  1. I agree with Number 1.... I am probably getting closer to agreeing with #2, and perhaps I'm not being fair to Butler... but I can't forgive what he did to the salary cap... even if it was very much Ralph's team then... I have agreed with most of TD's moves... And the apologist comes in when it comes to having to clean up after Butler.
  2. What sickens me with this whole Butler/Smith are GODS BS.... is the following.... Call me a TD apologist or whatever, but he inherited a team which was in Salary Cap Hell... we were over the cap and had to cut talent just to be able to follow the rules... Butler inherited a team with a ton of cap space and high draft choices... Now, what he did with those draft choices is a different story... he gave Michael Vick away to get LT and Brees fell into his lap as the first pick of the second round... Brees has been very inconsistent in SD... so much so that he's been worthy of being cut a couple times by the media... and enough so that they not only drafted Rivers, but Eli Manning as well... Plus, I don't see any championship rings in SD... so enough with the love fest already.
  3. What I don't like about this situation is the BS... Coaches create QB controversies, not QBs.... right now, Mularkey is bordering on creating havoc by being wishy washy... you have a newfound fan favorite for a good 1 week performance by the person who is expected to be your future... Who is the same player you benched after 3 weeks because he wasn't ready for this league and you thought you might still have a chance at the playoffs... Now, he comes in due to injury and plays decent (better than decent even)... MM should be saying.... BAM, JP is in. He's our future, he appears to be more ready now than he was in week 4, next question.... but instead we are getting... Well, ummm, gee, I dunno.... I'll tell you on Friday.... when Holcomb isn't even practicing due to the concussion. This is just plain stupid on MM's part if you want my opinion... which you must because you chose to read this... no one forced you to. So, I'm not saying we are looking at RJ/Flutie again - or even the less heated Kelly/Reich debate.... yet.... but Holcomb doesn't sound like he's willing to cede the reins... he's all about being the guy on Sunday.... and frankly, we wouldn't want him if that wasn't the case, you want players who want to play... But, it's the coaches job to step up and make the call... don't let players make those decisions or you end up with a controversy. The reason Kelly/Reich wasn't a controversy is because Levy never let it become one. Jim sat when he was hurt and when he was healthy he played - the problem came in when he'd play even when he wasn't 100% and was hurting the TEAMS chances by continuing to struggle in a game. At least that was how I felt at times, and I wasn't alone... But, this wishy washy coach thing was what got Wade in trouble... he did the same thing, not committing to ONE guy... I'm not saying MM has to make the fan's choice of JP because of the fan's... but because Holcomb isn't ready to go, don't even toy with it... when he's healthy.... if he's the better QB, you play him if JP is faltering. That's why you benched JP week 4. /end of rant
  4. There were 3 shares of Dallas purchased via PM at $9...
  5. taterhill... you have $100 to spend... the prices are as listed for each team. The number after the price is the number of shares available (if they aren't available you can make an offer to the owners of the stocks to see if they want to sell 1 or more shares. There are no commissions or anything... The person who won the most money at the end of the season gets $25. sfladave1... You are the proud owner of 2 shares of Seattle. The exchange doesn't buy back shares - unless a person is in default in their reserves. Make an offer and see if someone will buy...
  6. The whole change E.ngland to Bruschi (we're not worthy) thing was a surprise.... OK, got your order of the share of Idle Cincy... The Jets folded their tents this week as their stock fell to $0 with no owners, San Francisco hit $0 and will fold next week with a loss (probably to the delight of pkwwjd who's had them as a bleeder in his portfolio) Green Bay avoided their own folding with a victory... So, that leaves us with the following: Team Price Shares Remaining Arizona $2 12 Atlanta $14 9 Baltimore $6 7 Buffalo $12 6 Carolina $18 0 Chicago $8 7 Cincinnati $18 9 Cleveland $2 12 Dallas $9 9 Denver $11 10 Detroit $7 12 Green Bay $2 12 Houston $3 12 Indianapolis $25 0 Jacksonville $10 6 Kansas City $5 0 Miami $3 12 Minnesota $6 12 New E.ngland $30 11 New Orleans $1 10 NY Giants $6 0 Oakland $4 7 Philadelphia $16 12 Pittsburgh $20 6 San Diego $9 7 San Francisco $0 10 Seattle $12 9 St Louis $4 12 Tampa Bay $22 9 Washington $4 12 I am buying 2 shares of Seattle at $12 (leaving me 1 in reserve) and giving me 3 shares now. I think I'm going to end this contest at the end of the regular season and start a fresh one for the playoffs... I'll set prices based on the final prices from this game... I think what I'll do next year is start every team at a flat amount with a limit on the number of shares allowed to purchase per player for the first week... OK, on to the shares owned... 7. Big Payouts this week.... the biggest so far in the game (a total of $58 in dividends were earned) Also, The Tennesee Titans Franchise has folded... no one owned shares and they hit a value of $0 this week... so no one misses them... Losses by the Jets and the Packers would fold them as well this week... New Prices, Shares remaining... 8. Hmm.... unstickied, so I reccomend subscribing to this if you are playing.... In answer to your question sfladave... you can spend from your reserves... the first number in the list is your score (adjusted from the initial $100 investment)... So, you had $27 to spend, the $62 is your score in terms of the game. Incidentally.... here is the latest information (apologies for lateness, but I've been busy)... Arizona $4 12 Atlanta $14 9 Baltimore $8 7 Buffalo $11 6 Carolina $16 0 Chicago $6 7 Cincinnati $17 10 Cleveland $2 12 Dallas $8 9 Denver $10 10 Detroit $7 12 Green Bay $2 12 Houston $5 12 Indianapolis $23 0 Jacksonville $8 6 Kansas City $5 0 Miami $5 12 Minnesota $4 12 New England $30 11 New Orleans $2 10 NY Giants $6 0 NY Jets $2 12 Oakland $6 7 Philadelphia $18 12 Pittsburgh $18 6 San Diego $8 7 San Francisco $2 10 Seattle $10 11 St Louis $5 12 Tampa Bay $22 9 Tennessee $1 12 Washington $4 12 As I mentioned last week, some teams are in danger of having their shares go away - not that anyone would care given their complete lack of ownership... If the value hit's $0 with no owners, it's gone.... -$1 w/ owners is dissolved... Also I never really said when this ends... I think I will do it through the superbowl.... 10. Speaking of natural gas and Dutch ovens.... But I digress. Yeah, climb in heating costs will kill this weak economy... if people think buying gas is tough, heating your house for 150% of what you are used to paying is insanity... It's almost as if Electric heat would be cheaper now...
  11. A Road game is tough... A Road game in Oakland is tougher... The fact that our Run Defense is very porous seeming this year worries me - especially against Lamont Jordan. This team can beat anyone if they play well... Trouble is they have been very roller coaster... regardless of the QB. at 3-3 we don't deserve to look past anyone and if they do it'll be a loss for sure. I think it'll be a close game... But Willis pushes us over the top as long as Holcomb doesn't give the game away with Picks.
  12. Two trades took place. I sold 1 share of Indy to Nick @ $22 and bought 1 share of Carolina from him @ $15. I then bought 2 shares of Denver from the exchange @ $10. Any shares still available for purchase from the exchange are at prices listed - and can be purchased using reserve funds.
  14. Having watched most of the game... at the end of the first half on a rare missed FG by Vinny... One of NE's OL got pissed and punched a Bronco in the nuts... and was ejected... The ref was looking right at him in the midst of the play or it might have been missed.
  15. E) None of the Above. We shoud keep both. This doesn't mean we should keep Nate at *all* costs... Nate Clements and Terrence McGee are better than Terrence McGee and *rookie*... McGee isn't playing the #1 WR... I'm not saying he couldn't... but we aren't comparing apples to apples. On the other note, I do NOT like that we have both our starting corners being return men - even with McGee being an awesome kick returner... It's just too easy to lose someone to injury on ST.
  16. I will post new prices and scores tomorrow with Dividends. In order to shake things up a bit, since this game is pretty much bookkeeping, I am going to make a purchase myself... I am also offering to buy 1 share of Carolina for $15 to anyone owning Carolina shares.
  17. If you want to talk about airport security more.... Well, this thread is rapidly making it's way to the PPP board instead of the football board... But on international flights, you can be handed a weapon as good as any used by the 9/11 experts by buying yourself some cheap duty free... break one of those bottles and hold it to someones neck... that'd pretty much do it... On any domestic flight you can also just carry your booze on board in a glass bottle... doesn't even have to be booze... a bottle of juice would do the trick as well... Take it with you to the bathroom, break it off and there you go... The point of airport security is NOT (well hopefully no one really feels it is) insurance that no terrorist activity will take place on a plane... it's a deterent... and it makes some travellers feel a bit safer... To be absolutely safe on an airline you'd pretty much have to lock all the passengers in cells after cavity searches... and even then I'm sure someone smarter than me would figure out a way... like get hired with the airlines for example...
  18. Or worse yet, they'd misquote it...
  19. I am not saying I agree or disagree with the policy... I'm just saying it's not illegal, and I don't see grounds for a lawsuit... Funny thing about the whole "freedom" thing in this country is you only really have it when dealing directly with the government... otherwise it's a private matter and businesses can pretty much do what they want as long as it doesn't violate any laws. But everyone always wants to apply the bill of rights to everything... I/we/you do NOT have the right to free speech inside a business.... I/we/you do NOT have the right to keep and bear arms wherever I am... I/we/you do NOT have the right to... Those rights apply on "public" property... And if the county leases a public stadium to a football team or a concert promoter... it isn't public property anymore... As for whether I agree with the policy... No, I don't... but I wouldn't let that stop me from attending a Bills game... As far as whether they should be able to do it at the airport... well, there's a sticky situation... because now those folks are government agents (TSA's are part of homeland security)... and I believe officers have those rights... But only IF they have reasonable doubt... and failing a metal detector constitutes reasonable doubt.
  20. Same exact thing happens every day at airports... You don't see any lawsuits there... and many airports are publicly funded as well, so I don't buy that arguement.
  21. What about trying to make an all-time roster? I think to be fair, they had to play for at least 1 or 2 seasons as a Buffalo Bill. make nominations then we can put them to a vote in a poll...

  24. If he benches JP, many critics will say he's abandoning the future... If he starts JP, many critics will say he's giving up on the season... I say we should continue with JP... take the lumps... See if you have something or not. I have to think at some point he is going to start giving the ball to Willis more... and that will only help JP... Yeah, we will have some 3 and outs... ok, is that worse than what we have now? I don't think so.
