  1. sfladave1 - as you said, this round until Thursday is only to set the prices for teams, not the selling of actual shares... I am gauging interest to get initial prices... the other way to do it would have been have 5 shares of each team, give them all the same value and let people buy at will... I didn't want to do it that way... Sure it's more complicated this way, but I felt it shouldn't exclusively be first come first served... I'm sure Monday will be a hectic trading day, as the trading begins - and we'll have 1 weeks worth of games (sans MNF) out of the way. BTW, you must own shares before the actual game played in order to get any dividends (or suffer any losses)...
  2. I think there are 2 lines of thought with respect to the draft... Rule #1, the draft is a gamble. So, I say you have to make a concession... Draft the players who if they turn out well will be Expensive contracts later. This way you get the best value for your money if they turn out to be good. If they aren't good, you cut ties... You have to keep in mind you will need to pay the areas you neglected in the draft more money as FA to come here - because they are already quality players with nothing to prove (well, they should be anyways). I think where Tom Donahoe fails is that he tries to skimp out on FA... both retention and signing. Rather than going out and getting or keeping the best available FAs, he assumes his Draft is "golden" and will make up for mediocre FA signings. This combined with poor O-Line drafting leads to the weak line we have today. His one "mega" o-line draft (Big Mike & #4 in the draft), isn't the second coming of Orlando Pace. Imho, letting Jennings go was a mistake.
  3. Thank you for cleaning up my rules.... I will add the short history & Reasoning to the bottom....
  4. One thing which bugged the hell out of me with respect to the TB game... How can you give the ball to Willis only 13 times and then say he wasn't hitting holes, blah blah blah.... If you only give a RB the ball 13 times... you didn't try running the ball. unless you only have 13 plays, then you have something.... And it wasn't like they gave it to anyone else... They gave up on the running game.... That's my opinion of course, but when you start pointing fingers, 4 are pointing back at you... I know WM wasn't doing anything with those 13 carries... but still, 13 carries?
  5. I'm talking about actual player moves.... Last I knew, Tom D wasn't a player on the field... I'm not saying he is the best GM on the planet... But, did he miss any tackles on Sunday? I'm not even saying I'm happy with the product he's putting on the field... But you can't put 100% of the blame on him. He signs players, they are supposed to produce... if he signs bad players or coaches, that is where he fails... If you want to criticize specific moves he's made, do it... call him out for his mistakes... What would you have done differently?
  6. I'll just start it... I'm one of those (If you build it they will come) sort of folks... It could be a complete failure, but I've already got 4 players... and I am sure we'll get more. If it's 100 players, then I'll need help coordinating things... but for now, Excel is working fine and I'll have a price available for each team on Friday... It's **Free** and should be interesting and fun... I'm not doing any web development or anything.... I think it's much too early to do anything like that... I would appreciate a Sticky... to keep this from falling off the page... thanks.
  7. As soon as I have the prices settled (Should be Thursday afternoon...) I will post the IPO... I will also post the number of shares available for each team. Then, Friday at 10am MT trading will begin. You can PM me your buys, first come first served... I will use the timestamp of TSW in terms of timing... No trades will take place before 10am MT (noon ET)... I'm sure I'll be flooded then... I will update as often as I can then... There will be a moritorium on trading stocks this week - it will only be IPOs... Also, you should post your buys in priority order, I will fill them top down, so you can ask for more buys than you can afford, I'll simply stop buying shares when you run out of $... Next Monday you can start trading among yourselves... After closing on Friday (3pm MT) I'll post the shares owned as soon as I can.
  8. Yes, Maggot Fest is still an annual event... I've never actually gone... I keep meaning to, but never seem to remember it in time to go.
  9. Oh, and Tuesday is when all dividends/losses are made. PM me your buys... I'll take the ones here, but PMs are better.
  10. Here's a partial list of Positive Player moves by TD... Tag/Trade of Peerless Price. Trade down to get Clements and Henry. Trade Henry for a pick. Signed Takeo Spikes as FA Signed London Fletcher as FA Drafted of McGahee Traded a future #1 for Bledsoe - who later soured but gave at least 1 wonderful year which enabled getting McGahee via Price trade... I think in terms of Player moves... he's done well... I know there are many other moves which are questionable - especially in terms of coaching selections... What most people hate is that we get a lot of hope because if he's nothing else he's a salesman - pitching to us every year, "this is the year fans." only to be disappointed... And please feel free to expand on his list of positive moves and also list the negative moves he made (which I neglected)... also, I'm talking about moves which **most** people here would agree were good or bad, not ones based on personal feelings (why I leave Flutie/RJ discussion out..)
  11. EDIT: This is a game to buy and sell shares of NFL stock, with the goal of making the most money.... And no, you don't get $1 million dollars if you win, it's a mere 1/100th of 1% of that... $25. EDIT: Change... Stocks may split if they trade for over $50 3 consecutive times. The cutoff for buys is 12 ET, Thursday. You get $32 to spend right now... each team's stock is $1... Whose stock are you buying? You have to spend all $32... The initial results will be used to calculate the actual Initial Offering Prices. Thursday Afternoon, I will post those prices for all to see. There is no limit on the number of shares for a team you can own - you are only limited by your money and by the number of shares available - there are only 12 shares of each team available for sale. On Friday at 10am MT, I'll start taking buy orders. You'll have $100 to spend. You may buy early if you won't be able to send at 10am (for a $5 penalty). I will post hourly updates as far as how many shares are available of each team until close on Friday (3pm MT). Because this will be a shortened week I will accept buys through Sunday at 10am MT (1 Hour before kickoff). I encourage you to put more than 1 buy on the list as I will process them in order received and buy as "best" as can be done - so you can "ask" for shares of something which aren't available, I will move to your next request and fill it working down the line. Starting Monday, trading will happen between 10am and 3pm Mountain, Monday through Friday... You will be able to buy and sell among yourselves, I just need to know about the transaction for it to be valid... I don't have Internet at home, so keep that in mind for after hours trade offers... Also, once the shares of a team are gone, you need a seller in order to buy - and you negotiate the price... Anyone may join, whether they helped to set the price or not. You can get into the market with your $100 at any time by sending me a PM. I will have a list of what shares are still available from me (unowned). Those prices will fluctuate based on teams performances. Other Rules: No partial shares will be allowed. All share prices will be whole dollars (I will round up any fractions). Any money not spent on shares is held in your "reserves". Reserves do not get interest. There are no taxes. There are no capital gains. The only time I will have a commission is during the first buy in for those buying prior to the market opening ($5). Just like Wall Street, the prices I list for teams will be the last traded price. If a teams shares aren't all owned their prices will fluctuate based on performance. A win by a team generates a $1 dividend/share going to your reserves. A loss by a team nets a $1 loss/share from your reserves - if you don't have any reserves you will have to sell a share of something to pay on the Tuesday following game week (by 5pm - if you don't pick, I will select). Dividends and losses are only paid/charged for shares owned prior to the game. The exchange (me) will not buy back shares. You will need to find a buyer. If a stock trades for over $50/share on 3 consecutive trades, I will consider splitting the stock - we can do it via a "shareholder" meeting . Data Updates: Each Morning, before opening, I will post what each share last traded for. (I reserve the right to post them the night before.) Each Tuesday I will show how much $ each player has, and their shares owned. We'll see who has the most money at the end of the season. Any Questions? PM me your orders for actual shares Friday September 30th starting at 10am MT (Noon ET, 11am Central, 9am Pacific)
  12. I think Bill B has a minor point here... you don't really want the other team to know the extent of an injury... and having the opponents trainers will definately let them know what's going on... That said, Bill B is a control freak... Eventually when he get's carted off the field, the opponent is going to know something... And you need to do what's best for your player, not worry about whether you are giving a competitive edge to the other team... I think if both sidelines have equal access to the outside help (ambulance etc)... then you'd eliminate the need to have the opponents Trainers on the field... Which would make Bill B happy and not put the players at more risk.
  13. So, no one has any ideas on how to get wins? Or you are saying do nothing differently... stay the course and we'll win those games... right now, over half of the votes are for a .500 or better team with the team as is... OK... It's Tuesday, so the anger of Monday is diminishing... And the hopes for the game against New Orleans is mounting.
  14. I think Fan in Chicago knows something about futures trading... I would say we are only talking about on field performance... We don't give a damn about revenues... it's just a game.
  15. Hmm... that would be a very interesting game to play.... How about this... a "pre-sale" market valuation... Treat each team as being worth the same amount, then have a "fake" sale to determine values... Once the values are set, we do the actual buying of teams. Let's say everyone get's 32 shares (1 for each team). You then put those shares onto the teams you wants (future). Remember - once we do the IPO... you need to have a seller in order to buy or sell... But you can keep shares in reserve (not in any teams)... I will work with someone else to run it if you want, but I can't do it on my own... I'll need someone to help coordinate buying and selling.
  16. That is weird the league would outlaw community ownership... look at GB... they are maybe the most followed team in Football, they sell every game out, sell a ton of merchandise... regardless of what their on field record is... By selling them to the communities, you insure the teams won't move which increases fan loyalty... Most Bills fans biggest worry is not whether they lose the games... it's the team moving... I will follow the Bills every season they are in Buffalo, if they move... I would be very upset and not just at whomever the owner is but the league in general...
  17. 3 and out is pretty much turning the ball over....
  18. It's called Futures... that's what they do in Chicago (Pork Bellies, winter wheat, oil futures, etc)... buy and sell futures expectations... If you are being serious, it would be interesting... I don't know if they do it with teams... What I think WOULD be neat would be if Ralph would sell the team to Buffalo Residents like GB... I don't know how he could do it... but that'd be awesome.
  19. Followup - If you were Mike Mularkey, what would you do right now to win games? Your lockerroom is falling apart - your defensive leader in terms of "rah, rah, shisk boom bah" in addition to being a stellar Linebacker just went down for the season, your Wide Receivers are complaining about not getting the ball... other than Special Teams and Willis McGahee... you are in dire straights... What do you do to rally them?
  20. Just curiously... How much revenue is actually generated and what is it used for? Is it to pay for the FCC? That said, I'm contacting my Senators/Congressman... I don't think there should be any taxes on telecommunications - get those fees from the licenses... it'd be more efficient. How much of the tax do they spend collecting the tax? probably a fair chunk...
  21. I don't want to feed this whole religion/moral thing... But, the school could be in trouble... they said "1 parent" must lead a "straight" lifestyle and not be living in sin... we don't know who the father is here, but if he's a straight married guy, then 1 of her parents does lead the lifestyle. This is a pointless arguement however, it is a private school and they can set their policies however they want... it's private. You don't have the right to a private education... You have a right to freely choose your religion, but if your religion doesn't want you... well, there really isn't anything you can do about it. A gay man may say he is a devout catholic, that doesn't mean the catholic church has to agree or admit him. This begs the question of their tax free status... If you don't have an open door "public" policy, why shouldn't you pay taxes? (and no, I am not going to embroil myself in this debate today).
  22. When I saw pet of the week.... I thought my goodness Fox sure does pimp out their reporters...
  23. I think you are looking at the mom of the blonde who looks about 12...
  24. Whoops, found it here earlier... http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showtopic=30900
