don't know whether he'll get much sympathy from his teammates either. I do hope the Bills get a deal done w/ Evans. It'll show that they are negotiating in good faith w/ players who show up (and deserve an extension like Evans does).
  12. I dunno... and I don't understand how a person walks away from 3 Million... and is going to have a huge chunk taken from his first check whenever that might come based on not showing up... I asked this earlier... if he never shows up, where does he end up in terms of the roster? we own his rights, but do we need to put him in the 53 to keep them? I don't think they can put him on IR... they'd have to pay him then.
  13. I didn't want this to get lost in the already super long threads... I asked Chris Brown if any of Peter's linemates had heard from him. He said no one has indicated they've heard from him. To me, this is a bad sign, it's a sign he is preparing to hold out for an extended period... This is a unique situation as has been discussed. Someone must be feeding his ego and making him think he doesn't need to prove anything... Like Jerry Glanville said, the NFL stands for Not For Long. And spending a season in your prime out of the game isn't going to help him at all... It isn't going to endear him with any other GM - and there's no guarantee he'll come back and play as well as he did before the holdout. He'll have to wait 3 years for a release... most holdouts only have 1 year left, so they have a bit of bargaining power - given they'll become a FA. His agent is doing him a disservice right now if he's encouraging this (which I have to believe he is doing). Heck, maybe they aren't even talking...
  14. Given that we expected sour grapes from a JPL who "Demanded to be traded"... Instead he's showed up to camp and sounds like a team player who's performing well in the new system... I'm glad. I don't think there's a QB controversy... If TE plays extremely poor in the preseason and JP lights it up... I don't think it'll change the mind of DJ & TS... but, it will haunt TE if he also starts games poorly even 1-2 games into the season (when people started bitching last season). I hope this doesn't happen. I want TE to succeed, I just have this nagging feeling he won't. This is completely unlike what I felt during the RJ vs DF era... I hated DF... I didn't want him to fail, but I just flatout hated his attitude and sense of entitlement... I don't know why that was... it just was... I'm even more happy to hear we have Shouman (sp?) lighting it up. We need a passcatching tight end. it's been lacking for far too long.
  15. I voted for Peters... only because I think he does deserve a raise given other players on his own line make more than he does... That doesn't mean he deserves any kind of raise as he sits out... he can rot in holdout limbo if that's the game he wants to play... but, if he showed up to camp tomorrow and started participating, I think most people would be in his corner - unlike the current poll results... Given that his agent has had this exact scenario happen with one of his other clients, I hope and expect him to send Peters back to work... It's ridiculous and the longer he holds out, the less I'll want to see him get anything...
  16. I only own 1 jersey... I accidentally left it at my Aunt's house in B'flo last visit and haven't gotten it back... Yet... It was Spikes... I voted for Lynch & Poz... My next Jersey would be Lynch... (I'll fix the Spikes to be Poz somehow...)
  17. You don't suppose that's why he isn't showing up at all... because he knows his injury is bad... Trouble with that thinkng is he'd probably have to pass a physical to get an extension/raise I'd wager, I bet that language is in every contract... Thanks for the info OC! You usin' a BB to post? I've never tried the Opera browser but I've heard good things about it.
  18. I didn't want to get lambasted by the Thread Duplication bots... I also don't have time to read this entire thread to see if the answer is in here - call me lazy, fine... But, my question is this... If a player holds out - where does the team have to hold their roster spot to retain the rights? As an inactive on the 53? Can they place them on IR? As far as the Peters situation... Does Peters deserve more $? Yes - because of his talent, his position, and the fact others with less talent on the OL are getting more. Is Peters acting like a baby about it? Yes - show up, live up to your contract, be a man about it... He's acting like he isn't a part of the Team by not being here, and if he doesn't show up during TC, as far as I'm concerned I would sit him when he comes back... there's a track record of Injuries to players who skip a lot of TC - because they get thrown right into the freight train that is the actual season Big Time Hits - and you can bet some DL will love to put a lick on a player who didn't go through TC. Does Brandon and the rest of the Front Office have a point to make? Yes - while Peters excelled for "1" season and made the Probowl, he signed an extension paying him more. I understand it's a business decition... and it's some sort of Principle... and they want to make a statement to players that they aren't going to cave every time a player decides to hold out... The best thing (I think) the Front Office can do, is get Evans paid... show Peters that participation is what gets results, not ignoring the team and acting like you've been disrespected or whatever.
  19. I don't recall the incident which caused it, but my first ever trip to TC was the day AFTER Parrish went down and wasn't able to play at all for the season - as I recall they didn't put him on IR - the PUP and never moved him off or something like that...
  20. Get 'er done Brandon... Get 'er Done! We still have 2 days... not worried yet... As was mentioned in the first post - Baltimore finished signing their picks the first day of camp... This is "normal"... And with the termination of the CBA, it muddies all contracts for agents and teams. Peters is an interesting situation... they've altered his contract once... now, he makes a Pro-Bowl and deserves more, but how much more? The fact he missed all pre-camp work is a bit alarming in terms of "character". He's under contract and should be involved. I'm sort of torn and can see both sides of it.
  21. Get Well! The road is long, the journey tough. Persevere and conquer obstacles Victory comes from successes, small and large
  22. I would like to propose a moratorium on the JP vs Edwards debate for now... Namely because the decision has already been made by the Bills... Whether you agree with it or not, it's pointless to argue about it at this point among ourselves. (Can't we all get along?) Now to what I wanted to say on topic... I think it's very premature for CB to start comparing Turk to Wyche, Weis, and Walsh (sounds like a law firm). I know CB likes to talk the party line since he works for the Bills at the website... but Turk hasn't even done one Training Camp yet as OC - and while Edwards showed a glimpse of promise to some people... Well, lets just say he isn't Boomer, Brady, or Montana just yet... And that was with working with the "Amazing Prodigy" of Turk Schonert. (very tongue in cheek, not meaning to diss on Turk, just point out he's not W,W, or W yet)
  23. Yeah.... well, the other thing is... what if you get 15 takers? They can't all pick your avatar...
  24. While I agree with what you're saying... (Peter's should be extended/reworked ASAP)... There's one problem, he is already showing he's sort of a headca$e with contracts... what's to stop him from being pissy next year when once again all the other LTs are getting raises... It's a tough go... Based on his performance he deserves a raise - and when you factor in how other players around him are getting raises it only proves his case more... but, they can't continually cave in to contract demands, it's not smart from a business standpoint.
